  1. Whatever you say Mr. Dangerfield....
  2. It's not that easy, being green.... With envy of course. Great cars, and good to hear they are getting the attention they deserve (unlike some of my cars).
  3. Well, at least you got the old dog part right Ben So, I guess we'll have to stop calling her Landau Linda....
  4. Dave - you'd probably know better than me...they use compressed air to get it started, then it ran on a possible choice of fuels. I seem to recall coal oil being one of them...they may have had it running on natural gas.
  5. You know I'm there.... Did we start these in Bellevue? That's the earliest I recall attending one...if so, then I haven't missed one yet.
  6. Cool...same as my convertible. You're only about 400 miles from here. If you feel like taking it for some road miles, I'm putting together a tour in this area for the Labour Day weekend. Your car would put mine to shame, but I'm not sure when the last time the locals around here would have seen a pair of '62 Specials together. In decent tune, you should get at least 20 mpg with that car. I've had issues with mine, but they do look great, turn a lot of heads, are reasonably economical, and are smallish, which makes them more maneuverable in the city, not to mention better on fuel than most other old cars.
  7. Cool. Thanks for posting Mike. About a thousand miles, so practically in my back yard....
  8. Welcome Damien, I have the same car, but a Canadian McLaughlin-Buick. My car is patiently awaiting me to get at it. I have the car here at the house, and have puttered a little bit with cleaning it up, but haven't yet gotten started on any significant restoration work. You may also want to consider checking out the Silver Anniversary Buick Club at http://www.29buick.ca/ as well as http://1929buick.com/ I'd love to hear more about your car.
  9. Very much like a pie.... SWEET! So, the old iPhone is your punishment for buying another car? Since your sweetie rocks, perhaps Woody will provide a new one for Father's Day....
  10. 4D4022074 corresponds to a 1957 serial number of a car built in the Kansas City plant. I believe by then the engine serial numbers may have matched the car serial number. Is that number stamped? If a 1957 engine, it would be a 364 cid. The engine for the upper series could have a Carter 2507. These had 10.0:1 compression and made 300 hp at 4600 rpm (330 hp with high performance kit). Good luck.
  11. Welcome gentlemen. Dick, if you start a thread talking about your problem, I'm sure there will be folks who can help diagnose. I haven't played with a power top much (yet) - the first thing I would do is be sure the reservoir is full (many use ATF over brake fluid as it is easier on paint) and that you don't have air in the system. Good luck.
  12. I think it used to be more apparent with the J5V...thanks for the laugh Bob. Football season is gearing up...I'm going to wait until the last minute before buying new cleats for the boys though...last year they each went through 2 pairs over about 5-6 months due to foot growth.
  13. Nah...our degrees are bigger than yours.... Online Conversion - Temperature Conversion
  14. Now, if only someone could do that up in laminated quick reference cards, I'd be OK.... Actually, from history, it hasn't been that bad for me. I expect the children may have more difficulty. My bigger concern will be if we leave the confines of the meet and experience a higher proportion of native Bostonians....
  15. I was sent a few photos by BCA #44607. The one with Joseph and I at the car was at a point where I spoke about the car. At the various stops on the weekend, we took a few moments to ask a couple of tour participants to talk about their cars. This was my turn. The other one is at the museum in St. Joseph. The small building in the background is the one that houses the Crossley engine.
  16. Drought would be nice right about now...we have more water around here than you could shake a fish-shaped chunk of Spam at right now. I'd like to plant a vegetable garden this year....
  17. There is always a lot of variability to interest in car corral cars. This one, as a one owner that may be able to qualify for the unrestored class, could very well generate a lot of interest. There are many of us who like unmolested, well maintained cars. That said, price is always a consideration. If too high a price is displayed, then a lot of people would walk by, regardless of their level of interest in the car. Another point is that there will always be folks at a BCA National who appreciate a car like this for what it is - a one-owner original. That in itself is interest-generating. The other thing is that it may be more likely to find a new home with someone who really appreciates the car, as opposed to local advertising, where folks may think of it simply as an old car. Frankly, it doesn't work for me due to finances and distance at present, not to mention that I have a couple local irons in the fire that I may need to snap up if the opportunity arises.
  18. We're flying in Tuesday. Not bringing a 1/1 scale Buick...sigh.
  19. It was 77 here today...nicest it has been this week. Hopefully we can actually get some garden planted in the country this weekend...something nice and fresh to go with that Spam. Then again, you could also have green, eggs & Spam.
  20. RockAuto Auto Parts is another possibility. Good luck.
  21. That's forty something to you Speedy! You're only as old as you feel, so I ought to be retired.
