As with some, not a lot of good photos to make a decision but at $2,000 or best offer, I am not sure you can go wrong. I did reach out to him and he said it runs fine, really does have 60,000 original miles and I followed that up by asking if it had bucket seats and console. 318 is a good motor that a guy can put a few performance mods to and keep it stock appearing. This was Mopars last swing at rear wheel drive full sizers on the same platform as the Imperial. Personally I like the Mirada and would/could own one especially if it was bucket seat console equipped with the sport steering wheel. I love those aluminum wheels, and it appears he has 4. This would also be a great starter car for a younger guy to get into the AACA. We can't all afford $40,000 cars. -

While we are all adding our 2 cents worth - I have owned 2 TR4's, one a very early 1962, and an IRS 1965. I always go in on facebook marketplace and look to see what is there. I am not looking at the restored ones, just projects. I "try" to like the TR6 but I just don't enough to buy one. It's not a collection unless a person buys a couple. In my case, in my opinion, the TR4 is the best looking, well balanced design wise. So, with me not considering a TR6 for the "second" car, if I buy one, I think about either an MGA, which is well styled in my opinion, or a TR3. The TR3 with the wide grin grille has never appealed to me. The early TR2, same issue. The early TR3 with the less wide grille, light recess, I like those, but they are quite rare and usually draw strong money. -

I met the seller many years ago. He is very pleasant but buyer beware. He used to advertise these cars in the paper days of Hemmings. The car I looked at he said he did not know much about it. Who is the buyer of this car at $27,000 or name your price? We are not motivated to part with our $25k or so. How about a Mopar collector with untold millions or 6 figures? No I doubt it. Those guys typically buy nice cars from just a few sources. They don’t drive to east of Iowa City to possibly buy a 57 Mopar. Rarity does not seem to matter in this case. Can that really be original paint? I personally do not think so. 1957 Mopar paint in still shiny pristine condition some 65 years later. -

Greenie, This seems like a solid restoration candidate but $17,500 may be optimistic. To restore this car may take $100,000. You are competing against nice #2 or #3 cars priced from $17K to $35,000. $35,000 is all the money for a #2 car I believe. Black leather interior is tough in a convertible, so I hope it has A/C. 85,000 miles - it's time for a rebuild of motor and transmission if not already done. GLWS. -

Well, just my opinion but any free marketplace like Facebook and the old CL allows a seller “to throw darts at a board” with fantastical pricing. They think “why not, it’s free”. In my recent Reatta search I found several way overpriced because they think Reattas are rare exotic cars. Facebook ads are essentially open ended and can run for years. The problem is Facebook algorithms can cause an older ad to essentially drop off and become irrelevant. I can't tell you how many times I have done a search for something and it shows it's been on my area facebook for 6 months, but it's the 1st time I have seen it. Or, I will save a find, then unsave after a couple of weeks of monitoring, then try to go find it again and it's gone. You think sold or removed, right. Nope, next search it might pop up again.

I had to get out too. I am more interested in the chase, like Wayne Carini. Once I got my cars, I sold them. In so doing, I am about $250,000 behind on my retirement and now I can't retire until I am 70. I own no old cars, but continue to look. Matt, that small town move is a good decision. Once my now 21 year old daughter left the house 3 years ago, my wife filed for divorce. We divorced amicably. We resided in Des Moines, Iowa, which as part of Polk County Iowa metro area is now 800,000 + and growing. Owing to my job in field service, I moved to Iowa Falls, Iowa, a town of 5,600 and wow did I love it. Like stepping back 45 years to a simpler, quieter time. On Sundays, you could almost hear a pin drop downtown. However, I got remarried to a teacher with 2 years left before early retirement and I moved back to the metro. It was either that or not get married. We like our house, but get hounded by the HOA, which governs many suburban neighborhoods in modern America. We now long to move back to Iowa Falls, but will likely have to settle for a small weekend home, like some have cabins. Still no collector cars. I live vicariously through those who do own them. My last 2 were purchased off a $10,000 low interest personal loan. This was the post BCA election time where the groups were differentiated, and our group lost, so I decided to drop out of the BCA and stay in the Cadillac LaSalle Club. So, instead of 2 Buicks, I bought 2 Cadillacs. A 1993 Allante convertible and a 1976 Coupe deVille. Coupe deVille was $5,600 and Allante was $4,000. Wife says divorce, so I had to sell quick. I sold the Allante for $3,300 but right before shipping it the check engine light came on and I put $800 into new spark plugs. So it sold for a net $2,500. The 76 CdV went to New York for $3,200. And ebay grabbed $400 for both sales. That's why I am out.

I decided to look on Facebook marketplace today for Reattas. I was fairly surprised to see a good variety available. Very, very few of us are doing restorations, so I did not bother much with those. As with the Black and Flame Red coupe I did post, some lower mileage Reattas are not necessarily maintained, which is sad. You seldom find trashed out 1991 Corvettes with 56,000 miles. I decided not to post most of what I found because it's just a curiosity, some are way over-priced, and it won't lead to new owners here. It always makes me raise an eyebrow to see a Reatta on facebook marketplace that is local that I never knew existed. Like other "barn finds" there are likely still several thousand Reattas in garages and yards. They will just keep trickling out over the next 10 years.

Conway Buick - the tag on the trunk - was a local Buick dealership many years ago. I believe Benson Buick purchased them. Not that any of that matters to those far away, but it does show that this 1991 Reatta was sold and likely stayed local to central Iowa. A couple of days ago I saw a Sapphire Blue Reatta in the student parking lot of my high school Carlisle (Iowa) HS. Reattas are still out there. -

How is it that a relatively low mileage 1991 Black and Flame Red coupe is so badly maintained in the interior? That door panel on the drivers side needs restoration! How hard is it to simply wipe down once in a while and keep it nice!? Even the driver seat looks scruffy. This is in Des Moines, Iowa and very close to me. Gross steering wheel, carpets a mess, all can be restored but should have been maintained. I have asked for the VIN to compare to what we know, but wheel center caps missing, headlamps up. -
Is there a club expert on the disc brakes? Every mention of them is that they are very difficult to repair, adjust etc.
