  1. If Pennsylvania decided to band Gas Cars we'd go bankrupt here with out the 30 cent per gallon State Sales Tax. Highest Fuel Tax in the US and a large Oil Producing State. Although we do have a large segment on the population using Horse and Buggy...........The Amish!
  2. Need to enlarge the rear Fins so they stick upwards. 😏
  3. Always a well done event open to AACA and other cars that are not AACA. The location is north of Gettysburg at Latimore Valley Fair Grounds 314 Latimore Valley Rd. just off of Route 15. There is a history with this location having been a early Dirt Race Track, and is now the "Eastern Museum of Motor Racing which will be open to the public, free admission. To enter the Show Field it costs $10 IF PRE REGISTERED, $15 DAY OF THE SHOW and is not an AACA Judged event. It IS unrestricted to any model, year or type of car or truck. Gates open at 7AM Voting starts at 11AM Go on line to Gettysburg Region's web site for info and contacts, www.gettysburgregion.aaca.org or Face Book.
  4. Generally prefer JUDGING Verses Peoples Choice (Vote for your buddies). Also depends on Weather Forecasts, plus travel distance as I drive to all Shows and Meets using GPS set up to avoid traffic and Highways, Tolls, Dirt Roads, etc. Love to explore the back roads and generally like to curse at posted speeds between 45 to 50 MPH with no traffic. I will gladly do the posted speed limits when necessary.. I like to support the Benefit Shows where the entry fee's go to charities such as Wounded Veterans, or other good causes. Lastly, I like Car Club events where the Club has Class's specific to Model Type or year that my entry would fit in to. Not interested in Events for the Newer Cars, Rat Rods, Low Riders, etc. not that I have a problem with what they are doing, just not my cup of tea. Some of the other events such as a CRUSE IN, where you can come and go as you please, are a lot of fun WITH NO STRESS.
  5. I have old Craftsmen and Stanley tools which I haven't had a problem with. Actually use the Stanley mostly because it has a carry case that keeps things organized. I believe that Stanley now owns Craftsmen Tools, not sure if the Craftsmen Name was part of the deal?
  6. Our AMC Club had a meet Saturday at the Classic Auto Mall in Mogantown, Pa. The Mall use to be a big multi store shopping mall, all on one level and it went belly up apparently. So, after being empty a tenant moved in and occupied every inch of the Mall and filled it with Vintage and Collector Cars all of excellent quality. Must have guessing 300 cars in there. I was very impressed. Many of the cars are there on consignment and for sale. If you ever are in the area of Mogantown Pa. which isn't to far from Hershey this is a must go to place for Car Guys. Here's a youtube www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ws55UQ1Ris
  7. Just wondering if any one else is going to the Porsche Swap Meet at the Giant center parking lot at Hershey? It's a the biggest gathering of Porsche s and it's an Annual April Spring Meet run by Porsche Club of America. There will be over a thousand Porsche's. Weather permitting on Saturday and an Auto Cross on Sunday, I go every year with my '74 Porsche 914, to meet up with my 914 World friends.
  8. As for your AMX go online and you should find the correct belts, plus most other parts, at either American Parts Depot. Kennedy American, Inc., or Planet Houston AMX.
