  1. Vincent I would urge to reconsider your thoughts. I think that Reatta owners dont get the respect that the car deserves but that is slowly changing. I have been to several Nationals so far and each time I meet new people and my wife and I enjoy the company. We go for the food at and a change of places to eat that is not in our part of the company. We have met some life long friends and keep in touch thru the year. Our cars will get the respect that we/ they deserve, we just need to have fun doing that. The Reatta Rendezvous is always a good time and that is one of the reasons that we go. I in turn would be more active if I had more time. I think that the leaders of the club do a good job and we have one of the best Magazines in the country for car clubs. Have you seen the others. The Bugle alone is worth the price of membership. Think about it Chuck from Kansas
  2. No I am not a member of the ROA yet. I will be shortly, I do belong to the BCA Reatta Div. Mulvane Marauders car club, and the Falcon Club of America. Time wont allow me to get to Ill this year, I will be going to the Buick Nationals in Flint in July. I hope to have the Riv back in Wichita by then. A buddy of mime has looked at the car but I have not seen it. Only photos. I know I am crazy. I plan to restore the car as necessary and enter it in the 400 judged meet in Colo Next year Chuck
  3. car is still in St. Louis at a dealer, I have to transport to Wichita, dont know how I am going to do that yet. zTime is an issue for the next 30 days. I was thinking of driving it to Flint in July but I just dont know right now. I have a couple of Reattas that I want to take to Flint also, but with the cost of gas I might fly. Oh well life is short.
  4. Nic I totally agree here, have him rent a storage unit if he wants to keep the car. I made a promise to my son to keep the car, so he pays the storage. I check on it from time to time while he is away but he pays the bill. and I made him pay it for the year. It is really the only way to store a car for a long period.
  5. Ok I have now purchased a 1984 Riviera convertible. Less than 60000 miles. White appears to be in great shape. I have never owned a Riv so I will be on the learning curve for a while.
  6. Kathy and I are planning to make the trip but we most likely not drive the Reatta, Just too far but we will make a 2 day trip of it. Hopefully gas will stop going thru the roof before July. We will arrive in Flint some time on Wednesday and will be at the meetings on Thursday. I hope that anyone who has a Pewter model brings it with you so we can compare. Remember some of them have numbers in the muffler some dont. Mine has PROOF on the muffler. I would like to see other examples to see if they were made by the same company.
  7. thanks Jim I might just hook up a trailer and go get it myself. Had not thought about a broker, good point.
  8. I have purchased a Riviera convertible and it is in St. Louis, has anyone had any experience with a transporter lately that I can contact to transport the car There are lots of companys out there, but I am not familar with any of them. Car would go from St. Louis to Wichita Kansas about 500 miles Thanks
  9. that why the accumulators fail the brake fluid penetrates the membrane and the nitrogen charge escapes and the bulb fills with fluid. presto no pressure to the brakes.
  10. well did you get your part, did it fix your problems? Keep us posted
  11. just a guess but I would start with 3 things. Pressure switch, accumulator, pump. Accumulator is suspect in what you post. Just a guess at this point. Jim Finn would have the pressure most likely and You can still order the accumulator from GM Parts direct Good Luck
  12. yep have changed the oil in boats that way for years
  13. It is down another penny today, wonder why it is so high in Chicago. It dont make sense. They tore down an old refinery yesterday in Wichita and are shipping the tanks to Texas. You gotta wonder who is calling the shots. We grow lots of wheat in Kansas and the farmers are doing very well. E85?
  14. Howard get a copy of Old Cars price guide and give the ins company the information listed. It lists an 89 Reatta is no 3 condition at $6750.00 no 2 cond at $10,500 and no 1 cond at $15000.00. You can purchase a lot of Reatta's but from I am seeing on the market, a lot of cars are requiring a lot of restoration. Good luck I think the value of good cars is going to continue to up in the future. Hold your ground.I am in the process of buying a Riviera convertible and if my wife give me much guff, my blue car might be on the market. I dont know Texas law but the car was in the hands of the mechanic and liablilty would fall back on him if the driver of the other car didnt have ins. I am not a lawyer but I always win. If you cant find a price guide let me know and I can fax you the info Good luck Chuck
  15. Jim you taking photos of the gas signs or the cars at the cruise in? What do you plan to post?

  22. I know some of you guys are really car smart, but I was having a conversation yesterday and was told that the indy 500 has cars made for the indy 500 festival and they are called festival cars. These cars are used to move vip's around for the race. Has anyone heard of such a thing? These are not the pace cars but i am told they are usually everyday convertibles with indy markings. I am just looking for information. any help? Thanks
