Is it an inherent problem with the tire design or poor manufacturing quality?
-
I was watching this video on Jay leno's Garage and noticed at the 19:51 mark that the front passenger tire is wobbling quite a bit. Am I seeing things, is this normal, or is there a problem? Or am I seeing a normal problem? š

1960 Pontiac Bonneville (Maude)
AURktman replied to AURktman's topic in The Unrestored Car Appreciation Forum
Thatās good to know, I had been advised to get different (proper) cables. Iām assuming red + and black - cables? The ones on there now (definitely not original) are swapped colors. -

Ok, Iām starting down the path of making her ready for HPOF. Iām looking at Ames for the correct battery cables and these are what come up. What in tarnation?? Iāve never seen cables like that. Iām sure Ames has them correct, but how do they tighten? https://secure.amesperf.com/qilan/Detail_Web?part_num=PM500&order_number_e=NTU5MTEzNQ%3D%3D &web_access=Y -

My mechanic lost my main bearing caps
AURktman replied to 51BuickWoody's topic in Our Cars & Restoration Projects
I picked up a small journal 327 Chevy that was missing its main caps, found a set on eBay, had my machine shop line bore it and it all worked perfectly. Those small journal blocks are tough to do a main cap swap on though. They need to search their shop and find your cap. Either they lost it by tossing it in the trash accidentally, lost it by ruining it somehow, or they lost in on someone elseās engine they are building. If none of those three are accurate then itās probably under one of the machines and theyāre just too lazy to bend over and look. -
Will do!

Hmmm, I havenāt been back to Tucson since 96, this might encourage some travel that way. I grew up in Sierra Vista just down the road to the southeast.

I used to live in Tucson (94-96), never knew it was there. How long as it been there?

That is incredible! I would say a SN that low would put it first year of manufacture. -

I'm in the aerospace field and the rise of AI / machine learning is moving faster than expected. It is certainly a technology disruption, not sure if it is a good one. Automobiles, washing machines, and even computers are there to help humans do things. In some ways, the development of AI is humans trying to be a godlike entity and I'm not sure we are prepared for what comes out of it. I havenāt, but there are quite a few YouTube videos of that being done. I have a pair of 48 59A flatheads that I need to remove the studs from and was planning on getting one when I start. I also have the stud puller as well.

A flameless but heated option is an induction set. You can heat, add penetrant, and repeat until it can come loose. Solary Magnetic Induction Heater Kit 1000W 110V For Automotive Flameless Heat Induction Heat 1KW Hand Tool https://a.co/d/1UGw3MK

Wayne, thanks for the info! Iāve had the same issue, had a bit of an incident years ago in a lab and a Formic Acid spill messing up my lungs. Theyāre damaged from that and I donāt need to damage them worse. What I may do is get the Caswell stripper kit and give it a shot and post the results. I have their flash copper kit and it works very well. I would get the nickel kit as well and test. I may do that in early March when I have a break.

I have thought about it, I will check on the cost. It may cost more in shipping than the actual work.
