  1. Jason: the sign is yours and you can pick it up at my space at Hershey 2016. Thanks Rob, Gene
  2. And they might confer with one of those Eco-Nazis or worse, a lower primate. Maybe a lower primate would have stopped the building from being constructed over the tank- if he had the chance.
  3. Wayne: tree roots that have reached this extent are not going to be resolved, or dissolved by copper sulfate or any other chemicals. If you haven't removed the trees the problem will simply get worse. You should be investigating the installation of a new tank outside the building that can connect to the drain field, and then try to get the old tank pumped out and crushed- or filled with pea gravel or sand. Please remember that biological digestion is taking place in the tank and gasses are produced that are not only Hazardous but can be explosive. You don't want that venting into your building. I know we all like to fix things ourselves, but this sounds like you may need professional help. Good luck!
  4. Sorry, I should have been more clear. I am not willing to ship this thing. Neon is very fragile and the various carriers are way too rough in handling. Instead I will work with someone who is close enough to pick it up. I'll send the pictures to everyone who has asked but at this time there will be no shipping. Thanks.
  5. Original Hudson dealer neon sign. 30 inches by 16 inches. The word "Hudson" is intact, but the first half of "dealer" is gone. Could be restored by neon expert, or simply display as a Hudson artifact. Mounted on original steel frame. Located near Westminster, MD which is 30 minutes south of Gettysburg, Pa. Price is $100 which is payable by check to my church as your tax deductible donation. Send your email by PM for pictures. Can deliver to Gettysburg, Frederick or Rockville, MD.
  6. Nice pair of 3200 fender spear trim emblems. Chrome is good driver quality. Mounting studs are all there.
  7. Nice set of Merc tail-lights. Housings have light pitting on one side of each, but otherwise have nice luster. Plastic lenses seem fine. Price is $100 plus $25 shipping to the US only. Send PM. Thanks.
  8. Nice original Oldsmobile heater by Harrison. Art Deco style with brass knobs. Holds water and fan runs. Price is $45 plus $25 shipping anywhere in the US. Payment by PayPal, personal check, money order .
  9. I think he needs a hug. Wayne, there are no dumpsters on the Hershey flea market field. But there are trash cans. Folks leave car parts, sometimes valuable ones, by the trash cans. Enterprising young (and old) car nuts pluck out the choicest morsels and either use them or sell them. Either way, its less junk the Region workers have to lug off- and some of the items find useful reuse. Demeaning? Don't suggest that to my soon to be 18 year old who has been repeating this ritual for at least 10 years. Oh, he may miss next year- seems he'll be in college studying mechanical engineering- with a career desire in the automotive field. If going to Hershey helped in any way to guide him to this point.......THANKS!
  10. I myself would find it demeaning to the child and would not expose him to that ridicule! Wayne Wayne, you need to get out more. For the last 50 years there has been a ritual that takes place at Hershey on Saturday afternoon. As the thousands of vendors pack up to leave, parts of every variety are left next to the Hershey trash barrels by vendors who feel they have carted that thing around enough. As they depart, a dedicated group of "dumpster divers" circulate the grounds examining the "spoils". I have seen hoods, doors, cylinder heads, and much more left behind. Certainly it would be a shame for useful antique auto parts to be discarded when others might put that part to good use.
  11. Here is a part that my son picked up on his traditional "dumpster diving" run at the end of the Hershey show. Seems to be a hood release, but does anyone have a clue as to the application? Thanks, proceeds from any sale to go to his college fund.
  12. Does anyone know the details about this rebodied Ford that was at Hershey?
  13. Mystery solved. When they showed up at Hershey 2015, I aked them. They are a family from Tennessee and they enjoy history- esp. WW II history. So the children wear the uniforms to spur conversations about the "Great War"; and to show appreciation for those who served. In the picture (above), I think Mr. Coker was simply extolling the virtues of his many product lines.
  14. Wow, we were vendors in the Green Field from Tuesday morning until Saturday afternoon . Certainly we missed the typical crowd of Western European visitors, which hurt our sales, but we still managed to sell enough vintage tin to make the effort worthwhile. Hershey changes each year, but it endures. The Region folks were never more cheerful and friendly and we cannot thank them enough. See you in 2016!
