  1. There's usually lots of reddish dust around the spiders too, but not always.
  2. Some really cool pics, Thanks for posting the link. I think the 2 sedans that are on the side are the same car. Look how bald the tires are!
  3. Mike, have you looked in a McMaster-Carr catelog for your spring? They have lots of ol' DB parts in there, but they label them differant!! I can't find anything on their website, I need paper to hold onto. Springs are pretty much industry standard, measure the diameter, length, etc. with a caliper or micrometer. Or try Lee Springs.
  4. About the only picture book is The Dodge Story by Thomas McPherson. Black and white fuzzy pictures, some text. I sure wish there was a better one. For DB history try Charles Hyde's book The Dodge Brothers.
  5. 10-4 on that!! Especially the beast part.
  6. I think the '27 actually had 5 differant engine configurations, all similar but differant. You may have to get the next edition of the Book of Information to get the real info for your particular engine. The B of I was changed when enough significant changes to the car were made to warrant a reprint. The changes didn't necessarily happen with year changes. Budd made almost all the DB bodies.
  7. Ebay. On second thought, what flavor are you looking for Rick? My neighbor has some oddballs.
  8. '37, I could live with him taking his own picture but when Bo Duke started singing I threw in the towel. I darned near threw up.
  9. I finally feel the time wasted was worth it, Lovely Linda appeared!! Yahoo! Now we're talkin' fantasy!!
  10. '37, what would you do with a post-War car? How 'bout you buy me the Blastolene car?
  11. Not everyone can buy big $$ cars like you, even in a fantasy. I think reality MIGHT be setting in on their prices. Have you noticed all the confusion about who had the last bids and double bidders, etc.? I'm thinking they are trying to save the owners from getting stuck with the last bid. Just last week they settled the lawsuit from last year, for "undisclosed arrangements".
  12. How early are the Beetle and Ghia parts?
  13. Steve, there's a blue one in H-town, I think it's for sale. Oops, that's a '47ish, sorry.
  14. Wenthur, can you show us a picture of what you need?
  15. That eliminates a few things. Like Rick said, there's a vent in the top of the vacuum tank that could be clogged. Did you just buy the car, could it have been sitting, how about a wasp clogging up the vent? WHile you are waiting for it to restart can you hear the carb gurgle like gas is running into it? Next time it quits can you open the drain on the carb and see if there's gas in it?? My first thought was ignition, have you done anything there? A bad condensor will run for a while, heat up and short out, then when cool will restart. These things are fun!! I wasted lots of time chaseing a backfireing problem that turned out to be a carbon track around the distributor cap. The car ran good for anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes, then crossfired and belched black smoke. I'm sure there will be other suggestions too. Be very methodical and make sure you try one thing at a time. Even that way it may correct this problem but start another.
  16. One thing at a time, it could be several things. But it' probably easy. What do you do to FIX it? Tap it, let it sit, crank it?? How long does it take before it starts? How does it run when it restarts? rough, smooth??
  17. If you are not a member already, join the AACA and the Dodge Brothers Club. Both newsletters are worth the price of membership, PLUS LOTS of extras. Your wheels were made by Budd.
  18. Nice car, are you just going to drive it? You sure made a move UP.
  19. I'm not sure what the octopus snaps are, but my '24 Fisher coupe had carpet held in with snaps from the factory. All that's left is the male end, they are normal round snaps about 3/8 inch like has been used on convertible top covers for years. I'm sure McMaster-CArr has new ones. Every Fisher coupe I've looked at either has the male pieces or evidence of them being there, but no one I've found yet has a piece of original carpet to copy color, texture or edgeing.
  20. Thanks, that too far of a towjob for me but might help someone else.
  21. 10-4 Stevie G. Let me make sure it's OK with the other Steve before we copy it as it was in the AACA newsletter.
  22. Packard V8, the reason for this request is for easy ID at a car show. I'm betting you would be easier to pick out of the crowd then say John Jones. At least you would probably be wearing a Packard hat, unlike Mr. Jones that probably doesn't have a Jones hat.
  23. Am I the only one that didn't know that when DB started to use colors they painted ALL cars one color for several weeks, the switched colors for a few weeks, etc.? I just became aware of this recently. I have a list of dates they changed and serial numbers if anyone is interested.
