  3. We took advantage of a rare day off to travel 2 hours for a mid-winter visit to the Museum today. There were only a few patrons there at 10:30am, but by 2pm a fair number of folks had arrived. We enjoyed the cars from Italy and of course the Tucker collection. We headed up to the upper level to see the mascots and the club dash plaque collections- but as you can see from the picture, the cabinets with the dash plaques were empty. Sad, as I intended to leave the 1954 Pottstown plaque with the Museum. After all, the very first Fall Meet was hosted by the Pottstown Region, as the Hershey Region wouldn't come along until the next year. I guess we'll just hold on to the plaque until these folks sit down and resolve this matter for the benefit of the members. I think they know what needs to be done.
  4. Thanks for all the input. Upon further inspection, there IS a part number cast inside the mount. The number is: 48-1434-A. Anyone able to confirm its use based upon the number? Thanks.
  5. This heavy cast mount came attached to a 16-inch Model-A wheel, so I'll take that as a hint. But it's not one I've seen before. Any idea as to it's actual application: year, model, etc. Thanks.
  6. Found this at Hershey 2016. Heavy cast piece could be a wheel center. Mopar part number 2944404. Any ideas? Thanks.
  7. Two boxes of vintage plugs. One box of AC model K-7; one box of Titan model 3 -( one plug is model 6). The Titan box is excellent, the AC box is very good. The actual plugs are somewhat corroded from sitting. Price is $25 per box with $12 shipping, or take them all for $50 with free shipping. First PM to reserve.
  8. I have a rule that one should not buy an antique car part unless it is needed for a car I already own; or unless I have a real plan to resell the item in the short term. This stuff ages poorly, and with the changing demographics of the hobby, it might lose value while you own it. Several years ago, a noted parts collector in SE Penn. passed away and the auction to liquidate his hoard took 9 days! There are so many people with large collections of this sort, and over the next several years I expect to see some of it coming back into circulation as we all age. Every time I see a part for sale at a swap meet like Hershey, and it still has the paint stick lot number from the hoarder's auction- I just chuckle and reflect upon the future of our hobby!
  9. The RULES say the member has to work in the space; and Fred never wanted to relinquish his prime flea market spot!
  10. Reverse has one mounting stud, threaded, and the number: 6899. Thanks!
  11. Please help ID this mechanical coolant temperature gauge. Found at Hershey- just as the rain drops began. Thanks!
  12. I spent the last two days there and the weather was pretty rough- light drizzle punctuated by hard downpours. It was amazing to see how many vendors stayed until Saturday afternoon; and how many customers streamed through the gates each day. Old car farts are a hardy bunch indeed. Fall Carlisle has become the dress rehearsal for Hershey and the old iron was in good supply. I didn't get a price on the complete Ford front end- but it sure looked nice! Congratulations to the Carlisle Events staff for putting on a great event under these conditions.
  13. There is a post office in Hummelstown. I have shipped priority mail from there. They have the boxes and if you ask they have tape. The books and literature you can ship media mail, but you'll need your own box. Sometimes they get pissy about media mail for older books- so tell the you are shipping college textbooks.
  14. In 1978 I needed a "new" car to drive to work at my first real job- fresh out of college. I stopped in at a friend's auto recycling business, back then we called it a junkyard. He had just purchased a 1976 Cosworth Vega from a "repo yard". It had but 28,000 miles and it was actually affordable. Priced right with a '76 Corvette, Chevy advertised it as "One Vega for the Price of Two!". I didn't care, I got in the thing for under $2000. Over the next decade I drove the Cosworth about 140,000 miles; joined the Cosworth Vega Owners Association (still active today); hosted the CVOA National Round-Up in Historic Gettysburg,Pa; and learned how to tune one of the most advanced engines GM ever built. When I caught the autocross bug, the Bosch EFI gave way to twin Webers and a hotter camshaft. A writer with Autoweek magazine drove the car and then published an article in the magazine- declaring that my car unlocked the potential that GM had bottled up in the little twin-cam. This morning, you drove past countless sedans with twin overhead cam engines with fuel injection. In 1976, not so much. The Cosworth Vega showed GM it COULD build a nice small car with decent performance. Very soon you'll see one of the carefully preserved examples on the show-field at Hershey. When you do, stop for a moment and consider its place in automotive history.
  15. Nice emblem. Small blemish on left hand side, but great for a driver. $40 with free delivery to Hershey, or $5 shipping to the US only. Send PM.
  16. I love those art-deco marker light units on the front fenders. So did Chevy and GMC- they recycled them onto the 1941 trucks!
  17. 4 2/3 inch outside diameter, distinctive floral border border. I would guess 1935 to 1938, but what? Glass lens, retained by split ring, Thanks
  18. Listing for an older friend. He has owned this panel delivery since 1980. Runs and drives, but has been parked inside for several years and needs to be driven. Body is completely stock and with the exception of a mural on the sides- it is original. painted last about 1982, there are minor rust issues, primarily in the doors, that should be addressed. Drive-train includes a later, 1948, flat-head V-8, the original 3-speed manual, and a slightly later Mercury rear end. The interior is mildly customized with a pair of high-back bucket seats and some brown velour fabric- but could be easily restored to original condition. Overall, a rare model in solid condition that begs to be restored and enjoyed. Priced accordingly at $15,000. Located near Westminster, MD- about 1.5 hours south of Carlisle; and about 2 hours from Hershey. Available for inspection upon request. Owner will be at Hershey (Wednesday thru Saturday) without the vehicle. Send PM for additional information or to arrange an inspection.
  19. Nice trio of Buick Wheelcovers. Very good driver quality with most of the original paint remaining. $25 gets the three. No shipping- pay now, pick up anytime during Hershey week at my spaces in the Green Field- just off the car corral near the Hyman collection. Pick up at Fall Carlisle also available. Send pm to reserve. PayPal or personal check ok.
  20. Any idea what these might fit. I bought them for my '46 Chevy truck, but the inside end is incorrect. Thanks.
  21. Saturday was a nice day. Overcast and light sprinkles in the morning kept the temperatures down. Great display of cars including some rare and unusual models. A 1960 Edsel in its original condition was a highlight. Nice to see the collection of Oakland's as the featured marque. Sadly, the swap meet continues to shrink; and many of the vendors complained that this would be their last year. A large section of the swap field was given over to a strange BBQ contest- one without any tasting by the audience. I guess we were supposed to take the judges word on it.
  22. Great old K-M tool, Midel J-800. Align those king pin cars, or just enjoy the vintage tool. $50 plus $10 shipping to the US. Send PM to hold. PayPal, personal check, money order.
  23. Thanks for the nudge in that direction. One is '58, the other is '60.
