  1. i'm assuming you mean wooden wheels. i used a piece of broken glass and a dull chisel to scrape mine. i'm not sure i would use stripper. it might hide in the cracks and crevices[sp?] and bleed into you new paint.
  2. i have a 63 owners manual. covers lesabre, invicta, wildcat, and electra225. it has a number, probably serial no. , written on cover and the words glacier blue penciled on first page. there's 2 service verifications missing, nothing written on last page for owner id. it is in very good condition, no stains or tears. $10 and i'll pay the postage in U.S.A. email at daw1@comcast.net
  3. skyking, that very thing happened locally about 3 years ago. some guys loaded a new frig on a truck, bungied it down and were discussing there work. hooked the one guy right in the eye.
  4. it does have shoulder harness. didn't think of them being used seperate from lap belt. thanks for the info
  5. thanks for the answers. does the buick club have a library?could the club use these for everyone's benifit?
  6. looking through the 68 Buick owner's manual there's an ad in back for a "positive 35mm" film available from the General. has anyone seen, own, know of this film? has anyone converted it to vhs? the Dodge Brothers club converted some old factory film and made it available to members. it's a great look at how these cars were really built. it sounds as if the Buick film is just tech info, does anyone know for sure? it says it goes back to 1910. thanks
  7. i've been finally working on the 68 electra. can anyone explain why there's 5 seperate seatbelts in the front?
  8. Keith, it sounds like you need to make a journey south about 60 miles. i have an old neighbor with a 20 db that might be able to help with some info.
  9. Keith, do you have wooden wheels or steel disc? if they are disc they could be 20 inch.
  10. i used to keep paint thinner in an old dr.pepper bottle until late one night i got my bottles mixed up.
  11. close to subject, has anyone looked at the 24 db business coupe on ebay? it's a good looking car. there is a cover over the fuse on starter-generator. is this a factory item? what is it made of?
  12. jan, i just gave qual krome 5 pieces to nickel today, all db parts. try 814-899-8546 in erie, pa. didn't seem like any big deal for them to do.
  13. if you are still interested in metal forming try www.metalshapers.com. there's some amazing stuff being done there by some very talented people.
  14. the aircooled VW people call these things 'swamp coolers'.
  15. big daddy don garlits has one in his museum in ocala, fl. if you can find him he'll talk your ear off about most any car he owns. he's my hero.
  16. 10-4 on these ideas. but before you comdemn the vacuumm tank, eliminate it with a small gravity tank from a lawn mower. hook the tank directly to the carb and see if it fixes the problem.
  17. yea, but it was also proven he faked the film of the Corvair and the Falcon. i don't believe anything he says. all the things he messed with in the name of safety and they still didn't fix the worst thing of all. the nut behind the wheel.
  18. last time i saw it advertised, about 2 months ago, he didn't have pictures of the house or any parts. just a few beat up cars and the aerial view. no takers then either.
  19. hey RR, next time when you get a hole thats very close but not quite centered or square to surface, take that same dremal bit and carefully go into the hole. cut on the thick side of the stud, not the side you can see threads. go straight up and down as to cut the stud in half until you can see threads there too. then take a small punch. you can usually fold the pieces over on each other which loosens them enough to wind them out of the original thread. i've taken broken sparkplugs out of aluminum heads like this, saved putting an insert in. btw, not knowing what engine you're working on, but i dought if the crumbs you created will interfere with the piston.
  20. for your gas tank some radiator shops will cook them for you.they use a lye based chemical that will clean it pretty good. for hard rust inside i've made up a solution of driveway stones, sand, and enough water to make a slurry. then agitate with an electric drill with a bent rod or strap it to your lawn mower and let the kids ride around for awhile. if you try glass beading the tank make sure all the gas fumes are out first. there's also a good sealer called RED-KOTE, from Damon Ind. the phone no. on the can is 1-800-362-9850. as far as your carb, i've fixed vacuum tanks with QUIK-POLY. gas didn't eat it up.
  21. yes, i think you were correct in your suggestion. thank you. if the wheels are in fact galvanized, there is paint available that matches the blochy look of zinc. i'm not sure which plating they had but would think either would be hard to find and expensive.
  22. jan, are you sure the rims are cadmium plated , or are they galvanized? my neighbor with the truck cowl has some rims that look more like they were galvanized, which is zinc.
