  1. With everything that is happening in PR, I would think a National Meet would be VERY low on the list of priorities. I was hoping to go to this meet as well but if they don't have it, I totally understand. The hurricane will affect their lives for a long time - having or not having the Meet will not. Bob
  2. Man, I wish I had seen this earlier but oh well. Bob
  3. If you paint the truck you will basically eliminate yourself from HPOF consideration. Bob
  4. You said his dad died "not too long ago". Maybe as time passes, he will be less attached to it but right now the memory of his dad and that truck are still very fresh. Bob
  5. How far along are you on the Moon restoration? Are you at a point where you can store it without having to duplicate effort (put parts back on that will be required to be removed later for restoration)? IF you can, I would put it aside and do the Devaux in honor of your wife, I think your daughter probably wants his as a memory to her mom Bob

NO In General, What items need attention? - Rear Sway bar bushings in the future - passenger power seat does not work but is in a comfortable position - cruise control does not work - power door locks work intermittently - door locks work fine with key - most of the top portions of the car have been painted some time in it's life. There is a bad place on the hood where it looks like maybe there was some filler applied at one time and not prepped well. You don't notice it until you get real close to car. Tonneau cover has been painted and has some imperfections - can't see it in pictures - have to be real close to notice. My Reatta Drives: (Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor) GOOD I am the ____4th__owner of this Reatta.
  7. As others have said, the Model A will be an easier repair and probably easier to sell when you had your fun. On the other hand, it really depends on what you like the best and what your goals are with the car since they are two totally different vehicles. If you are solely going on cost, I would go with the Model A
  8. I've used a product called "Simichrome Polish" on my Model A and it works real well - it is available at most motorcycle dealerships Bob
  9. Not even a close resemblance in my opinion Bob
  10. Steve, I agree with you in principle. It is sad to see the History Channel make documentaries that do not accurately reflect history but while it "upsets" me, I just pass it off as to what seems to be happening all around us - too many folks are not interesting in doing their job correctly, they just want to get the product out there for the $$ and not worry about the quality. Call me a pessimist but I do not believe it will get better - only worse. I don't think the History Channel truly cares what the average viewer thinks as long as the advertisers keep buying ads. Those of us who watched it as knowledgeable"critics" don't really matter to them because we are most likely a small portion of the viewers, so I refuse to get "angry" about something I have no control over. On the flip side, if the program sparks an interest in the old car hobby, it is a good thing despite the poor preparation. Bob
  11. ^^ I agree - I had rather watch a show all cars that wasn't 100% accurate than watch a show where they cut up a antique car and make it into something horrible Bob
  12. And you won't. They succeeded in (1) getting the production on the air and (2) getting the sponsorships (i.e. revenue). If they weren't concerned with accuracy before the production, they certainly won't be afterwards. Personally, I don't get too bent out of shape about stuff like this. I go in with the idea that everything produced is first and foremost for revenue generation, not accuracy. I have said for years - there is no reality in reality TV - and this stretches across almost all forms of TV shows today that are either billed as reality programs or documentaries. I still enjoyed the show overall. I just ignored everything that was wrong and overlooked it. Bob
  13. If i were going to get so upset over a TV show I would consider just not watching. True, it is not all that historically correct, they used the wrong cars, etc., etc. but ti is for entertainment first and foremost regardless of what channel it is on. In the big scheme of life, this show is not worth getting upset over. Bob
  14. Yea I thought that was funny in a sad way. Nothing like going backwards to get your Model T replacement LOL. I think most of these documentaries are done on a tight budget and they are more interested in getting the show on the air that spending time to make sure it is accurate Bob
  15. I watched the first episode last night. It was okay overall - not the best I have seen but certainly not the worst. It was interesting but I could have done without the commentary by the NASCAR drivers though. Bob
  16. Here is one that is a little more stock than the other yellow you posted. I don't care for the side skirts but otherwise it isn't a bad looking car IMHO Bob
  17. I had several convertibles with factory removable hardtops. As others have said, the issue is storage but if you have a system in your garage with a hoist, etc. it makes removal and storage much easier. The hardtop is convenient in the winter but otherwise it can be more trouble than it's worth. My wife and I both currently have Mercedes roadsters with the retractable hardtop - it is the best of both worlds - weather tight when needed, open air when wanted and easy storage at the push of a button. This Reatta looks nice but if I want a hardtop Reatta, I would just but the coupe (assuming the hardtop convertible was an option) Bob
  18. I looked at the Reatta database but not sure how accurate that is since several VINs are missing so thought I would ask here. Is there a way to know how many of a certain color combination were built. For example, I have a 1990 Black and tan with tan roof convertible. I counted only 40 in 1990 and 1991 of this color combo but find that hard to believe the number is that low. Also, is there a way to verify that my car came from the factory with a tan roof (vs. a black one) since I know my roof has been replaced? Thanks Bob
  19. I did the Judge's School at Ocala (Winter Meet) and have never received anything as far as correspondence afterwards.
  20. So dumb question. I assume CD player powers on when CD is put in? I see no other button that would turn it on - even on radio. I'm thinking maybe the radio in the car is a GM radio but not the factory radio
  21. The CD player in my 90 convertible will not power on. Is there a separate fuse for the CD player? If not, any idea as to what might be the issue? Thanks Bob
  22. Barney never said anything derogatory about you or your car. He even posted a picture of your engine bay. Not sure why you see the need to criticize him ? Bob
  23. 1990 Buick Reatta convertible. Desirable color combo of black with tan top and tan interior. Car has 130K miles and runs and drives great. All power accessories except 16 way seats, new battery, cold AC and good heat. Car has new tires mounted on Cadillac CTS wheels (I also have factory wheels that go with the car). Top is in good condition but probably needs a real good cleaning to look 100% but no tears, etc. Power windows are a little slow but work well and rear shocks may need replacing in near future. I believe this car is extremely roadworthy. I would rate the car as 9/10 mechanically due to rear shocks, 9/10 on interior ( a little wear on driver' seat) and 7/10 on exterior - paint is mostly original so has a few rock chips and door dings but still very presentable. Car has no rust. This is a nice Driver quality car but isn't a show car but probably could be with a quality respray. I have a clean and clear TN title in hand. Car is located in Fayetteville, TN - 85 miles south of Nashville and 20 miles north of Huntsville, AL. $5500
  24. Could be. I noticed on my office computer, it will not even allow me to click "Remember Me" any more
