  1. For anyone interested in making a memorial contribution in memory of Dan Binger, his widow Judy suggested that I advise his friends on the Forum that Dan would be so pleased if any contributions would be made exclusively to the AACA LIBRARY and RESEARCH CENTER.
  2. For those of you who knew Dan and might wish to send a card of condolence to his widow Judy, here is their mailing address. Mrs. Daniel R. Binger 3613 Bevans St. Cheyenne, WY 82001 The funeral is scheduled for 2 PM on Tuesday the 25th.\ Howard Scotland
  3. Glenn: I have been gone from the forum for about 18 months, but am still alive and well, though terribly saddened at this time. I have lost a long time, dear friend and the car hobby has lost a great enthusiast and supporter. Dan was too young for this to happen being 12 years younger than I. He was attending an old car tour, but not driving, at the moment he left us, and it happened in an instant. We can take some comfort in knowing that he was doing that which he dearly loved, old car touring. Although I do not plan on returning to the Forum, should there be any further information on Dan that is appropriate to be posted here, I will do that. Howard Scotland
  4. I believe the Buick wire wheels were also available as an extra cost option on the '54,'55 &'56 Centurys, Supers & Roadmasters. They were not offered on the Specials. Just a little unasked for information.
  5. Thank you, sir. I guess I had better not wait until the Reliability Tour in New Hampshire to get mine. I can't make Hershey this year and I like to buy late and hopefully be on the top of the pile when the winner is drawn. I know they spin the drum, but every little edge helps.
  6. Will we be able to buy these raffle tickets at all AACA meets and tours this year?

In the event that the contact in the socket doesn't touch both of the contacts on the bulb, you can lay a bead of solder across the contacts on a dual filament bulb. I have been doing that successfully for years.
  8. Yeah, get him out here so we can all have a ball.
  9. In this picture of the "Four Cabelleros", Senor "See No Evil" is the long suffering spouse of a recently retired AACA Director. This identification provideed by Senor "Do No Evil"
  10. Yes, Wayne. Dan is an old soldier" too. US Army. This picture makes them look like Civil War Veterans at the 75th reunion of the Gettysburg veterans in 1938. Frightening because they are both 7-10 years younger than I am. Sr. Escocia
  11. Would think the greatest threat would be to pre-WW-II vehicles without hardened-valves that are run hard... <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> </div></div> Any damn fool who runs one of those cars hard today, other than a true racing vehicle, deserves what he gets.
  12. Remember, tetraethyl lead was introduced by Charles Kettering in 1924 and came into general use by 1926-27. No engine built before that time can possibly need leaded gas or lead addatives, because they weren't designed to take advantage of it. Also realize that 4, 5 and 6 to 1 compression ratios are really not putting a heavy load on an engine. Now 10.5 to 1 is something else.
  13. Bito - If you would care to put your E-mail address on here, I will contact you with more of what I know about Herreshoff. I do not want to go into personal details of other people on here, but would be willing to pass on info one on one. I cannot put my E-mail address on here so that you could contact me as I do not wish to be identified, and my E-mail address would do that. 241
  14. Bob's is good. I have been buying from them for years and never had a problem. Like Dynaflash, I started buying from them when Bob Sr. had a spcae at Macungie, PA in the early '80s
