  1. I received mine yesterday...the post office did some bending, but I should be able to deal with that easily enough. Thanks a bunch.
  2. Sorry to dredge this back up, but I got an inventory after suggesting $200 for the lot (and acknowledging I didn't have a good inventory as there were a number of smaller items) and being turned down. - Brand new ABS computer in the box - 1 motor for power roof - used - 1 motor for headlights - used - Brand new O2 sensor - Turn signal assembly - Rubber trim ring for front bumper - Interior components - some are new and in wrapper, others used. We've previously discussed the value of most of these and decided they aren't that significant. New to me is the ABS computer, which they claim has a value of about a grand. Thoughts? Thanks.
  3. Raising a glass of port to a Buickful New Year for all.
  4. From the Standard Catalog of Buick, the '82 LeSabre came with base 3.8 l V6 (110 hp), optional Olds 307, and optional Olds diesel 350.
  5. Well, at least it is a pretty down to earth car....

That's all the detail that my one source has. My ID book doesn't show a difference between the standard and Custom trim. The serial number should start with 44455 - 4=Buick, 44=Sportwagon, 55=4 door 2 seat Sportwagon. However, this book does show 2 versions of the 350 and the 400 being available.
  7. If you are looking for something simple, you may also want to look at tractor supply locations. They have lots of 6 volt stuff. Good luck. I like the link Mark provided since I'd like to do something with my '29.
  8. One suggestion I would make with Jason's method is to have the block stacks oriented differently from one another. I would probably try to put them all on 30-45 degree angles relative to the car. That way, any stresses from one side won't necessarily topple the entire thing.

I don't know how different it is, but the Olds 425 isn't a Buick 425. A friend of mine collected Oldsmobiles and he had one sitting in the garage way back. The 430 was the engine used in '67-'69 Buick full size cars. While it seems to not get a lot of respect, it is a very good, powerful engine. Buick 350s are very respectable. '68 Sportwagons came in 4 varieties - 2 and 3 seat, and basic and Custom trim. Production numbers are as follows: 2 seat - 5916 3 seat - 6063 Custom 2 - 4614 Custom 3 - 6295 So, they may not be exceedingly rare, but weren't huge production items either. Of note is that wagons often saw vacation use towing and sometimes were used in lieu of trucks for hauling stuff, so many did see tough use and were worked hard. From what I gather, it came with the 350 with Rochester 2GV 2 barrel making 230 hp at 4400 rpm. The GS 350 used a 4-bbl with 10.25:1 compression making 280 hp. Good luck coming to a decision.
  10. Looks pretty nice from what can be seen. The question is whether it is a model 41 or 41SE (with compound carburetion). I thought I got a pretty good deal on mine and this car is less money, so looks to be a very good deal.
  11. Thanks Rob. Eastwood does have some distributors north of the border, including one up here. I haven't really used them although I too have the kid in a candy store feeling about them.
  12. That'll make the Spring Extravaganza tough to get to, won't it? We've got temps near freezing today. I made a quick run out to get the poodles...the highway wasn't bad, but in town things are pretty sloppy. In the country, there is water running that should be long frozen - that is due to the wet weather we've had through the year. Happily, we haven't had all the weather that has been experience farther south, but I wouldn't be upset about lower than average snowfall amounts for the rest of the winter. So, I'm guessing there has been a run on snow shovels in Athens...or do they just wait for it to melt, polishing the roads to ice in the meantime?
  13. Well, yesterday on the 450 mile drive home from my brother's, Suzanne decided we are going...after hemming and hawing, we are pretty sure that we will fly out, then on to Halifax where her brother's family is, then home. So, we will likely be there without car. We were kind of hoping not to bother with a rental, since we tend to hang out at the meet a lot, so a rental could be a waste. Aside from the stuff planned for the meet, what might options look like for those without wheels?
  14. Merry Christmas all. We visited family for a few days, so I was away (and starting to get the shakes). I'm even still alive after revealing the Reatta Christmas morning.
  15. That does indeed sound like a beautiful car, and it is great to see the family history and the fact that it will soon see the light of day again. Good luck.
  16. 1988 Buick LeSabre T-Type T-Type 2 Door Coupe Prices, Values & Specs - NADAguides pegs a high end one around $5500. Of course, that is a guide. I'm sure I'd enjoy having a car like that, but it isn't to be at present.
  17. No worries Marck. Some people know. What I haven't quite figgered out yet is how to get it under the tree without being too obvious.... Paul - we leave tomorrow...I'll be in touch when we are back next week.
  18. Double M - you make perfect sense. What if we went back to the 1920s and took a look at the Model T, especially in comparison to other, more expensive, more luxurious brands. Today, they are a mainstay of vintage automobile collecting and have a huge following. We are seeing the remaining more affordable cars of the '50s, '60s, and '70s see more interest now because they are affordable, but also have the nostalgia around them.
  19. Marck...shhhhh...be vewy vewy quiet. The guys here will want it up in "Me and My Buick" before I get a chance to pick it up and take more photos. Bob - I'm glad you had some fun with this guy. Even if all he has is his grade 3, he should be able to know that taking someone else's photo and pawning it off as his car to sell is dishonest. I mean, why shrink it down so much otherwise? Unless he is concerned that someone might question the license plate. If he has a '52 Roadmaster for sale, why not simply post a link to my page saying it looks just like this one? Thanks for making the call and suggesting he remove it. I guess I'm still not sure. I'm inclined to think Matt is correct, which is why I reported the ad and posted here. Even if he's got the same car, it is dishonest to imply that the photo is of the car. Say Bob...you don't happen to have a recording of that conversation, do you? That would be entertainment!
  20. Hi all. I was recently forwarded an ad trying to sell one of my cars. 1952 Buick Straight 8 Runs Good. ALL ORIGINAL. Clear Title. I was not aware that my car, tucked away in a shop in rural Manitoba, was even sold, let alone in the Carolinas. I haven't asked my wife yet whether she was included in the sale or not either. I believe the photo was harvested from http://www.mts.net/~dthille/52roadmaster.html While I don't think anyone here is necessarily naive enough to fall for this, particularly if you have been to a recent National and met Suzanne, I just wanted to put this out there for folks to be aware of. I have reported this ad to the Internet Crime Complaint Center and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (Phonebusters). I don't expect anything to come of this, but I would certainly like the seller to be scared witless. Should anyone like to have some fun with it, particularly if you are in the area, ask to see the car, or ask for details that only an owner could know. As it is, the description does not match the car in the photo. There was some discussion of this on another thread, but it was buried in something of a thread theft (by me). The possibility of someone using my photo as an example of a '52 Roadmaster was raised, but usually when someone does that, there is mention made that the photo is not of the car for sale. Also, it would be courteous to ask permission to use a photo, when it is pulled from another site. One of the things I will be looking to work on is to add some sort of watermark / copyright claim on photos that I post online. This doesn't bother me terribly much, although I'm not happy about a photo being chosen that include She Who May Kill Me When She Finds Out How Much I Spent For Christmas. My greater goal is to prevent anyone from being defrauded by this shyster.
  21. The horses' bones aren't beaten to dust yet.... Not knowing what the market value is like for this piece, I would think selling it at some point might be best in terms of trying to recoup monies spent. If nothing else, you can put a Buy it Now on that reflects what you are willing to eat as a loss. If there are no takers, that is life. Good luck.
  22. Bienvenue Laurent! I have an aunt and uncle west of you, in Dax.
