Has anyone used Trusty Transport to haul a collector car?
gungeey replied to greenie's topic in General Discussion
I have used intercitylines ( www.intercitylines.com ) . Very good. I believe it is $1300 Ca to East Coast.Steve -
That came with (almost) every new '85 LeSabre Collectors Edition. I say almost 'cause I never got mine when I got my 85... Pretty sure there was a gold key, and your manuals in there, you might think it's a neat story, I didn't LOL, Good car though. never left me walking, too much on it' last leg at 135,000...if my current toyota ever stops, I'm going back to Buick if they still hjave a Made in USA model at that time...any hopes of a Big Block Rear Wheel Drive Hardtop...LOL...Steve

Jonnyopa, Sounds like you have an excellent grasp of the value of 60 Buicks. Let me know if you come across a 60 Convertible rust/filler free. Preferably a dark color with A/C and power vent windows. Thanks, Steve gun-G@excite.com

Sure, type them on here, we can give you most if not all...unless the paint is a "*" -
The engine will turn over, start, and run fine with the dist you have now. There will be a noticable improvement with the 2x4 weights and springs, though. If you have an auto parts store that stocks these...I want their address!! The difference in distributors is in the weights and springs.See pic for comparison. I had a spare set, I lent them to a guy in Alaska to make copies of...of course, he has disappeared The 2x4 setup is on the right...Steve

I would be interested in hearing about it along with some digital pics I take it the car's in Tennessee??Steve gun-G@excite.com -
I don't think the AAMCO rule applied to most of our 30, 40, 50 year old cars, though. Our old cars were far from sealed units! It even states in my factory chassis manual that my rear end gear oil need never be changed...well, let me tell you, I vacuumed out the 40 year old fluid. IT needed to be changed!!It was like molasses. I do believe my Buick thanked me for it. Another thought: Even though the axle bearings are sealed, the grease still dries up over time. Those bearings go and it either wears the machined surface of the axle or the machined area in the axle housing. Very bad news! If the retainer breaks loose, the axle will either come out to the quarterpanel, or rip its way through depending on speed. At the very least, your looking at a new axle or a rear end. Cheaper to pay for new bearings and someone to press them on. Your Buick will love you for it, and you'll have more piece of mind with the kids in the back seat on the highway! Just my 2 cents... Steve PS...any debris in the transmission pan USED TO be part of the transmission. The strainer/screen/filter makes sure it doesn't enter again. You don't want to use steel and brass filings as a lubricant!

I see. I thought the Cutlass was an upgrade of the F-85, and in '64 the 442 was an option package on the Cutlass! So, I learned something tooday already! And it's only noon time! Well if it has the F-85 emblems, where did the scripts or fenders come from? A '63? Thanks. When i go Friday to look a her, I'll bring a camera and post...maybe someone else'll be interested if I decline. Thanks, Steve

Hi Folks, I'm normally around Buicks, but am looking at the above vehicle on Friday. I looked at www.nada.com and they don't list a convertible!! Is this a backyard job or did they exist? Has a rebuilt 350/Edelbrock manifold/cam and carb/headers, Turbo 400 Trans, Chevelle posi rear, new brakes...I realize it's not original.. car is in epoxy primer. Rebuilt HIPO aftermarket suspension..I will bring a magnet and a jack. Since I can't get a price guideline online, the price is $2400 and comes with a load of parts. can anyone give me some direction as to price ?? I figure if it's solid metal and running strong it's worth the $$ even if interior is a dog. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

I paid $600 in 1995. It came with a new torque converter. Removal and reinstallation by yours truly. If they do reputable work, sounds OK to me...how much did you think the rebuild should cost? Good luck, Steve

When flip, curt responses are left by those asking for help, it can leave a sour taste in the mouth of the well intentioned. Just goes to show you...Some people, you just can't do enough for! Don't let it get you down, MartinSr, WildBill. PS...I can see why Poston's had a hard time with the guy??!!

was the $2500 before the "injury"? What is the extent of the "injury"? And what is the extent of the "Song"? Thanks, Steve