  15. Thanks for the pictures. We intended to spend Thursday and Friday there, with Thursday night in a local hotel with its highly inflated rates. As Thursday wore on, it became clear that the rest of the weekend would be affected by the weather- so we walked the entire swap meet field on Thursday. Certainly there were some vendors who stayed home altogether; and many others who left by Friday morning. Nevertheless, it is always a pleasure to walk the Fairgrounds and look at old car stuff. We cancelled the overpriced hotel room and used Friday to prep for Hershey. It wii be quite a while until Spring Carlisle but we'll be there for sure.
  16. For the hand full of Hershey dash plaque collectors- please stop by my spaces at GAI 18-19 to chat. That's adjacent to the car corral- near the Mark Hyman collection. I will have a nice 1956 plaque that I would love to trade for a 1955 plaque. I'll have a few plaques from later years if you need one to fill out your collection. Tuesday thru Saturday. See you soon.
  17. Any idea as to the manufacturer, application, or year? Thanks.
  18. I think my first trip was about 1978 and I came with my brother. We went on Saturday and walked the entire swap meet field and the show field in a single day. I recall having trouble walking the next day, but that was Sunday so we got to rest. Later I joined the Club (at least twice) and attempted to obtain a swap meet space. We finally found a good friend who shared his spaces in the Chocolate Field South- eventually the Region found me spaces in the (new) Orange Field- we called those spaces "purgatory". After a year or so, the Region graciously relocated us to our "final" spots at GAI 18-19, where we set up each year to sell 1941-1946 Chevrolet and GMC truck parts. Look for the trailer that says "Art Deco Delights!” I did miss one year, that would be 1990, when I got married and didn't watch the calendar until it was too late to change the date. I won't make that mistake again (promise, Hon). Along the way we added two little boys who loved to play hooky from school on Friday and spend the night with dad in the back of some truck. Now the oldest can't play hooky from the Navy and the youngest can't afford to miss AP calculus! He'll make it up Friday after school and we pack as much into Saturday as possible, weather permitting. When I am gone, I have little doubt he'll be right there in GAI 18-19. I KNOW he'll feel very close to me while he's at Hershey. By the way, we set up on Wednesday morning and we keep it going until at least 2pm on Saturday. We need to remake this swap meet into a true Wed-Sat deal so folks who have to work a whole week can come on Saturday and see something other than a bunch of trailers departing (end of rant). We always manage to sell a few things on Saturday morning to make it worthwhile. See you soon!
  19. " I used to think the same way, but Hershey now has become a low baller's paradise." Hershey is what you make it. We sell art-deco Chevy & GMC truck parts ('41-'46), and we have a steady base of customers from Canada, Western Europe, and the US. They come to Hershey each year because it's their special trip of the year- and they buy everything they can reasonably afford to ship or carry back home. Yes, you don't get the crazy "sniped up" price that sometimes happens on Epay. But you don't get the bottom feeder sales either. Since we're not living on this stuff, we set out to have an enjoyable week at one of the greatest auto events in the world- and if we make a few bucks- that's a bonus. As for those who complain that swap meets are in decline- ask yourself who is to blame: The guys who used to be vendors but quit to do Epay (and now complain non-stop about it); or the guys who used to attend every swap meet they could and were actually working on a project. The economy has reset the values of most collectible cars, making them more attractive to many enthusiasts of "normal" means. I attend a load of events, and I see signs of improvement. If you want a better swap meet, get you stuff loaded and be there. Got to go, Fall Carlisle is just around the corner....................
  20. I still do Ebay, but you have to be really careful how you sell everything. I don't rely on it for my living, so we hold back the nice things each year and get them prepared for HERSHEY. 27 days.
  21. "A locking device to set the height of some tractor implement ?" Bingo.
  22. Thanks for the pictures. We were there on Friday also. The special display in the old tractor dealership was impressive- with the first (1967) Camaro ever built, surrounded by a fabulous collection of Yenko Novas and Camaros. BTW, a sign on the door indicates a potential tenant is seeking approval to turn the old John Deere building into a brew pub. The swap meet section was sparse, but worth the walk. Perhaps someday this event will catch up with the wildly successful Ford show. For that to happen the Camaro club will need to return from Frederick; and the Chevelle club from where ever it went. It would also help if GM, the corporation, supported the event as Ford supports that event. Carlisle is a great place for these shows, and the potential is still there for something great.
  23. Interesting curved and fluted glass cover and chrome bezel. Seems to have a snap bracket on the rear. Thanks for your thoughts.
  24. Thanks for the pictures. We were there Saturday and the place was packed with great cars and a nice swap meet. Of course it seems every Mustang ever made was there; but the number of Ford GT's that showed up was amazing; and then there were so many others- from Edsel to Pinto! It just gets better every year.
