  1. I can't answer all the questions, but it would seem to me that you can only find 6 V relays listed for the car through searches since that would be what came with it. I think you may need to search backwards from what you have in the car based on the 12 V conversion. The question is simply whether generic parts were used, or perhaps a system out of a later car. If the latter, you would probably want to look for replacements based on the car the electricals came out of. If generic, then you just want to trace things back to see what you have and whether or not it needs replacing. Your issue is one of the unfortunate down sides of customizing cars and not passing along all the documentation when sold.
  2. Nice find Pete...that's a great looking car. Shouldn't that guy in the last photo be wearing Ford Blue, or Kubota orange, or IH red or something like that?
  3. I just wanted to wish my Buickful forum friends a happy and joyous Easter. May the joy of Easter be with you throughout the year.
  4. I noticed Thursday evening when I went grocery shopping that I couldn't pass by the canned meat without a smile coming to my face...I don't ever think that aisle will be the same to me.
  5. Nope, but there's a bigger draw tonight....
  6. With a projector, you bet. I haven't got one myself (yet), but have occasionally considered it.
  7. I generally do that...the Reatta was a surprise and I fear once it is ready and on the road I won't be allowed to drive it...now it is spring and a '64 Wildcat and '53 Super have just been listed for sale locally and have me tempted...but I'm pretty sure I won't get approval...unless perhaps the lottery comes through tonight.
  8. Cool. I really enjoy how smooth the straight eights are. A local fellow (and new BCA member) got his more or less complete and I saw it last summer...here's a look at what your car can look like some day. It's in way better shape than my '52 Roadmaster.
  9. I guess that is Dandy Dave's cue....
  10. Here's a few photos...not that good...two are quite familiar to me and are straight red...the red / black was in a black Skylark in Ames. The action shot is probably the one you want to visualize, right Mike?
  11. That's a pretty good reason to purchase a Buick....
  12. If everything is working properly, it should get at least 20 mpg highway, probably mid-teens in the city. If it isn't getting that, you may want to check things like tire inflation and general tune condition.
  13. Location is always one of the biggest things for me....
  14. We have one in the bathroom downstairs...if we ever remodel and get rid of it, I'll consider bringing it from the far NW suburbs for Donna. Then again, perhaps a housewarming gift for Kris....
  15. ROFLMAO! Hey Lamar / Bob, you wanna bring the DVDs to Danvers? I'm pretty sure I'll bring a laptop.... If anyone has copyright over these, it ought to be Buick / GM. Alternatively, whatever advertising company may have been involved. Joe Moneymaker who's selling them is probably simply selling the fact that he converted them and is betting there are guys like me who want to see them, but are too lazy. If there are 8 at 15 minutes each, that's 2 hours of Lamar's Cialis alternative, which is probably too much for me to sit at the computer this afternoon....
  16. Tick Tock Tach - great name - it is a round instrument with the clock and tachometer both inside. Large cool factor. Bruce Andren runs the Compact Buick Club. He is also on these forums and is the Buick Club of America technical adviser for the 1961-63 compact Buicks (Special and Skylark). Enjoy your ride.
  17. I would check Bob's Automobilia as your best bet. I haven't looked in a while, so I'm not sure if they carry those. Failing that, there is a Yahoo group for 1930 Buicks that has a lot of knowledge and expertise. Good luck.
  18. I think JD has just volunteered as chair of the welcoming committee...and a fine job he's doing. Welcome to all our new members.
  19. If you need a hand with posting photos, there is a thread on the Me and My Buick forum as a sticky. It is pretty easy if you are posting though - there is a Manage attachments section below where you type a reply (you have to be in the Advanced area though, not the quick reply) where you can browse to photos. Alternatively, send some to me via e-mail at derek.thille at ieee.org and I could post them here. Do you have the cowl tag information? It would tell you what model the car is. 1929 had 3 series and regular and "close-coupled" four doors. Since I have a model 51 McLaughlin-Buick (close coupled), I am intrigued by this car. What part of the world is it? There is a quarterly newsletter available for '29 owners from Bill McLaughlin.
  20. Just outside the year range is this '85 for sale locally - 1985 Buick Park Avenue Coupe - Winnipeg Collector Cars For Sale - Kijiji Winnipeg Canada.
  21. Planting? Pshaw...we got snow last night...not much planting in these parts for about a month give or take.
  22. Oh...and never ever apologize for posting photos here.
  23. Nice score Lisa-G. I'd offer a swap for my '62 Special convertible, but that would cost me too much money and too many points with She Who Must Be Obeyed. It isn't often one can procure a one-owner car that is nearly 50 years old.
