  1. Because the stamped steel engines were OHC and very light for the power they produced, they were very popular in small bore racing classes in the 50's.
  2. I have no personal experience but I've heard that these are actually reasonably "roomy" inside for a small car of this vintage.
  3. The top looks tired but correct, unlike others we've seen here. Price might or might not be be a little high but it's certainly "in the ball park". This is a rare model, and the "A" community loves a rare model!
  4. Many years ago, it was common to take cars across the border for cosmetic work. I had a friend who took his car there for upholstery. Unfortunately, after he picked it up he stopped in San Diego to eat, and while he was in the restaurant, some one broke into the car and cut a big hole in the back seat to remove drugs!
  5. People rightly complain about California, but I bought a car that the title had the wrong serial number (1951 so pre-VIN) and the year was off by 3. The only thing that matched the title was the 30 year old license plate. It did take an appointment at the CHP and two at the DMV, but it went pretty smoothly.
  6. Quite a project but it should be saved. https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/d/santa-ana-1949-chrysler-royal-woody/7596199480.html 1949 woodie royal Chrysler..needs alot of work as u can see but a great car when done ...come see ut ..very complete all three rows of seats ..hard to find ...has rust and damage.. runs maybe tires hold air 714 four nine 3 46two3 Carlos
  7. Neat factory built car. I have a 51 Simca Sport that at one time had the engine from this Siata:
  8. Here's an image from the excellent book The Birth of Chrysler Corporation by Carl Breer
  9. You can't expect too much at this price. Good story anyway! https://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/d/spokane-antique-490-chevrolet-touring/7587252503.html I have owned for 48 years, 6900 original miles. was sitting in a field for about 30 years, then stored in a barn. will run and drive, needs wood kit and rear fenders, and missing some parts. last licensed in 1927. 11. Looks like cheap fun! https://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/cto/d/el-cajon-1920-ford-model-touring/7595532264.html We are keeping our 1929 Model A but need to pass on our 1920 Model T Touring to a new owner. We have owned the Model T since 1999 but we need additional space in our garage. This is a 1920 Model T Touring with original engine with both crank and electric start. It is perfect for a restoration project as it is almost completely original. Car was originally from Arizona so there is almost no rust. It has always been stored in the garage. It is easy to start, runs great and a lot of fun to drive. A Ruckstell 2-speed rear-end, Rocky Mountain brakes, a new roof and high-capacity radiator have been added. Cover for the collapsed roof and original tools are included. Additional pictures and videos available on request. email: 46371ce551733765a6e86d44b1b2f1fc@sale.craigslist.org
  12. Can't say I like to paint scheme (even if it were good) but these sure have a lot of style. I read how Carl Breer, Chrysler's chief engineer became intrigued with aerodynamics in 1929 and with the help of the Wright brothers, built a wind tunnel. Just out of curiosity, they ran a test with a current body style both forward and backward and discovered the aerodynamic drag was 30% less in reverse! that lead to these designs. https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/d/santa-barbara-1935-chrysler-c1-airflow/7595198863.html This 1935 Chrysler C1 Airflow 8-cylinder 2-door coupe is from storage with many miles on it. Old and unrestored. The brake system, distributor, timing chain, and coil system have been rebuilt, gas tank and fuel system have been cleaned, radiator flushed, oil flushed and changed, chassis and wheels lubed; all of that was done about 6 years back then it was parked where you see it now. Tires are old. The upholstery and interior door panels were poor and thus given seat covers. Old paint is buffed and polished with thin spots showing through. The car was last out and about roughly 5 years ago when it was driven to a local meet down the street. This is an old barn find the owner got the engine going, did some basic work so it moved and stopped, then drove locally very short distances. Selling because the elderly owner no longer drives. email: 08584cb21cdf3d1985cb71a00532eafd@sale.craigslist.org
  13. Sounds like a good car! https://slo.craigslist.org/cto/d/paso-robles-1941-cadillac-convertible/7595054132.html This is an older restoration. I have owned the car for many years. Odometer says 15645,. actual mileage is unknown but the chassis show very little wear. I believe I am the third owner. This is a California car, no cancer, no bondo, straight. New wiring harness, new top, original motor (flathead V8), and drive train. Numbers match. This is a collector's car. I am making room for another project. No scams or trades, please. No dreamers, please. Most of the chrome has been completed. Oxblood interior. Red exterior. The original color was gun metal grey. Last group of cars before the war. $46,000.00 obo. call or text eight zero five 459 eighty twenty.
  14. Damage looks localized. If so you just need donor sheet metal. These are very interesting cars, being the most powerful front wheel drive ever made. I used to live in an are of heave snow. A friend had one of these and with chains on the front it was unstoppable.
  15. Possibly just the way the light strikes it but it looks like the trunk lid doesn't quite match. No matter, it is a really beautiful car.

  17. Looks like a nice car but $100K? Of course it is a "Movie Car", and the paint is original (only repainted once). https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/d/tustin-1941-cadillac-series-62/7594638598.html Beautiful example older lacquer paint very nice original chrome and pot metal (chrome shops can't duplicate this anymore) Main character car in New movie Oppenheimer due out in July 23. Full CLASSIC car recognized by CHVA very nice proper leather and wood toned das board. 18. Right! Goes along with "just needs minor carb work to run perfectly". "easy to fix" ....
  19. I remember one running at the vintage sports car races some years ago. Very impressive cars!
  20. Just wondering if anyone hear remembers David Leedy. He passed in 2009 but he was my CO at Ft. Riley in the mid 70's.
  21. My father tried to interest me in a '58 Mercedes 180D as a first car. I think he figured with 46HP I would be safe. Nice try Pop! I had a Renault diesel rental car in France a few years ago and it was excellent. The Diesel image burned into my mind is an '80's bustle back Seville laboring up Donner Summit with a plumb of black smoke behind.
  22. Might be an OK price by the pound, but it would never fit in my garage. I have a feeling we've discussed this car before but couldn't find it when I searched. Very long text in ad, Click to read. https://vermont.craigslist.org/cto/d/barton-1937-cadillac-series-75/7591751784.html It is rare to find a classic car from this era with original paint, but this example has some chips, and flaking. However, the car is still rust-free. The sheet metal everywhere is rust-free and 100% original with no welding. The glass shows some delamination after 85 years. The chrome is all 100 percent original, as the frame, floors, running boards, and dual metal spare tire covers. The back seat upholstery and headliner are all original, along with the original cigarette lighter.Restored this one of kind classic is potentially in the hundreds of thousands!Buy now as is $85,000 oboCall or text Blair at 802-745-9666
