The vast listings are for the most parts 60s-70s muscle cars and vettes and a few T-Birds. Makes me wonder. 5. I haven't had chance to look at it. My 12 Cad is sick and I've been working in that. A little easier to remove the hood on a 12 CAD
  6. Here's the article. It's interesting because I found this article when I was looking for a solution for my front end vibration problem which was eventually solved by trueing the tires. However it seems like I may have this shimmy problem now describe by the article.
  7. I'm 52 and got my start 10 years ago. The cars I have acquired have been progressively older: 1964, 1955, 1932, 1912. I now have the 12 and 32. Can't go much farther in the direction I've been heading.
  8. Just be prepared to answer the question quite often, "who made Packard"? Good luck on your purchase.
  9. I agree that not all dealers are crooked or underhanded. Dealer called back with a fix for another problem which is covered under warranty. The excuse given for the plugs was that the mechanic thought since the spark plugs wires were not changed, then the plugs were original. Sound lame to me and I was not born yesterday.
  10. Paul is correct that Dodge requires that the plugs be changed every 30K miles. However they did not remember that I had told them that the plugs had just been changed. I had to laugh as they were describing the horrible condition of the plugs. I guess I need to buy better plugs that last longer than a month. t takes about 2-3 hours since you have to reove every injector. However the plugs are easy to get to and I did use ant-seize when replacing them. I was waiting for them to tell me that the cabin filter and the air cleaner neeed changing as those I just been done. For what it's worth, seems like a lot of people have changed them well after the 30K limit. I ran into a similiar situation at Jiffy Lube. They told me my radiator cap was not holding the proper pressure. It was a cheap replacement aroun $10 so I said change it out. The next time I went into there for a lube, yep you guess it, "Sir your radiator cap has a problem". Also for the record the best services I have ever received was for a Cadillac.
  11. I took my 05 Dodge Magnum to Chrysler Dodge dealer for some extended warranty work. Told me that they found a transmission leak that would be repaired under warranty. Then they told me I should get a tune up which involved changing out 16 spark plugs. They said it was obvious this had never been done and the car was severely neglected. Also it was a labor intensive job. Unknown to them I personally had changed the 16 spark plugs about a month ago. They quickly back tracked when I told them their mechanic was a liar. I actually told the service adviser that the spark plugs had been recently changed to help them diagnose a engine fault light.

I actually will have blackwalls for my sidemounts. The whitewalls I have are too oversized to add a sidemount cover. So when I add the cover, I have a pair of blackwalls I bought used. So even though you won't see them, I'm 1/3 of the way to where Wes wants me to be. You should had seen the color of my underwear when I started to get that severe vibration. All I could think of was the Tacoma Narrows bridge

There were standard for 32 deluxe 8s but Ithink in 34 and maybe 33 they were optional for the Super 8s.

  15. I suspect something is wrong with the front end. Car rode fine until I started to notice a little shimmy on this speed bump late this summer. However last Saturday itturned into a much bigger shimmy. The tires have been trued last year which helped with a vibration problem I had.
  16. A lot of cheap crap out there which is not readily apparent until you see lifts side by side. Backyard Buddy seems to be a good lift. I personally have a rotary lift which is a smaller version of its commercial lifts. Do your research and make sure the lift has been certified. Try to look at some in person so you can getthe feel and look of a quality lift. I bought mine 5 years ago, but there was no comparison between the Rotary and the $1995 specials. The Rotary lift I know when I bought it was the only lift that could legally be used in a commercial application. Bendpak is another lift brand that looks good and has certification on their hobbyist lifts. If you have the room, I would go with a used commercial lift.
  17. I ran over a speed bump at a fairly low speed yesterday, however what I experience was quite alarming. My 32 starting to violently shimmy from side to side even when I slowed the car to a stop. After about 5 seconds it stopped. I had experienced a slight shimmy before going over the speed bump in the past, but nothing like this. Going over the next speed bump a few 100 feet down the road cause no shimmy. I was only two blocks from home so I haven't driven it further. Teh car drove fine before all of this. I haven't looked under the chassis yet, but it sure seem like something was completely shot. Any ideas when I do my search?
  18. Well doesn't matter what he paid for it. I would say $50K would be high even though I know someone local he paid that much for a very nice closed 120.
  19. ThaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaK Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

  21. Well I would really thank you if you would lend me a pattern
  22. OK who wants to call this guy tho ask about a 1937 121 Packard Notice the one one positive feedback. 1937 121 Packard
  23. I am missing the lower chrome plated trim piece for my fold out winshield. Right now the bottom edge is just bare glass and doesn't look bad. However it is not correct. Superods thought there was small outfit in PA that did repro windshield frames but he couldn't remember. Does anyone know of this place or any other place. Even better would be an actual 32 coupe roadster windshield frame.
  24. Boy, you can't let those things bother you. You never know what politics or judging criteria is used at show especially the local shows. I have won a number best of shows with my Packard at these local shows but then have lost to a #3+ driver condition MG at a "judged" show. Plus the typical Best of Show winner is at these local shows is a 30's hot rod, including the fiberglass ones...at least in my neck of the woods. Your right, the biggest trophy you get is when you drive them.
