  1. I remember one evening when cruising Big Boy's north and running across these three guys in a beer bottle brown Firebird. They were kicking EVERYONE'S butts on I75 and Woodward. Here they were in their white shirts and thin ties racing this mild looking car with a very stock-looking appearance. Hmmm...how could THAT be? I had to check their ride out and even test it. Well, I tested them alright. The only other cars that could beat me were Corvettes and Hemi cars and these guys STOMPED me and everyone who raced them. Turned out to be the first Trans Am and the guys were GM engineers from GM Tech Center. No spoilers, no scoops, no stripes...just the raw power of that 455HO monster and the three geeks. Man, was I ever surprised.
  2. A friend of mine has a 1915 Saxon. Email me at keiser31@charter.net and I can supply you with his phone number. He may have extra parts or know where to locate some. John
  3. I have been into Chrysler products since I was a kid in the 50's and have studied everything from prototypes to actual production cars and have never seen anything like your item. I suggest that it may have come off of a Chrysler built boat of some sort. I know that Chrysler made parts for Gar Wood Boat Company in Marysville, Michigan during WW2. They made a lot of Navy personnel boats. The manual switch would sort of make sense if bow mounted.
  4. A couple of brothers from Royal Oak each had a 1964 GTO hardtop. They were beasts. One was gold and the other red and they were both raised high for headers and big meats on the back. Man those two cars were the screaminest. Another neighbor I knew had one of those giant Bonnevilles or something like that with some sort of lightweight frame. He showed me the big holes in the frame and I thought the engine would twist that frame, it was so powerful. In fact, I think he called it a factory lightweight or some such name. I used to hang out near the MOPAR guys like Jimmy Addison and the Silver Bullet ('67 GTX) and the Ramchargers Candymatics cars in Ferndale. What a GREAT place to learn about cars. When I wasn't driving my 1931 Dodge coupe or my '36 Dodge touring sedan, I would go race. Fast and fabulous times.
  5. Great shot of the Pontiac. My neighbor across the street from me in Royal Oak had one of those that was a burgundy convertible with a white top. What a car!
  6. I remember one night in my dark green '68 Roadrunner when I raced a '67 Pontiac Firebird. That guy got caught, but I kept on driving. That was at 12 mile and Woodward. I made it to the street where Arby's Roast Beef was and made a hard right down the street and then a hard left up some guy's driveway. Put out the lights, ducked down and counted three Johnny laws from Royal Oak tear down the street looking for me. Man, I was shaking like the proverbial leaf. We walked up to Arby's leaving the Runner in that driveway. A little while later a buddy who was with me went and got my car. We cruised home real slow. You see, I already had 12 points on my license. I couldn't bring myself to stop and get hauled in.
  7. Ahhh....Woodward. I think I am going to write a book about street racing on Woodward. I wish I could have made it to the Dream Cruise this year, but the memories keep me there.
  8. I went to Clara Barton Jr. High and then Dondero High School. Graduated in class of '70. I also remember when the Ace Wilson's dealership had the new 1967 GTOs. They had a dragstrip style slot car track with two GTOs set up in front of two driver's seat/4 speed console/dash areas side by side. Two people would sit and race each other using the 4 speeds to out shift each other through these areas marked 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I was 14 years old, but I out shifted three High School dudes and won a bunch of GTO posters, a model of the '67 GTO and the respect of all of my buddies who were there. I then later grew up and used to street race on Woodward Avenue. I was raised by a Chrysler man and so a Roadrunner was my weapon of choice for blowing off GTOs. (sorry)
  9. Hey, hey, we're the Monkees!! I took these photos in the 1960s at Ace Wilson's Royal Pontiac in Royal Oak, Michigan when I was 16 years old. It was quite the event to have the Monkeemobile in our little town!!
  10. For sale: 1952 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup rod project. '52 sheet metal on mid seventies frame. 327 automatic. No hood or steering column. Nice burgundy paint. For more photos or info contact B.G. at (541)944-4172 Oregon.
  11. The holy rear clip I submitted is in southern Oregon and available. I am assuming it is for an eight cylinder car given the double belt moulding on the lower area below the rumble seat panel. E-mail me if you would like more information at keiser31@charter.net or call John at 541-535-1890.
  12. I have a ton of hubcaps. I will look to see if I have any for you. Got a photo of what they look like?
  13. Yes, it is a spare tire lock. It fits over one of the lug nuts that hold the spare wheel to the bracket. If you had a car with the stud/nut type mount, it would usually work.
  14. Got any photographs of your '32 to show us??
  15. A friend of mine is restoring a 1928 Franklin and the wood inside the body was painted black at the factory. I don't know if this is typical.
  16. It is used for tractor frames up here in Oregon where the vehicle sit outside a lot.
  17. SWEET!!! That's what I like to hear. I use it straight, but have seen other guys thin it down. Neat stuff, huh?
  18. OUCH!!! What a cryin' shame. Looks like it was yanked up to the scales by a tractor. They should have scrapped the tractor instead.
  19. Thanks....I will try that. I also found a buddy who may have the shaft I need. Thanks again.
  20. I would be interested in any Carter DRT-08 carbs that you may have. I need two for my 1931 Dodge DH6 coupes. Please email me at keiser31@charter.net. Thanks, John
  21. Does anyone out there in Dodgeland have a clutch alignment tool or extra input shaft from a 1931 DH6 3 speed I can buy, borrow or get somehow??? I am quite comfortable with removing my clutch, but really would like to be prepared to put it back in. I know that I could "eyeball" it, but I really want to get it right the first time.
  22. Desperately need a lower window trim piece for a 1931 Dodge DH coupe. The car is complete except for that one piece. It's 31 inches long and usually has a wood grained paint scheme. I have a lot of trading material. Here is a photo.
