  1. What have you heard that is bad about fluid drive ? It is just a fluid coupler between the standard trans and motor that allows you to come to a stop without needing to depress the clutch except to shift into a lower gear. On hills you dump the clutch and never have to worry about a stall or rolling back into the car behind you. In snow it is great because you limit breaking traction. In my 50 Chrysler, combined with the semi auto, it is the pinnacle of trans/ motor before fully automatics in mopars. A fluid drive unit is not the trans, it is not the motor, it is a coupler that never seems to fail. And the ones in my mopars are originals. Can't say that about starters or carbs, etc. Don't confuse it with a dynaflow which is great really (tested in WW2 in tank destroyers) which has it's own special needs via drips which in no way affects it's function. But the "dyna-slush" is one of those issues though at 12 mpg regardless I never notice much.
  2. Notice the underhood flex hoses are gone for the ventilation system ? This car has not been been driven much if at all with those vents wide open pulling in all that underhood heat.
  3. The twine on the plug wires and the zip ties through out, layers of dust, tells me a look deep on this one
  4. I don't know but my first impression has "headache" written all over it.
  5. Love these "blue collar" cars. Basic and rock solid transportation. I have a 53 all original plymouth that I use for work a couple times a week. These cars are so simple and dependable. But this price needs cut by 1/2 right now. I bought my 53 with same 3 on the tree and flat six for 1700 because they could not get it to stop overheating. 52k original miles. Nobody thought about buying a manual and pulling the water distribution tube.
  6. Many of these over heating issues in these flat sixes are cured by running straight evapo-rust as coolant for 4 months then yanking the water distribution tube and cleaning, then new evapo-rust for another 4-5 months. The tube gets narrow towards the rear which is wear the temp sender is. It is a very easy fix and not that expensive to replace it if it is rotted out. I bought a totally original 53 Plymouth nobody could get to stop overheating for 1700 bucks and now drive it to work 2 days a week.
  7. My grandfather bought a farm near there in the 50's. Beautiful area Boukes (spelling) Falls ? From the Malvese family
  8. I bet a couple days work on that interior with the right stuff would really bring it back
  9. What was the HP rating here? Like it. But all that black would be like riding a meteor here in TX half the year
  10. The normal cure for "I won't buy a manual to fix the brake light switch" by the shade tree inheritor
  11. Those plastic seat covers would a riot in a TX summer. I had a flashback to Moms new couches in 1972 and those 90 degree days without AC.
  12. I have an all original 53 Plymouth with same applied seat covers in red plaid vinyl. I have not attempted to remove them to see what is under it. Just a simple 53 Plymouth cranbrook 4 door so I doubt anything special
  13. I like the idea of a T but wonder the learning curve before you stop worrying about pushing the clutch to the floor and driving through the back of the garage.
  14. These years the mopars always looked angry. Just a pissed off car. Like if you took your hands off the wheel the thing would go off looking for squirrels and cats to run over on it's own
  15. If still on mag I bet all it needs is fresh oil, some hand cranking to make sure free, fresh gas, and it will fire right over
  16. If that heater control assembly is like a 63 dodge they are a total nightmare of broken plastic vac ports and stuck actuators. Cables were so much more reliable !
  17. Anyone watch the "Jay Leno's Garage" ep on the Lincoln convertibles? The amount of switches on the top ? I also am surprised it actually worked from what the top expert on the show described. A really good deal
  18. Thanks a lot. Here is what I need http://www.brewersperformance.com/proddetail.php?prod=SSK-E
