The Maryland MVA is celebrating its' 100th birthday with a car show on 12 June at the MVA headquarters in Glen Burnie Md. The goal is to have a car from each year. We are missing the following years 1914, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 25. Trailer parking will be available and out of state cars are more than welcome! There must be some Model T owners that would be willing to participate. Call Shari Jones at 420-787-7894.

I checked with Shari Jones today and we still need the following years:1914, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 25 and 85. It certainly would be nice to see that 14 Overland. It seems strange that we can't get some model Ts to fill in that gap from 17 to 25.

Judging from the old State Department Building in the background, could this have been one of President Taft's vehicles?

Not Franklin. Franklin OE-2s had the vaporizer attachment cast on the front of the float chamber.

It was a beautiful day in Maryland today, so I got the 27 Franklin out and drove it around to change the air in the cooling system!

I think that steam engine is a Hudson rather than a Pacific. That looks like a 4 wheel trailing truck.

So what car do you want to find under the tree.

Let me see, Steve will appreciate my choices, a series 8 Franklin touring, an Olympic convertible and a V8 Tatra. I'm kinda hooked on air-cooling! -
Just checked my pictures and here is a shot of the Hayes body plate on my Olympic. It's mounted on the wood framing so I bet it is missing from your body.As Steve mentioned, the air cleaner "Supercharger" housing is mashed in to clear the steering box and he inspected my front panel and found that it had a rolled edge so someone was a little more careful with mine. Another thing I have noticed is that the position of the horns changed over time. The earliest Olympics had the horns placed closer to the back resulting in them being damaged by the long Franklin hood. Some time the horns were re-located ahead avoiding the edge of the hood. Was this done at Franklin or at Hayes? The REO had a shorter hood and had no problem with the location of the horns. Dave

To add to the confusion, the body was built by Hayes Body of Grand Rapids, Mich. The same body was used by the Marmon 8. So you have 3 different marques using the same body. The Hayes body plate was on the left door frame. It would be interesting to see if it is still there. Dave

Definately worth saving. Here's 2 pictures of what you could have when you get it finished. This is my 33 Olympic, 29000 mile unrestored car. Dave

All those hood louvers. Could that be a Doble?

Leif Holmberg has it corrrect. It is a Continental Ace.

I can't help with the gas cap but I have a door pull and the inside door handle, if that is what you are looking for. Dave

Steve Moskowitz mentioned earlier that the overflow trailer parking would be at a fire station about a mile away. Does anyone know if this is true??
-
Does anyone know where the car trailer parking will be? I'm arriving Saturday morning.

How many of you still have your first car?

Earl, Henriette went back on the road in 1991. I'm replacing the muffler on her right now. Dave -

I bought my 35 Ford in 1962. I didn't have a driver's license yet and my father had to drive it home from the Jersey coast. It was one of the cars used in filming the motion picture "Tora,Tora'Tora. -
Mouse traps work best. Maybe Maryland mice are different, but Irish Spring and moth balls did absolutely nothing. I bait the trap with a small piece of Starburst candy, then smear it with peanut butter. The mice lick at the peanut butter but then start pulling on the Staburst. Game over! Cats are even better, but when I had "Bubba" a 6 foot black snake living in the basement, there were no mice at all. But when there were no more mice "Bubba" moved away.

Earl The old Carling building is gone. I'm not sure what is going to be built there. Dave -
I see the picture did not show up, so I'll try again!!!

Here's a photo of an Olympic hubcap. The last time I checked, Jeff Hasslen did not have any new hubcaps.

Steve I agree with you. Blackwalls look better on Franklins. Also, I am SOUTH of the Mason Dixon line. Dave

Do you know what the height is of the door opening??
