  1. Dale Smith (smithbrother) who frequented this forum a few years ago passed away in early March. Some may remember his remarkable wooden artwork of Buicks and General Motors figures. I was always in such awe at all the amazing wood pieces he created and some from just everyday lumber and even scrap, SO intricately detailed. He was his art, through and through. What amazing pieces he left behind. Dale spoke many times of his dads Buick dealership and of the new showroom Skylark he took for a ride Dad was a Buick dealer in Bloomington,IL. I was in HS. dad allowed me to come to the dealership during our hour long lunch break. This allowed me to take the car back to school and show some friends. I had less than an hour...... I arrived at the school, picked up best friend, he advised me that another friend was behind us on the sidewalk, so I started backing up,,,,,,,I didn't know he had opened the passengers door, a bread truck was at the curb, with the door open it struck the front bumper, folded the door, broke the cast hinges, and the door feel to the ground. I felt like my world was ending, got out, put the door in the trunk, and headed back to the dealership. Needless to say my friends didn't want to be anywhere near when dad saw the missing door. Dad was sitting on his desk in the showroom, he saw the door missing, he came out in a hurry, I was 17, I was crying, dad said, "DALE, CALM DOWN, JUST DON'T TELL YOUR MOTHER". He knew I was upset, and he felt bad too, but knew no one was hurt. He called Buick, they air shipped a new door that afternoon to Chicago, the body shop foreman drove the 130 miles north to pick it up. The body shop crew worked into the night and repaired the car, MOTHER NEVER KNEW. We have no clue as to where the car is, or if it is a survivor. That's the story, and I'm sticking to it. Dale in Indy Dale was a fellow fittyfo owner and we kidded a lot about his custom scalloped '54 Century he and his wife got married in. here are some of his masterpieces He also left behind his custom '41 Limited and after Dale and I had fun emailing each other up until his passing. What a wonderful person. I will miss Dale
  2. I just said I like it not that I want to buy it 😄 I sorta like the color...different... I was wondering about some of the things you mentioned. Thanks for the fair critique .
  3. I like this car For less than the cost of the paint and upholstery I'd say https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1739060006623399/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A7431a19c-43a5-4c76-ad7f-4ef5e9ad6868
  4. Both beyond my means but actually fairly priced imo. one sold already https://www.ebay.com/itm/156186327647 https://www.ebay.com/itm/156186309160
  5. Hey gang, if anybody has the August 2023 issue of the Bugle that contains Part 1 of my garage build and don't plan on keeping it I'd be glad to pay shipping plus some for your trouble for it. I apparently forgot to hit submit or something when I was renewing my membership last year and wasn't aware until I stopped getting my Bugles, coincidentally that month. After remedying that situation, I emailed Cornerstone several times explaining the situation and asking for a copy but never received a response. So, sadly I've not even seen that issue with my article. Will appreciate it!!!!
  6. I had a strange feeling this car might be yours, I recall you speaking of your 41's at Bobs auction. How is that 38 Century I sent to you? Sorry to hear your health is declining. Tell your pretty wife I said hello.
  7. Final bid on this baby should be interesting... This is correct for Roadmaster and Super? https://www.ebay.com/itm/134996598276?itmmeta=01HTBJ5VKVVFB2MVVKHDVRNBPD&hash=item1f6e6c9e04:g:xL4AAOSwxHFmBc0J&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8M%2BXk23UjF8zRozJ58cX7NHN3h4fVn7IcwZdYiJV9Wy4KsgpAijbQD7yAY9ip2ljy0IJQI7NNH7lHe24wXWNGR3pj7e%2FdlT6Zys1OIqOiiD3F3XvY1lxa%2FlMe5TJHKuP4XQvClpduLZ224mKvZ2nwRglLKYonj5zyU8jIA4G4BQh8GG7CM1yA0z6Dpd5NqbiNhZ8ATZipAvAom1tByXndTwWpfD0OR0Hk4pmPqKfYet%2BSgxqJC43j056MNJ7jsAX4qRiR7i1LHOrR39wRr35KXwsfaV0RsrS3eDi2fV82apLhnt61pUYO7Bw9b9nCJhyOg%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR6C6l_LSYw

  9. Correct. It’s the same # as the 30+ year old one in the slant back now. Thanks Chris
  10. bout this time a couple years ago got a visit from this guy @Larry Schramm
  11. TTT once again. I'm seeing @sean1997 hasn't checked in in over a year, sure hope you're OK Sean. This is only one of so many valuable posts in this Buick forum that I would so love to see in perhaps a searchable spreadsheet index someday. Maybe when I get old and have nothing to do maybe I'll create such. Until then I guess google is our friend,
  12. I don't think I have been so enamored and desiring of a car this much since I found and purchased my '54 3 speed Century. 36's have truly become my favorite prewar Buick, especially the Special and Century Coupes. Such a rare car and the fact it was so original!!!! No radio but the optional cigar lighter and extra front bumper guard. Posting some of the pictures just for the sake of posting I guess.
  13. Just received an email from the dealer that it sold this morning.
  14. As some of you may know I’ve been looking for an affordable ‘36 Century coupe for awhile. Affordable, for me at least seems to be the problem in the equation though. I had communicated with Matt about the car some 3 years ago and advised of my thoughts on value etc. He contacted me again when he listed it here. I would love to have this car just as is, for forever display at the Buick Sales and Service Garage and local shows and parades. From what I’ve seen in pictures, the price could be right, but location and time aren’t on my side. Upon emailing the dealer and asking for additional pictures and detailed video I was simply advised there are two potential buyers coming this week with another in line, said he’d keep me posted. 🙄 I’ve entertained selling my ‘38 2 dr slantback for room and funds but again no time for that. so as deac said and hopefully to one of you. 🍀
  15. As a moderator I’ve never been so tempted to delete a post as this one so as I would have first shot at it. But being I is who I is, here it is. 😁
  16. Update. The seat material from SMS came in today, 6 weeks after ordering, not as bad as some I have heard about but a bit longer than the 2 weeks they said it should be. I lost my spot in line at the upholsterer so will be awhile. this is the tan striped, the plain tan is underneath. I also have the closest to my seatbelt sleeves I could find. They’re for a Camaro but correct length and color. I may try heating with a heat gun and bending slightly to better match originals.
  17. My thought also Pete. I got notice of it after the first two auctions had ended, most of the good stuff gone. Had I gotten in on the first two auctions I would have been happy to make a roadtrip to pick up. Hopefully it all went to true Buick enthusiast. I’ve already started an eBay search for a few of the items in case it all ends up there. Lots of rare items I would love to own even at resale prices.
  18. @1937 Buick Century I’ve been saving a spot for just this poster 😁. Some things these days can only find their value with someone whose desire for it is worth what they are willing to pay. I’m willing to pay $300 plus cost of safe insured shipping to Hull, Georgia. Message me if you’d like to see it go on one of these walls 😊