  9. I did a quick search on line and came up with this.......Delco Remy # 663-X. 1937-38 Pontiac 8
  10. Congratulations Kieser 31, now go celebrate and go get your self a new Keyboard
  11. Did you notice that Stan Myer who had the patent was Killed? Not an accident. Google it.
  12. Listening to the NEWS yesterday they had a report the the Battery on the Electric Cars in the cold sub Zero Temps reduces the charge by as much as 30% meaning the hours and distance is greatly reduced. Not sure what cold temps need to get to, to cause the reduced battery levels but would assume it varies. So, they are saying you need to keep the Electric Cars in a heated garage and be aware that when you go some where and park out side, (I.E. Airport parking lot vacation trip) you may not have enough power to make it home. Years ago I was at a local car show and there was an old Ford Pickup truck there that amazed me. The hood was up and there was a running V8 Engine in it. Then I noticed that on the fire wall there was a large glass Jug full of water with air bubbles rising in it. I talking to the owner I asked if he was boiling water for Tea. He said no he is making Hydrogen gas to run the engine! In conversation he said he had the plains to make this conversion to any gas engine making it one that did not need gas. The engine runs on Hydrogen easily extracted from Water ! He continued to explain it was against the law due to Lobbying by the Oil Companies and said to be too dangerous as an explosive fuel. He said he had a way to control the Hydrogen and keep it safe in an explosion proof enclosure. Imagine the reaction the caused to the Gas industry. So Cars can run on water.

  14. Born 1950 so my body is now '69 years old, But! my Mind and Sole did not age beyond 33 years of age. I appreciate, want, and love cars of all ages that need to be seen and driven? Not a big fan of the new age autonomous computer driven cars, or sensors.
  15. Harley Davidson is about to start marketing their new Electric Motor Cycle costing $30,000. If all the cars go electric I'm going to put a Disc Recording of a big block Chevy with Headers and no mufflers that I can listen to while driving. Robots and Computers will be the end of the Human Race. If these changes evolve a Third World Country with launch a Nuclear Arial Bomb attack over us and the IMF wave from the explosion will kill all the Electronics every where. I might have to replace the Pertronics in my Distributors and put the Points back in to give everybody a ride in my old cars.

  17. Modern Wax, such as Mothers and Meguiar's wax and polish, can create a similar shine as clear coat if applied correctly and often enough. Also, there is a problem with Clear Coat peeling after several years due to weathering and the Sun. My truck with a two stage paint job and a lot of waxing, no clear coat.
  18. Happy and safe NEW YEAR EVERYBODY...............NOW THE QUESTION IS, ""ARE ALL OUR CARS AND TRUCKS A YEAR OLDER TODAY?" 😉
  19. Yep, you all are confirming what I thought. The leak appears to be massive and unfix able. I would not attempt to remove the dash, saw it done on YouTube and it's a mess to do, plus this old body can't bend like a pretzel to get in down there. I seldom if ever need to have a heater in the car but wouldn't mind having heat available if needed. OT....I have a "74 Porsche 914 that like VW Beetles draws heat off the exhaust pipes using heat exchange shields to direct the heat off the exterior of the pipes up to a fan under the dash and front trunk area then vented to the cab. So simple. Thanks all for the comments, thought it was worth a shot......sigh! Doug
  20. In my "68 AMX the heater coil behind the Dash has a leak and I'm wondering if it is possible to prevent this with out removing it from the car. The process of replacing it would require removing the Dash Board near the Glove Box, which I believe could damage the dash creating an even worse situation. I'm thinking there might be a solution with less cause for concern. Although not as efficient as a working original heater coil, would it be possible to by pass the coil somehow, or run a smaller diameter tube or hose through the existing copper coil of the heater? Has anyone found a solution for fixing the heater box that leaks with out tearing the dash apart? I no longer open the heater valve on the block to the heater and I disconnected the Dash Controls to the valve. Fortunately I have no damage, or stains from the leak, I caught it immediately when it occurred and have lived with out heat for a couple years now.
  21. That's for sure, Holidays are expensive. Come April would be when people who are getting a nice Income Tax Return might want to hit the car market and have time to prep the car for Show Time that starts getting active. Hopefully 2019 will be good weather. This year it was the wettest year on record and lots of Shows ended up getting cancelled or the turn outs were small .
  22. Find out what the cost would be for the new top installed and offer it both ways, as is, or cost with new top installed, and see if you can enter into conversation with interested buyers.
  23. Can you still park on the sand down there? East Coast Beaches' the sand isn't firm enough. When I was in the Navy I drove my '68 Javelin out on the sandy beach in Pensacola Fla. and was amazed that I had no problem with traction.
