  1. Mike, if you haven't done so already join the Dodge Brothers Club. Armed with a club roster you should be able to find others near you. The club is also starting a region program. Not sure if all the details have been ironed out yet. There are other groups of the AACA that you might check into.
  2. Mike, maybe you better shoot us a picture. The "ugly black cap" is supposed to be nickeled and has a vent tube about an inch or so on top. What did you do with that?
  3. HV is a past president of AACA, but you may not know that.
  4. Bigmark, I've sent you a message. Payment can be sent to the address in the DBC newsletter or if you do not get the newsletter send a message from here. We make non-members wash dishes!
  5. Mark, the reprint mechanics instruction manual puts that date between mar.22 and apr.25.1918
  6. I'm not sure why the club officers refuse to use this site to inform members what is going on, but the club spaces at Hershey have been moved. The spaces in the last newsletter are incorrect. The Orange field was paved and has islands and driveways in it requireing it to be laid out differantly. The REAL spaces are OAG 25,26,27. This is NO fault of Hershey region or AACA national, Herco made the changes. To me it will be a big improvement. The entire flea market area AND car corral will be on blacktop. The only grass is the show field for Sat. which also has some improvements. Make it easy on yourself and me, buy your dinner tickets NOW! There aren't very many left.
  7. BTT, get them NOW! Don't wait, the DBC spaces were moved because the Orange field was reconfigured. You may not find the club.
  8. Charlie, a good part of the 100 acres of golf course in verticle. They are useing the best and most accessible area for the show field.
  9. I've not seen Tom's 600 wt. The thickest oil I've found isn't much thicker then the OLD 90 wt. Even the 600 steam cylinder oil I bought won't hold a screwdriver very long.
  10. As Rodger only checks once in while, I will try to help. The grease cup only lubes the throw out bearing. The track lube is the trans oil. I've not heard this term before, but I am familiar with steam cylinder oil. I found some at a oil dealer in Allentown, PA. that supplies Stroudsburg rail road. The shipping is the killer, I won't have it UPSed again. Shipping was almost as much as the oil. With a home made paddle on a piece of threaded rod the grease can be dissolved into the oil to thicken to the right consistancy.
  11. I'm not sure what year you are working with. My feeling would be rebuild the original properly and maintain it. To find a dual unit that would give the right proportion front to back might be difficult. I think the failures you remember were on cars used every day that may not have had their fluid changed to get rid of the water. Fluid should be changed often, maybe once a year depending on use and storage.
  12. Gee Rick, so you really went?? What was the special event at the closing banquet I heard about?
  13. BTW Rick, I have friend that ONLY uses Passport Transport.
  14. If it were a Dodge Brotehrs you could just drive it.
  15. Before you pull the head, talk to a buddy that works at a repair shop. They have a sniffer that can be stuck in the radiator to check for exhaust fumes.
  16. Borrow an infrared and check all corners of the radiator. A cold spot will indicate a blockage. They are only about $40 if you can justify one. IS the water pump any good? Did you flush all the crud out when yoou changed the hoses? When it's hot would be a good time to take off a hose and flush it. And the timing will cause overheating. Advance working?? No vacumm leaks?
  17. Cool. IS the picnic lunch packed yet? Sure hope you're registered for HPOF at Hershey!
  18. The neatest "trunk" I've ever seen on a DB was wicker. Picture a flat topped wicker basket that would fit on the right front running board, follows contour of the fender up to the headlight, verticle at the cowl. It was about as high as the headlight. Could probably fit a small body in it. I have a picture somewhere, but I don't have a scanner.
  19. I don't think the map shows the location of the car corral. That map is from last year, is it the same place?
  20. Sounds to me like your wife better pack a picnic lunch, you'll be on the road in no time. IS the plunger galled on the sides? MAke sure it slids easily, you're on your way.
