  1. "Wasn't there a Chrysler product with a record player in the dashboard? " We had one in a 60 Dodge Pioneer It was small took the place of the glove box. It only played 45 rpm singles. It was like a close and play. You opened the glove box put the record in then close the box and it played. But when you opened up both AFB that were located on the ends of the long ram intake you could hear it anyway.
  2. I have gotten several from http://www.restorationspecialties.com/ I usually see them at Hershey and just match up what I need with what they have. they now have an on-line catalog at http://www.restorationspecialties.com/2007%20catalog%20pdf/2007%20Catalog%20PDF.pdf
  3. A Rat Rod in one thing but I don't like the looks of the front lug nuts on that one. They look like a rat wreck waiting to happen.
  4. Word of advice. If you talk to gear company tell then it for an old clock or something. I found several would not touch it when I told them it went to a car. They said there insurance would not let the produce parts for Cars, Trains, Planes or Boats.
  5. depending on model 1953 convert condition #4 40- $7400 50- $8000 70- $8600
  6. Our captain only had one in his envelope, I sat beside him at the breakfast table. He said he had not signed up for the certification program if that made any difference.
  7. Pictures and the story of my "never again" car are at http://159.218.3.3/Amphicar_restore/index.html
  8. How many forms did you have? Our team only had one form so we filled it out as a group. I thought it was odd but that is what we had. Should we have had one for each judge?
  9. The Dial is for setting dwell angle on older GM products.
  10. I use Battery tenders. Using one all the time on my Motorcycles has doubled the battery life. (Even on gel cells) A BMW with ABS it very critical that the battery have at least 12 volts during cranking or the you get an ABS fault. I used to replace the battery every 2 years, the one in the bike now is 4 years old a still going. I also have a 6 volt Tender on my 55 Thunderbird and the original style battery has lasted 6 years and still going strong. I also have one in my Trailer to keep the 12 volt battery up and ready.(used for lights and winch) With the cost of Batteries, I think a Tender is money well spent. OOPS
  11. It is for setting Ignition points, I used to use one in the 60's-70's. The rings go over the distributor's cam lobes so you don't have to set the engine with the point follower on top of a lobe. The gauge has the needed point gap plus the thickness of the ring so you points are set correctly.
  12. Just a quick note, to say, I think the thank you note sent to judges was a nice gesture. I would like to say, a thank you to the vice president of class judging for all the work he does.
  13. I had to laugh when I read this, only because I didn't see the dog on the ground in the second picture.
  14. "If I am supposed to learn by asking, but I can't talk to a judge, how can I learn by asking?" My suggestion would have an AACA judge or two look at the car not at a show. Have them give you suggestions that they notices that might be a cause for a deduction. In our region we do that for other members especially before their first show. Little suggestions like: Remove the floor mats before judging. Wipe the grease off your zerks. Change your valve stem caps to steel. Lay your owners manual over that stain on the trunk mat. Remove the foam dice. If you have a couple of judges look at it they will tell what most judges will question or see.
  15. Looks like and old Fire truck 6 cylinder engine, many of them had duel ignitions. Some had a mag and a distributor.
  16. The place I have chrome done is a less expensive one as they go. A 59 Cadillac bumper estimate was $1200 plus $40 hour repair. I hope this helps.
  17. Several of the cars sold Friday at Hershey had reserves. Almost all except the Swigert collection had reserves, but they met them and sold. A few dropped their reserve and sold.
  18. Don't you think this issue is Herco. When I first started going (70's) you could camp in the trailer parking for FREE. Later $5 a night, then 10 then 20 then 30 then 40 then $60 and you have to pay for 5 days. So to park your camper is $300 so the $70 swapmeet spot looks a lot more attractive. When it got that high I started staying in a motel. I guess I could have gotten a swapmeet space but I agree with you that swap meet should be for swapping, not parking. But on the lighter side the $70 goes to the Hershey Region, the $300 goes to Herco.
  19. Can anybody read this? unfortunealy I had may small camera not my good high res camera.
  20. Don't know the owner but you may have seen my picture.
  21. Looking at the auction schedule "The preview will be Thursday, October 11th from 12pm - 7pm and Friday from 10am - 4pm." and the Preview is free. Were you there after or near 4:00 Friday?
  22. That is odd Ron I looked at my pictures they were taken Oct. 11th between 2:30 and 4:00PM and no one questions us. We were on the field Thursday morning till about 2:00 so we weren't dress up but no one approached us at all we went in the door right by the MB 300 bypassing the table between the doors. We registered when we got ready to leave about 4:00. Then went back about 7:00PM for the reception that required wristbands. We had cleaned up by the time we came back at 7:00. Same on Friday during the auction wristbands required. We also went in the the Blackhawk Thursday afternoon without any questions. The lady at the desk told us the Blackhawk wasn't open, but the doors weren't locked so we went in. The little gloved guys opened the car doors for us so they were showing the cars to someone. Maybe the don't let local boys in? (just kidding) Or the old, walk in like you own the place and nobody will ask you anything.
  23. I didn't see the Chevette but I did go look at the Gremlin at Hershey. http://159.218.3.3/10-12-2007%20Hershey/4/PICT3735.JPG
