  1. If you do a search on eBay I think these show up with some regularity. I think a project with your grandson is a great idea.
  2. They look like it to me but I'll wait for Curt to confirm.
  3. The town cars were built by Ford, correct? I'm thinking more along the lines of a European body on a Model A chassis. My two examples of Rollston and LeBaron are probably bad because I don't think that every happened. This is what I was thinking of .
  4. I'm pretty sure that those mundane chassis with Classic bodies have been accepted before. In especially thinking of Packard 120s with European bodies. Perhaps I'm mistaken. Will have to dig out my roster and look.
  5. Not exactly true. If the Model A had a body from Rollston or LeBaron it would be accepted.
  6. The Packard guys need to chime in but I think it is definitely worth more than 5k.
  7. You didn't mention the body style. I would assume 4 door sedan. You need to post pictures but I would bet even with no info that it is worth at least 5k as a parts car.
  8. Eh, I don't think they look good on anything, except maybe a carnival wagon.
  9. Nice car. Here is one maybe not quite as nice with price: 1929 Pierce-Arrow | The Vault Classic Cars
  10. This is a very cool car. For a comparable remember the Willoughby 2 door from a few months ago which I believe went for low 20s in similar shape. I think this is a better looking car. I agree with the need for better pictures.
  11. I have a few different friends who are restorers. The consensus is if they could do it again they would be parts suppliers. Restorations are mathematically bad before they start. Being the guy doing the work is a no win proposition, even for the best ones.
  12. I looked at the prewar shot again and it looked like the spokes were originally painted. I went through my chrome spoke stage but I think if I was doing a car now I would go with whatever it had originally. The painted wheels had chrome weight covers and they made for a good look with black walls.
  13. The issue is (or was) that the only 17 inch radial available was the 750 Michelin which has something like a 33.5 inch outside diameter when you really need a 31-31.5 inch tire. Some of the Firestone whitewalls ( bias ply) were only 28 inches which made the wheels look goofy (especially with whitewalls). Correct tires (650 or 750 bias ply) are critical to making the car look right. I have an extreme dislike for whitewalls on any prewar car but especially on a MB of which very few were so equipped originally.
  14. Beautiful car. Although the 750 Michelin radials are too big for the fender opening. Would be great to see what it looked like prior to restoration.
  15. Curt, if you say there are none you know better than me. I was looking at the radiator shell and the front 30% of the front fenders. Also, the cowl vents .
  16. Neat Hot Rod. About 5% are Auburn bits. I will give him credit for a good ad with regard to the pictures. However the statement "not sure if it is an Auburn speedster prototype" is misleading at minimum and outrageous realistically.
  17. When we discovered our Stutz Schumacher Special, it took me 4 months to get the basic history. That was with an id plate on the car with the builders name, and many period photos that had already been published in CCCA newsletters so it was semi "famous". 7 years later people are still sending me period photographs or bits of information. The Internet was alive and well in 2005 and it was still a lot of work. The process of finding the history on this car could take some time.
  18. 4 doors are a hard sell but it is possible to tell without pictures.
  19. Go here: P15-D24.com and Pilot-house.com
  20. Dave, is the race car the original or a reproduction? The last coupe is my second favorite.
  21. The odometer may have miles racked up prior to its inclusion in the dash of the is car. Or maybe not.
  22. Wood or metal? Looks pretty cool. I would guess someone's project based on the dash. Any idea what the original wheels looked like?
