  1. I believe these are for sale, but I still have to find out who owns them in order to find a price. If anyone is interested, I will research them further.
  2. Some maybe were not running when they were parked. Some of 'em died JUST before that! I don't think that the '40 Nash will be a problem as far as finding parts goes. Sure, the Buick may have more availability of parts, but as I said earlier...get the one you like the style of and go from there. A lot of guys get a car because it's an easier one to get parts for. Then, after spending the same amount of time and money on the "second choice" car, they wish they had gotten the one they wanted in the first place. The 1940 Nash was a great car. A friend in San Diego had a four door sedan and it was always reliable on tours and cruised nicely. They are a very comfortable car to ride in and to drive. When I started out at 13 years old looking for parts for my 1st '31 Dodge, the parts were non-existent. Now, at 57 years old, I have craigslist and ebay and various club websites (such as this one) to go to to find what I need and to learn more. You, of course will not have to wait as long as I did, but my point is the ease of the parts search. John
  3. I think the Oakland has more of a contour than dimples.
  4. Welcome to the forum. I can only add that you should get the car you like. There are enough places to go these days with the internet that you should be able to get almost any part you may need.
  5. The console ashtray lid from a 1967 to 1969 or so Dart or Barracuda is similar, but without the grooves.
  6. Steve...that was a very sad scene indeed. I remember seeing a few cars with the name stamped. I believe he started doing that rather late in his collecting career and that is probably why not all were stamped...he had too many to stamp and little time to do it.

It could be a 1932 shell....they bow out on the bottom. 1933 is quite different. Here is a '33.
  9. I thought that it looked like the "widow's peak" curved up in the center.
  10. McFarlan had a radiator shell shaped more like a Rolls Royce style.

Looks like it started out to be a 1931 Plymouth radiator shell. Originally would have had vertical louvers.
  12. I think it is too small to be a Doble and I think that the radiator shell is wrong for a Doble.
  13. Could also be a "musical" horn switch from the 20's. Some accessory horns had a few buttons on them so that you could play a tune while driving.
  14. That is the number 15 painted on the radiator....it's a race car. They used a lot of Nationals for racing.
  15. Although this National car is earlier, the "widow's peak" radiator shell design was carried through the make until it's demise in 1924. Your photo car does seem to have that detail or very similar.
  16. My wife never really had a problem with my "collection of collections" as I so fondly call it, but she is even more understanding about it since I have had to liquidate some of my items. I tell her what I paid for an item or that I picked it out of a junk pile and then she sees what it brings me. She may be worried a little about getting stuck with it all, but she knows also that it has value. She says, "There are hunters and gatherers...you are a gatherer".
  17. Try Auto Color Library. They have a website.
  18. Yep....if it was a "money" thing, I would definitely be in the hole. Since it is an "admiring" thing for me and the stuff I collect, I am way ahead in the satisfaction department.
  19. I believe it is for a 1937 Ford trunk lid.
  20. Ebay usually has many types of the screw on style mirrors. The items with the two set screws on the back are usually o.k., but tend to loosen up with the wind pushing on it. They screw to the leading door edge.
  21. No one in the 2003 Dodge Brothers Club roster with that name. Maybe just not belonging to the club.
  22. hchris mentioned a manifold leak...did you ever feel around the inboard side of the manifold to check for that possible hole I mentioned earlier? Won't be easy to find, but I would think that your car would have it as mine does.
  23. I always jump at the chance to take a kid for a ride in my '31. It seems that their families never hear the end of it. They are always excited. A lot of them think that my coupe is a truck, so I simply educate them to the fact that this is what cars used to look like and that the designs changed as technology progressed (not in those exact words). They always seem eager to learn. One kid is STILL telling his family about his ride from 7 years ago. Now, if that means later that he will be into getting an old car, who knows? I hope so.
  24. You may have mentioned, but what carburetor are you running? It almost sounds like a float issue, but I would think that if the float was set wrong, it would stumble from the beginning.
