  2. OH NO, what happened, Hope no one was hurt.
  3. This seller is my good friend Jan Olof Hansen in Germany. His former user name was El Diablo. He is the administrator of 1954buick.com and has been collecting 50's Buick memorabilia for quite a few years. He has been building a new site covering all years of 50's Buicks called Hometown Buick. He apparently has decided to sell some of his "overstock". As there are several hours time difference, it may take time for him to respond.
  4. Apparently someone doesn't like Buicks, we all got a thumbs down. Even BC and Terry. Sheeze, must not like girls either then. (Tha's the nicest way I could say it) But look how many thumbs up she's got. When it reaches 54 I'll email her and let her know how popular she is.
  5. Quite an awesome collection http://www.hometownbuick.com/inventory/
  6. Please ad prices per http://forums.aaca.org/f117/please-read-guide-buick-buy-sell-343863.html
  7. There is little if any money to be made in the parting out cars business these days. I hate to say this but even if Ken offered up all the cars to someone local at current salvage prices, that buyer would need to enjoy turning wrenches to the left while all the time wallowing in rat turds, snake skins and spider webs and getting 50 year old road salt and yuk in their eyes, not for the sake of making a profit but rather all for the sake of helping others in the hobby. (Then sometimes having them insult you with haggling over the more than fair price you offered it to them at) When you add up the time it takes to find and retrieve a parts car, the cost of gas and other associated costs of retrieving it, (junk food, cheap hotels, trailer tire blow outs, on the road truck repairs etc) the time it takes to gather tools, often times pulling cars out of overgrown weeds and briars and safely jacking it up onto stands, then using a blower to blow out all the leaves, mouse turds, spiders and what have you and then "attempt" to pull the parts (not only the part in need but all the other parts it takes to GET TO that part). I say "attempt" because half the time you'll loose the battle due to rounded off screws and nuts or the part proves to be unusable after all your time spent going after it. THEN add in the time and dollars to obtain boxes, pack up and determine the best shipping rate and get it sent off. And then to top all this off, albeit it rare, the case where you fret over knowing you promised someone you would get a part for them, you make time to do all the above and call the buyer only to hear, "Oh I found the part hidden under some other parts" or "Oh, I already bought it from so and so". I visited Ken several years ago (2005 I think) and he gave me a great deal on a Super with AC. While there, we discussed the ins and outs of the business. This was when gas was under $2/gal and he said his profit margin was slim even then. At the time I had been buying up 54-56 parts cars with plans to spend early retirement pulling and selling parts. I was using a formula that if the cost of the car plus gas money to retrieve didn't exceed $400 I'd go for it. That eventually went to $500 then $600-700 and now what with the salvage metal prices and cost of gas being what it is could drag that up to $1000-1200. Unless a car is highly optioned, there aren't enough parts on a car to make an even return on your money at that cost. Now what with the economy being as it is and very few people restoring cars anymore, the demand for parts is down to practically zero. I haven't bought a parts car in a couple of years and currently have 12-14 sitting in the pastures under cheap car covers hoping the county won't drone me and send a code enforcement officer out to tell me all about the new junk car ordinance. So ALL that just to say that I empathize with Ken and don't have an answer for Budd. Except to heed Ken's suggestion that if you want a part you better grab it while it is available. Personally, I have resolved that I will just enjoy helping friends with parts when I have time and keeping the briars weed eated down. But I do hope to someday soon have a nice shop (with a lift even) where I can start turning wrenches to the right. here's some pictures of Ken and Sues place from when I visited back in five let's see what will I talk about on my 4th cup of coffee this morning.....

  12. Condolences from me and Rita too. Like Ben said, it can be tough, but try and keep on the sunny side. A song my mom use to sing and it was played when they wheeled her away. Well there's a dark and a troubled side of life. There's a bright and a sunny side too. But if you meet with the darkness and strife, The sunny side we also may view. Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side, Keep on the sunny side of life. It will help us every day, it will brighten all the way, If we keep on the sunny side of life. Let us greet with a song of hope each day. Though the moments be cloudy or fair. Let us trust in our Saviour always, To keep us, every one, in His care. Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side, Keep on the sunny side of life. It will help us every day, it will brighten all the way, If we'll keep on the sunny side of life. Oh, the storm and its fury broke today, Crushing hopes that we cherish so dear. Clouds and storms will in time pass away. The sun again will shine bright and clear. Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side, Keep on the sunny side of life. It will help us every day, it will brighten all the way, If we'll keep on the sunny side of life. If we'll keep on the sunny side of life
