  1. Bleach does not kill mold, unfortunately. Wet and Forget makes a lot of products that are supposed to be safe alternatives to the harsh stuff. https://www.wetandforget.com/
  2. This one is in Colorado for the bargain price of $7500. You could have the sedan and the coupe! https://denver.craigslist.org/cto/d/morrison-rolls-royce-68-2door-right/7666491404.html
  3. I have this one. Don't know how I lived without it. Fits into a spark plug hole, straight ahead and 90* cameras, long probe. Great tool.
  4. One of the Aston Martin DB5s used in the Goldfinger and Thunderball movies was stolen from an aircraft hanger in Florida in 1997. It was widely assumed that the owner, a mildly eccentric collector of movie memorabilia, had destroyed it in an insurance scam. A claim he denied since day one. Sometime in 2020 or 2021 the car was located in the Middle East, from all indications in good condition and with the current owner trying to convince everyone that he didn't know it was stolen. The investigator who tracked down the car had started negotiations to bring it back to Florida. And that's all the information I've found. Does anyone know anymore about the recovery of this car?
  5. The lifetime warranty is also a little misleading, as I recently discovered. After 35 years I totaled my Craftsman 3/8 ratchet. I took it to Ace Hardware and they explained that the warranty only applies to the same model. If the same model happens to be available, they will warranty it,but if the model has been updated you're out of luck. I took it to a different Ace store and they reluctantly traded it for a new 3/8 ratchet that frequently sticks and won't switch directions. It's in a drawer somewhere and I use my father-in-law's 60 year old Stanleys that I inherited.
  6. Way back my Dad drove a 50 Mercury, it had a similar problem. I ended up tracing it to the rear license plate light. Peculiar things can happen in wiring.
  7. How much does that engine weigh vs the straight 8? I want to say the straight 8 was about 1100#.

  9. Now I'll have to head back out there and find out for you.
  10. Wandering the Great American Junkyard is a wonderful way to spend the day. This is a very small section of a very good yard near my house. They don't crush the old ones so you can still find cars from the 20s and 30s. Center in this picture is their lone 57 Buick, but it yielded parts for the one that I'm working on. Recently we found 3 Chrysler LeBaron convertibles that supplied parts for our own LeBaron.
  11. Several of the new ones looked ok, but there was a poor old Citroen DS, looks like it could be a real project. My Dad had a pair of them long ago and I'd really like to find a nice driver. I'd look at the 2CVs if they were a little closer. There may have been an SM but I couldn't quite get an angle on it. That would be interesting to drag home. Edit: Pretty sure it's not an SM, silver seen at 12.36
  12. There's a few there I'd like to have, but I suspect they are pretty far gone at this point.

  15. I've never seen the E Type Camper Special before.
  16. If $1000 was the limit we'd all be kicking around on skateboards, but $1000 less is always better than $1000 more. But I don't think I want to mess with that one - the one with the caved in roof - there's better cars available that haven't been cut up. But it still would be good to save it.
  17. Not a lot of progress on the engine, but I'm not in a hurry. I'm trying to get it apart as gently as possible even though many parts will be replaced. Head is off and cylinders are soaking with diesel, an occasional tap on top of the pistons with a wooden stick and mallet. No movement at all thus far. I have not pulled the oil pan, in large part because my Buick 364 is occupying the engine stand and the Jaguar is just sitting on a cart. The question is, how suitable would this engine and transmission be for use in a MK IX? The car is pictured earlier in this thread. The MK IX would have come with the 3.8 litre, a little more horse power and about 25 ft pound more torque, and typically an automatic transmission. This engine was pulled from a 1958 MK I and is mated to the 4 speed overdrive transmission, which we still have. The objective is to save this engine. It has some family history and, so far, a sad ending. I realize I could buy a good engine and get the car running for less effort, and probably less money. But we had to scrap a beautiful car so the least we can do is give the engine another chance. What it goes into is less important than getting it running and back into service. Although if I found a MK I in the same condition as the above MK IX, I would jump on it without hesitation.
  18. *Edit, While I would accept if someone wanted to look at this car, the more I think about it, the more I don't think it's what I want. The idea of a two seat open car just sounds like too much fun. It's a 1958 MK IX, partially restored,. It appears to be easily examined, not sinking into the ground somewhere. I'd pay for your time, and maybe even lunch if the opportunity arises. I'm in Montana.
  19. You heard back? I contacted him via email, he wrote back saying "Please contact me." But did not provide a phone number. I emailed back requesting engine pictures and to set a time to look at it this weekend (I'll be 200 miles away this weekend). Never heard back after that. Whatever pictures would be interesting.
  20. On the Head: KE4018-8 On the Block, as you described, just required some brushing: 4018 KE3345-8 3345 was struck out and 4018 added above it.
  21. For $4800, this looks like a much better prospect https://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/d/tempe-1958-jaguar-mark-ix/7665391762.html
