  1. bill, please have your freind bring it. i'd love to see it.
  2. very accurate description on the show except for one thing. the GIANT contribution to the project was a giant sign. the pennsylvania taxpayers paid for the rest of the building thanks to our ex-govenor tom ridge. and all that for the benefit of you know who. HERCO
  3. i'm not frank, but i found one at an auction a few years ago. mine is a 1939 edition, paid about $15 for it and you nor anyone else couldn't buy it for $100. they're about 3 inches thick and explain everything you ever wanted to know about a car. happy hunting.
  4. my neighbor has a 17 db he is putting together, same ignition. in looking for extra parts for his car i was told by an ignition dealer at carlisle the distributor and parts are the same as cadillac that had dual ignition. he also had a cap he thought was worth $200.
  5. i also just discovered another problem,[ question].the 4 budd wheels i had before came off of a 26 db and were 21 inch, the 2 budd wheels i bought at hershey supposedly came from a 25 db and are 20 inch. there is a 24 db touring on ebay with budd wheels and the guy says it has 32X4 tires. my 21 inch wheels had 4X21 tires. what diameter budd wheels should my 1924 db have on it??????? the master parts book has no info on budds. it says to look in the master price book for all info on them. i don't have a master price book , can anyone help?
  6. what about using 14mm long reach plugs with a threaded adapter from 14mm to 18mm?
  7. are there any markings on the wheel? date stamp, size, manufactures logo, etc.?
  8. i found 2 more budd wheels at hershey. they still had enough dark blue paint on them to get a match. question is, would they have been painted the official dodge blue? the backs were painted black, is that correct? how the heck do you put the tire and safety band on without scratching the new paint? can the tire be put on from the back after bead is seated? leadfoot, are you still out there?
  9. these are all good ideas. if you are going to use the plate[1\2 inch or so] use a big enough plate that you can use another good head stud to hold it in place or c-clamp it in place. borrow a magnetic base drill if you can. they sit on top of the block andwill stay perpendicular to top. if you're going to weld the nut on the brocken stud, have someone tig weld it for you. it will be much more precise and controlable than stick welding. most of all don't be scared, it's only a piece of metal and it can be fixed.if you ruin the thread you can still put a threaded insert or helicoil in it, but that's another thread.
  10. i haven't found dodge brothers specification but most pumps use .002 or .003 clearance. you can use emory cloth on a flat surface to lap your gears or end plate.taping the emory to a sheet of glass works.
  11. follow jan arnett's advice. i ruined an engine switching to detergent oil. it blocked the oil filter so bad the oil pressure light wouldn't go off . filter must have weighed 10 lbs. when i changed it. the engine started useing large amounts of oil after that.
  12. thanks for responses. compression seemed too low at 45psi. the new gasket was the copper one but it was pretty beat up, so i used permatex on both sides. since getting it running yesterday the dripping around the edges seems to have stopped. it pulls both steep hills going to my neighbor's house in high gear. and i can stall the engine by holding my hand over the exhaust. so i guess it's ok. most of my knowledge is from the 60's and 70's having a hard time adapting.
  13. can you hear me now? you're the one that advertised the parts, are you still there? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" />
  14. thank you that makes me feel better. didn't find anything in book of information except description of the four cycles . there it says during compression stroke engine gets about 65 psi charge. thanks for your input.
  15. this is how rumors get started!! today in the newspaper it said cher tues. 15. i know my wife said fri. 15, then fri. 12. when i confronted her about tues. 15 in the newspaper she said THEY said fri. so THEY must have gotten it mixed up because like i said it would have been her first mistake.
  16. my neighbor needs an oil fill cap for a 17 if it's the same. and front seat for a touring. i'll ask him for other needs.
  17. how about a clear windshield for a 63 corvair pickup?
  18. it's pretty hard to follow that LIS but here goes. i thought i heard her say the 15th but i know she said fri. night. she actually said the 12th. i know she didn't make a mistake because it would be the first one.
  19. my wife just said cher[used to be married to sonny bonehead] is opening the new giant center with a concert, oct. 15 fri. night. does anyone know where that is located??????
  20. thanks, i had the head surfaced, no cracks. the gasket weeps collant several places around the outside. the compression is evan but seems low, 45 psi.i was told by another db member 50 is ok. still seems low. with low compression ratio of db's will gauge reading also be low?
  21. what should compression read on a gauge for a 4 cylinder db? is there some trick to getting stainless valves to seat? and why does my brand new $68 headgasket leak antifreeze to the outside of the engine?
  22. dave@moon, what does not show in the site address is _ between index and hood.if you can't get there email me at daw1@comcast.net and i will link it to you.it's a great site in sweden, i think.
