  1. You 'cat lovers might bump into this sucker some day!! Steve
  2. Where is the plater in NH, do they handle potmetal and why did you choose them? I inquire as I have a cars worth of parts to be replated. I had a plan of trying tri-city plating in Tenn. and Superior Plating in TX for the potmetal on this project.. Prices seem decent, at least compared to the plater near me in MA. Would prefer to deal with driving the parts as opposed to shipping, not only with cost savings but I can sometimes be a tad "fussy". I let those doing work for me know about it up front, and their knowing I can show up at their door helps get it right the first time, I think. Thanks for any input..Steve
  3. Makes me want to take a run to the local gin mill...Steve
  4. Feb05 Old car prices has no listing for your car. '85 T-type #3 condition 4000US V-8 coupe 4000 V-8 Conv 9200 Of little help to you might be that in 86 the t-type coupe added little (80 bucks)price boost over the standard coupe, but was less limited in manufacture at 2042 units. No convertible in '86. Perhaps you could post an exterior and engine compartment picture? At any rate, you car sounds interesting and would need more research before I parted with it...if you do indeed come upon a price please let me know..I do believe there was a feature article in the Riv Owners Assoc magazine about an '85 t-type coupe...if it contains any info I will post here again Steve gun-G@excite.com
  5. I am not having much luck with a chroming/potmetal shop in my area (MA). I don't mind the 4 hour drive ea way, but I am finicky, espcially when it comes to laying out substantial funds. I would like someone within driving distance so I can hand deliver... Anybody used Kings before? Any suggestions in the New England area? Thanks, Steve
  6. thank you, that is what I needed to know. was just tryint to set him up with a four barrel for zip. Steve
  7. An acquaintance has a 60 lesabre with a 364 (2 barrle carb). Will my spare 401 4 barrel intake work for him? Thanks, Steve
  8. Based on those two pics of your very nice '59, I believe I can safely place your car smack dab on a 3. A very nice driver quality automobile that can be used and enjoyed as is. (Unless you had to push it into position!) Steve
  9. What is an O Ring Block? Thanks, Steve
  10. OK, let me take one more stab at it... A) pull the strap,is there a phillips head screw in behind there? feel the vinyl strap for a hole at the end where the center of the box . the screw may be inside the vinyl and may need to be slit with a razor, then glued when done. Steve
  11. A guess: The finish trim on each side of the handle needs to be pryed off/open and will reveal screws that need removal. Steve
  12. I would estimate at between 45 and 80 bucks. Steve
  13. Nice to see a club member being generous with another! It shouldn't be a rare occurrence! Steve
  14. Try www.vmrintl.com Current Old Cars Price Guide 1959 4600 V8 2d HT #1 $23000 US 2 16100 3 9200 4 4600 Don't you guys have professional appraisers over there??! I can't see too much relevence in the application of the pricing guide for your circumstances, though. Perhaps your insurance Co. will use whatever info you can dig up for them...Good luck, Steve
  15. Old cars price GUIDE Oct04: #1=35000 Too Perfect, not driven #2=24500 Close to perfect, driven quite sparingly #3=14000 Nice car, driven weekends #4=7000 Good driver needs work, daily driver #5=4200 Restorable, some rust, running's a plus #6=1400 Parts bin, wouldn't dare try Notice the word "guide" being emphasized..Looks like the seller knows his prices I would ask the question: Do I love it so much that I am willing to go into debt over it?? Only you and yours can decide.. Steve
  16. The ebay item you were inquiring about is a perfect fit. Made in Japan. I have used that exact part and they fit and work perfectly. Plus, the price is right. Steve
  17. Michael, Just be aware that 225/75R15's on the first generation Rivieras DO RUB THE FRAME before the end travel of the steering gear because of the radials geometry. Other than that the ride quality of the radial vs. bias ply is quite substantial. With bias plys a relaxing ride becomes a lot more work. I have 8.55x15's on my'65 ( which is only one-tenth of an inch wider than original) and they too slightly touch the frame. I wouldn't be overly critical about the rub, you just need to be aware of it and learn your new amount of travel. Steve

  20. You know Dave, you shouldn't blow off others vision quite so easily. Your reports say months, mine say 50 years. You find greenhouse/global warming proof, I'll site numerous collections of data citing the opposite. You say no oil in Alaska? Well, I commend you on being the expert of all once again. After all, if Dave says so...it MUST BE TRUE. No more replies from me on this topic. Again, Steve
  21. Pure opinion on my part: This situation reaches far deeper into my pockets than the extra ten bucks I have to pull out at the gas station. You seem confused in that these soaring prices eat into company profits...this is only a temporary condition. Prices will soon reflect the new prices companies require to stay in the black along with an allowance factored in for the momentary loss before price adjustment and likely an estimate of future oil price increases. Part B of my opinion is that despite the claims of increased world demand etc causing these spiraling prices, my speculation is that this is no more than payback for our interference in mid-east affairs. As prices continue rising the environmentalists will demand of their reps on Capital Hill that we need BIG drill bits up in Alaska, and quick. Finally, as a cocky arrogant American, I reserve the right to not give a rats ass how much the europeans are willing to pay for their petrol. They don't have BUICKS. WE DO. Steve
  22. Michael, Order a free catalog from www.eastwood.com . Almost positive they carry rattle can crinkle finish red paint for your Rivie. PS...Forget the paint til next winter! Get her out on the road! Steve
  23. Michael, You are correct in that silver would be the correct color for your 63 Riv engine. CARS Inc has a quality paint, but not cheap. I have used silver engine paint by Rustoleum with good results too. Their primer (for the rustoleum) is necessary. The inner fenders are painted Krylon Semi-Gloss (rattle can). I would suggest joining the Riviera Owners Association ( www.rivowners.org ) to fing accurate guidance in your resto. The dues are $35 a year. They also have an online discussion group with ongoing Riv topics free to all with an interest in any year Riviera. Good luck, Steve
  24. Bob, You call that a "Parts Car"? Looks like it's still got 75K left in her!! Steve
