  4. Further proof that Mopar nomenclature can be confusing. I remember in the 90's they had a Caravan and a Carry Van. Two very different vehicles. Was DeSoto a Chrysler model in the end or was it separate until it went away?
  5. I don't know what to say about this ad. The car looks nice, and the price would be in the ball park if it was in good mechanical condition. I wonder how this person came to own it. https://reno.craigslist.org/cto/d/carson-city-1941-plymouth-desoto/7608583076.html I have a 1941 Plymouth Desoto for sale. All original engine and transmission in Desoto blue paint. Has all trim pieces still on the vehicle. Engine needs to be rebuilt due to no compression for cylinders 2,3, and 6 but it is the original straight 6. Asking 15,000 firm this is a rare car with suicide doors. Will make a great project for the right person. I will not accept a check for this car. (775) 434-9849
  6. Love those Houk wire wheels! Years ago Coker Tire had plans to reproduce them. This car seems to have a lot to offer!
  7. There's a 49 Cadillac on the "not Mine" forum that mentions hydraulic windows. I remember my sister had a '50 Buick Roadmaster Convertible that they said had them as well. Are they truly hydraulic? Seems like a very complicated way to make a window go up and down.
  8. Here's a neat short video on Jay Leno's Baker Electric. At the other end of the spectrum, my nephew the Tesla engineer, showed up at the Easter gathering with a Plaid engineering car. Zero to Sixty in a tick under 2 seconds. You have to brace your head against the headrest when it launches our you can actually be injured! Something young men love...me not so much.
  9. Years ago there there 2 large glass companies in the US: LOF (Libby Owens Ford) and PPG (originally Pittsburg Plate Glass). LOF has been bought out a few times and is now owned by NSG (Nippon Sheet Glass). PPG is still around but they don't make glass anymore. They discovered there was way more money in paint!
  10. I remember those days, and the sweet smell of laquer.
  11. Big price reduction! Now $19K https://kpr.craigslist.org/cto/d/port-angeles-1922-studebaker-big/7605151064.html Rebecca (509) 876-1737
  12. This does look very appealing but in my dreams I'd like a series 61 like the one that finished 10th at LeMans in 1950:
  13. Looks like a lot of fun for not much money! I like the color. https://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/d/west-sacramento-1928-pontiac-coupe-28/7608317587.html# Very good shape on the outside and outside the paint is chipping a little starts and runsCall 9162707838 for questions
  14. My time at the Mullen Museum wasn't virtual, nor is my scholarship, but I can only envy those fortunate enough to have first hand knowledge, and hope that they can be kind enough to share it.
  15. That's a very beautiful car, and I knew I'd seen it but couldn't remember where. Isn't it the type 54 in the Mullen Museum? It's by a pretty obscure coach builder, O. Uhlík in Prague.
  16. I see its got a modern carb, what other modifications does the engine have?
  17. Video of Palm springs races in 1955. My favorite part: A car catches fire and corner workers attempt to put it out by throwing dirt on it! Those were the days! https://www.thechicane.com/2010/03/22/more-unseen-racing-footage-palm-springs-1955/
  18. Looks like a nice car. The search engine on this site works pretty well if you are looking for something unusual like a 51 Crosley Hotshot, but its' useless on Model A's...too many hits. I don't remember this car (which my wife would tell you ..proves nothing).
  19. I think that's likely the fate, and it may have been "stolen to order".
  20. Right you are George! I think I missed something...where was there information about who the coach builder was?
  21. 22. That looks like a Bugatti to me. Not odd enough to be a Voisin. I'd sure want a data plate of a letter from a recognized Voisin expert before I parted with any portion of $10K.
