  1. The car rebuilt in any fashion will be a loosing proposition. Restored original or in a "Street Rod" configuration will not make it a worthy project. It looks like it was a real good original and someone has already given it a haircut for parts to build a roadster or touring car. Look at whats missing ... all parts that could be substituted to a more desirable model. JUST MY OPINION.....
  2. I drove over to see this Chevrolet today. Its a good honest car, nice trim, glass, super straight. The seller is motivated as the property is being sold. The car has had one repaint years ago (most likely50 years ago) or more. The interior presents well, the headliner is intact, door panels nice, seats all in tact. Under the hood looks good all in tact. If I wasnt fixing w different cars right now, I would of bought it.
  3. I know the seller of this car, a super honest good car guy. He is selling some other vehicles he has owned decades. Give Bob a call.
  4. $250,000 wouldn't fix it. Not even close.
  5. NY is very user friendly to get ownership papers without any backup paperwork. I had a friend from Canada that retained a post office box in NY to establish residency , and was able to licence in his name a car that he couldnt get done at home. It took some time but was done not to painful and legal.
  6. I like that old Plymouth, I dont know why. Id like to see the floors with no carpets on them before the auction ends. Ive got a place close by where that car could be stored until cheap transport was found.
  7. I wonder why he calls it a roadster >??? It could be a good parts chaser car. My dad had a black TRUE ROADSTER but it w\was so rusty the bottom fell right out of it. He junked it.
  8. I didnt burn the paint off. It was already worn to the primmer. I am getting some good shine.
  9. This afternoon got the back of the car machine rubbed. I'm not happy with some pimples in the paint so when I get done I'm going to try sanding the areas worth 800 or 1000 and rerub.
  10. Ed the old tires are dismounted, crankcase is drained, pan coming off in the morning, clean out the sump and inspect the bearings and it will be buttoned back up by noon. Gas tank is off , fuel pump and carb kits on the way... Wheel cylinders and master next week..
  11. sorry I dont have time for that. I have too many irons in the fire. I will post some progress pictures.
  12. I drove to the sellers home , met with them and loved the car. I took my trailer and winched it in. The sellers are just the nicest folks you would ever want to meet. It was a nice day.
  13. The car was sold and its in its new garage fat and happy. Its a remarkable story about this car and I will be posting it here soon. Mike
  14. Hi Pete , The seller of the car found the original and gave it to me today! Mike
  15. Thank you, The seller found the original cover and gave it to me.
  16. Does anyone have one of the sparkplug wire covers for the Century> ?? I may need a few other parts as well. Mike West NY
  17. My dad bought his 1930 Franklin in 1958 at the Watkins Glenn Grand Prix races. He loved the power and was hooked on the Franklins. When I was growing up dad still had the car until i was 10. He sold it in 1968 to a local electrician . He let the car sit , at least in dry storage, until I convinced him to sell it to me. I still have it. Dad had 2 different Packard in the early 30s, but prefered the Franklin to them. Yes he influenced me.
