  1. I may end up,going after all - I have registered but haven't mailed it in yet. If I send it tomorrow will it be accepted? Thanks
  2. This is what you need https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2017/03/07/a-room-with-a-view-1959-cadillac-broadmoor-skyview/?refer=news Bob
  3. Well after all the searching for a hotel, we just found out we can't go now ? That is the weekend of our son's senior prom (we thought it was later in the month) so family comes first. Guess we will now plan on the WV meet in May Bob
  4. Thanks - we were able to find something (well the wife did so not even sure where we are staying LOL) so we will be there Bob
  5. Just now found out we will be able to attend - finding a hotel is next to impossible !!! Bob
  6. We were just in Ocala this past weekend for the AACA Winter Meet and the NPD tour is worth the trip down by itself - it is an amazing collection !!! Bob
  7. This is one of those cars that I am not sure what it is but I sure know what it ain't LOL Bob
  8. I'm loaded and pulling out in the morning. I am bringing my 85 for the HPOF Class.
  9. Hey, I'll see you at Ocala. From what I have read and asked, I think the entire repaint may hurt it but hey, you're close so who knows. If nothing else, you have a nice parking place for the show (that is sort of my view in case I don't get certified either LOL).
  10. Yes, took about 30-45 minutes to do all five windows.
  11. Tint is now off so no longer have to worry about that deduction lol
  12. Well I am registered for the Winter Meet in Ocala in February so I guess we will see how well I do. I had a AACA Judge look the car over this weekend and he said he had no doubt it would make it but you never know what can happen.
  13. Me either but not sure I missed anything lol
  14. Thanks for the tip. I plan to remove it this week
  15. I never received the Museum letter so guess they are not interested in appealing to me LOL - I'm okay with that
  16. I think, based on what I am reading, I will remove the tint. It is an obvious non-original item that just stands out so I think I will just take it off to ensure that is 1 less point I lose Thanks
  17. I am considering taking my 85 Riviera to the Winter Meet in Ocala and trying for HPOF certification. I don't foresee any issues with it since almost everything on the car is original with the exception of course of maintenance items. The only exception is that the windows have been tinted with a light aftermarket tint. Should I remove the tint prior to the show or will the deduction be so small that it shouldn't affect the certification? Also, what about window decals for the AACA and Riviera Owner's Association? Should I remove those as well? Thanks
  18. All of this is just another reason I stay out of most club activities. About 20 years ago when I was very active in our local region - including serving as Co-Chair of the 1996 Grand National, Ron Barnett approached me about considering getting involved at the national level and maybe one day running for the AACA Board. While I appreciated his confidence in me, my response was "I really have too much fun in the hobby to ruin it by being involved in club politics". The best way for me to get out of a national club is to see all the dirty laundry of club politics being aired and potentially tearing clubs apart. I know club politics happens but I like it better when it is kept behind the scenes. (I did go against my own rules and became a national board member in a single marque club and after seeing the politics, I left the board and the club and am no longer a member of either so I should have listened to my own advice LOL) Having said that - I guess I fail to see that what happens between AACA national and the museum affects me personally. I support the AACA by being a member, and to be honest, other than the one visit I took to the museum, it has no real benefit to me that I can see. I see no benefit to writing the museum board members and telling them my thoughts because I doubt they really care. We elect a AACA Board and I figure they are more "in the know" to make the right decision(s) than me as an average member. If I ever get tot he point where I truly disagree with what the board decides, I can always quit paying my dues and not worry about it any longer LOL
  19. It would have to be in Tennessee
  20. In my search for a E body, I found this 1985 Riviera. I wanted something that I could drive on local AACA drives and maybe AACA Tours. It isn't flawless but for a 32 year all original car, it is pretty nice. It has 60K miles and was bought new in Springfield, TN, 2 owner in same family. I have yet to find a paint chip, door ding or blemish in the paint. Other than a wear place in the driver's seat, the interior is exceptional. I think it might also be a nice AACA HPOF candidate. Great example of 1980s luxury car. Made the 100 mile trip home flawlessly and road exception. No wind noise, etc.. Bob
  21. The car is nice but as with an 32 year old original car it needs a few things. Two things I wasn't told prior to driving up there are (1) The passenger door will not open from outside - the push button has no resistance so assume the rod is broken or off. Just have to figure out how to get door panel off to investigate. (2) the air won't blow out center vents - you hear a hiss behind control panel so I am assuming a vacuum line has a leak or has come off preventing the doors from closing properly The paint is amazing on the car. Interior is nice - one wear place in middle of driver's seat back but otherwise very nice still think it is worth what I paid ($4000) - would make an excellent HPOF candidate Bob
  22. I bought the 85. It is in amazing original condition. Needs a few little things but it rode great in the 100 mile trip home. Will post pictures tomorrow. Appreciate the advice that I received - it helped me make the decision. Bob
