  1. It's a Deluxe model too. Two chrome horns and a chrome windshield frame.
  2. Jimm, my dad and I had a 42 DeLuxe sedan that was a delight to drive in every respect. It was a DeLuxe and had the lighted hood ornament. It also had the Fluid Drive, a radio, a heater, and turn indicators. I'm pretty sure they were all options on a DeLuxe. The blue Fifth Avenue had a really elaborate heater with ducts on the kick panels to direct heat to the back seat. That heater show up in the parts book. The large show room brochure shows Air Conditioning for the 42s. I wonder if any remaining 42s have that option? Dave
  3. My experience with 42 Fifth Avenues is that the brake light assembly was painted not chromed. I had a Fifth Avenue sedan, all blue no chrome on the brake light assembly and my 42 Fifth Avenue coupe was also a painted assembly. The 42 parts book does not show a chromed brake light assembly and the Fifth Avenue Ensemble section in the large 42 colour catalog does not make mention of it.
  4. Thanks, you are always up on Mopars, I'm not!
  5. This picture was posted on the Franklin club site as a 25 Franklin which it definitely is not. What is it?
  6. Franklin Madman, you are absolutely correct about the steel bodies by Raulang, because I had a 25 with the steel body. With that extra weight, it was no where near as perky as my 27. Which is no where near as perky as my 33! Dave
  7. Steve, my 27 11B has an aluminum body by Walker. Most 11Bs I have encountered have the aluminum body.
  8. Wasn't the Rockne built in South Bend?
  9. Here's another of my orphans. 1949 Studebaker Commander Starlight.
  10. Here's my three Franklins, 1921, 1927 and 1933
  11. Hook, in the winter I like to take them out just to change the air in the engine!
  12. Kimo, you are correct. My Packard's cormorant neck curled all the way down to the breast. That one is aftermarket.
  13. Mike is correct, once you have experienced a Franklin, you don't want to get rid of it. Every time I get the 27 or the 33 out I am in love all over again. Dave
  14. I sent you a private message yesterday, still am interested.
  15. Thanks, now I know how to do it.
  16. `I see private message mentioned many times. How does one send a private message?
  17. Bhigdog probably has it right. Irish Spring soap was supposed to be a miracle mouse repellent. My neighbor tried it in his garage and found that the mice were eating the soap! Nature's best two mice eliminators, a hungry cat or black snake. Of course a lot of folks probably won't like the idea of a snake patrolling the garage.
  18. I use the non script model A coils in our Franklins. They work fine except that I had to remount them away from the heat coming off of the air-cooled engines. In your Chevrolet they should work fine.
  19. RDWplymouth1931 I have a 49 Studebaker with OD AND it does have free-wheeling. It gives great gas mileage but don't use it on grades. My 33 Franklin has free wheeling but no overdrive.
  20. Last year Saturday trailer parking was on boat house rd. Could we change the direction of parking on that road? Last year, we had to come out on to rt.39 with no traffic light or police assistance. There were several near collisions there. If cars and trailers were parked in the opposite direction, we could exit on to Sand Beach Rd. down to Hershey Park Drive where there is a light. Please consider this.
  21. Leif, I think that tail light is a Hupmobile. Dave
  22. Well, Tom and TexasJohn, here we go again. The 27 is still acting up. I have a new battery installed. Took a drive in it today and came home and shut it off. Started again but not as quickly as I think it should. Drove down to a station for some petrol. This station has a sloped parking lot, just in case. Sure enough, it won't start. Battery is spinning the engine but no ignition. Got it rolling, popped the clutch, took 3 attempts, this time. Came home, shut engine off and tried a restart. Nothing. Got my small wrenches and put in coil number 3. Coil number 2 was hot to the touch. Tried a restart, nothing again. Got her rolling, popped clutch and took 4 attempts to get her running. Put it back into the garage. I'm disgusted. I'm going to pop the distributor car and check for excessive oil. Also will put a meter on the coil and see if I'm losing voltage somewhere. I worked on a 25 11A once and it would shut off when running and the problem was the ignition switch. I'll look at that too. This seems to be my summer of discontent. nothing but car problems. I have coil number 4, I may try that too. Dave
  23. Price reduced to $8900.00. Isn't there anyone interested in a Studebaker Starlight coupe??
