  1. So you are not steaming it? That's pretty clever.
  2. If you have a Dyke's manual read the section on cone clutches and also read Harry's 3? part articles in the DBC magazine. There is a rebuilder selling cones lined completely wrong. Know what you want before giving yours to anyone.
  3. The wood floors are bare wood in my coupe because it had carpet that was held in with snaps from new, maybe first for DB? The actual sill plate is metal. The Fisher JOB number is cut into the wood floor. Matt, the brackets that support the B piller to the seat frame, are they cast iron? The triangle shaped pieces?
  4. My coupe has the wood painted too. This is shaping up to be another great looking project. I still think you should adopt a platypus for the shop. They don't look like any other animal in the universe that I know of.
  5. Matt, in the door jams is the wood exposed when finished? It is in my Fisher bodied coupe.
  6. Matt, just watched a documentary on a platypus. I think you should have one as a pet for the shop. Cute little devils.
  7. 30Dodge Panel, I'm still betting these pictures are time lapse photography. If you go back to the beginning pictures on this car the Shepard was a pup.
  8. I never researched who invented it, could have been Atwood Kent. Your July 1927 parts list was long after the parts were superseded for the 10000. If you look at the 1918 Master Parts Book it shows a condenser with two leads. They were not supplied very long as I don't think the system worked too well. I have the only ignition switch I have seen that only turns right. The vendor at Hershey was sure it was broken and I was sure I could make it work. It was cheap.
  9. The Model O number 10000 is very similar to 10004, but it reverses the polarity every time you start the car. The condenser has two leads instead of the normal one. The ignition switch only turns to the right 90 degrees at a time. Off, positive or negative ground, off, opposite ground. It is to keep the points from building up on one contact.
  10. Charlie, that is very interesting. What country is this car in? How is the magneto driven? What is the brand name of the mag?
  11. Read American Road by Pete Davies. It is a daily log of Lt. Dwight Eisenhower's military convoy in 1919 across the Lincoln Highway. It was to see how long it took to get troupes to the west coast in case of attack.
  12. SO, I guess I have to ask, 22touring. Are all states available? I know some '14's were redistributed in '64. It seems Chrysler bought back as many early cars as they could. I won't call what they did as restore them, maybe refurbish the cars then gave them to original dealers for the 50th anniversary. The '14 that was at Meadow Brook hall in 2014 was one of those. I have heard of another. There are two very early cars in Calif. I know of another that came from N.Y. in the 1960's. If you remember the Detroit Lubricator ad from two different issues of the DBC magazine when the new editor took over if told of a '14 that climbed Mt. Washington locked somehow in high gear. It also talked of high fuel mileage and had the serial number in the ad. That is the car that was in N.Y. It was shown at Hershey last week.
  13. Plasma torches are a fun tool. The guy that invented them was using his head. Looks like the body will be as good as new soon.
  14. No idea on either one. They are both for a touring car. 217 would have been shorter for a roadster.
  15. That's incredible, I could not find it. You are my hero.
  16. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE find the article for the first DB in Maine. I have not been able to. I know where that car is.
  17. '18 touring cars take 140. I have never found a catalog for Bair, the manuf.
  18. The 217L is for a DB roadster. But it sure LOOKS like 277L.
  19. Alsfarms, I THINK '22 still had the small round tail light with only a tail light bulb. I don't have a manual here for '22 to look if there's a picture. Ask AACA library. The big round light shown above I THINK is '23 when it had a brake light added. The oval Matt showed is for '24 and has brake light. As to how they were mounted for wire wheels I need to know too as I have a car with wires.
  20. On the next really humid day put some gas in a clear container and let it sit. The ethanol will absorb water and fall to the bottom of container. There will be two distinct colors and will not remix.
  21. Call Romar or Myers. I know they both have them.
