  1. When I worked as an Outside Electrical Sales Engineer the company gave their Sales People Company Cars. You could pick the options and they paid for all expenses including Gas, Tires, Etc. I was even able to get them to make it a four door with front Bucket seats. You drove the cars for four years and then got a new one....and if you liked the car you could buy the one you were driving if you wanted it. We did buy them for the Family as a second. The cost was what a Dealer would pay, plus you knew what you were getting.
  2. Every car on the CARMAX Sales LOTS Nationally are used cars that they get from the Auction Lots, and every car Carmax takes as a trade in goes directly to the Auction Lots to resell to Dealers.
  3. Here in Pennsylvania we have a 30 cent per gallon State Gas Tax. It would be a big hit on our tax revenue here, not to mention the Gasoline Companies. My Brother in Law has a all electric car and he mentioned that his battery went dead and had to be replaced. I asked him what that cost and he said $2,000.
  4. Thanks, now I'll have to pull off the shelf in the basement the box of Models I built as a kid and later as a grown up. When I built them in the early days as a preteen they were expensive $2.00, for Revels. Spent many hours building and sometimes customizing some. Now I have 1/18th ERTI Scale Models of the cars in my Garage and ones I owned in the past. The details are very exact.
  5. I thought this was going to happen and prayed on it to. This will be our 3rd Meet there and it is a great location. Gettysburg at the Wyndam Hotel Compound is the best place to access and make arrangements. Better then Hershey for the show. Huge Paved Parking lots and lots of room. AS ALWAYS EXCELLENT WORK GUYS YOU ROCK!
  6. If the number of entries to the Hershey Fall Meet could be reduced to make it easier to proceed with Hershey, my thought is we had approximately 500 cars at the Gettysburg Grand National just weeks ago, all of which were judged. For those that did not show at Gettysburg allowed them to enter the Hershey Meet and those of us, including myself who was at Gettysburg, stay home to allow Hershey to have a smaller Meet for them. Gettysburg Judging scores might be reused for any additional awards that could have been made if at the Hershey meet. I don't expect this to fly but it makes sense if it opens the door for a smaller Hershey Meet for those that are looking forward to showing. I don't know all the details as to how this would work but worth mentioning.
  7. Not sure if this fits into what you are looking for but there are many You Tube Video's of our AACA shows. I along with others Video them. Some you can see in our Forums "Pictures and Video" section in here?
  8. The past Meets had the cars parked on grass and facing paths for walking and riding in handy cap vehicles so his scooter should not be a problem if it is allowed according to the officials. I remember seeing gulf carts that the officials used.
  9. I'm hoping that the Hershey Meet will use a similar format as you used at the Grand National Gettysburg Meet? It really worked great for the Judging and Awards presentations, IMO. I Really liked it and enjoyed the procedure to provide the results at the close of the Meet. Under standing that Hershey will be double the size as the Grand National which had about 500 entries and Hershey could reach 1000. Great job and looking forward to Hershey, thanks in advance to all involved. It was a great day at Gettysburg. Hershey should also be as enjoyable. We need these Shows to lift our Spirits during this terrible year of 2020. It will be something good that can be remembered.
  10. My First Bike was a Bridge Stone 90 back in 1965 when I was 15. Then I bought a bigger Bridge Stone 175 twin. They were Rotary Valve two strokes and very fast and beautiful machines. It also had a Rotary Gear shift pattern. The other Japanese Manufacturers stopped Bridge Stone from continuing manufacture of these bikes as Bridge Stone's main business was selling tires to the other Japanese Manufacturers.
  11. 2019 Porsche all ready has it developed and ready. It is a speed Demon. It's called the TRYCAN $185,000.
  12. Not my Bikes. These were ones in my You Tube video taken at the AACA GRAND NATIONAL 2016 WILLIAMSPORT PA. The Bikes on the video starts around 11 minutes from the beginning. If you can pull up the Video I walked the entire show and shot most of, if not all of the Vehicles and Bikes Showing. Posted the show pictures for TAKerry to see. I had 2 Honda CB450's and sold them about 5 years ago. I'm no spring chicken. I replaced them with a '74 Porsche 914 which fills the void in the Garage nicely. Thanks Mark for the AMX compliment, it got it's Senior Grand National Award at Gettysburg Saturday.
  13. I'm not sure how the Bikes are Judges but most likely they are Judged like the cars which are Concourse atmosphere with a point system based on 400 points for Show Room Stock condition, Judges have a deduction sheet for none standard stock components or modifications. Car or Bike has to be an Antique 25yrs old and older to enter. Good luck hope that helps. Generally there are at most 20 Bikes showing up.
  14. Not something that I think the AACA Club would support if New Cars are included. AACA policy would strictly reject cars less the 25 years old be included in AACA Events. I think you would be better off starting and organizing a new Club, not affiliated with AACA. One that would be run more like a Curse In for people with newer cars, or Modified Cars of any year and model. Suggest that you see if there is an interest with other local car clubs to join together to make it happen. Good luck in you quest, make it happen.
  15. Steve, I think that next week, after this show is over, people will come away being amazed at the magnitude of afford the Club Members and Staff running the Meet accomplished to pulled it off. This Grand National, with the tremendous problems that needed to be work out, I doubt that we can fully appreciate what it must have taken to get it done. I'll be the first to thank all in advance, you guys and ladies involved in achieving this move, are simply amazing!
  16. My '69 C10 SWB Chevy Pickup truck was a 6 cylinder with three on the tree originally. I put in a 350 V8 to replace the 6 cylinder and a Muncie M20 4 speed that is a lot of fun to drive. Love driving a manual shift. I also have an original 5 speed manual transmission in my little '74 Porsche 914 that took a some time to get the feel for where the gates where, but it makes for a great ride.
  17. No to be negative, and with great respect knowing the AACA Board is working hard every day to make things happen, but the Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Wolf has the final word in allowing all large events such as ours to be allowed. Currently many of the Counties in Pa are going Green, also nationally around the country there are new spikes in new Corona 19 figures going upwards AGAIN. Bottom line is hold on to our hopes we're are not going back into a second wave shut down that will keep us from being able to return to a normal life, it's too early to tell, IMO.
  18. I bought a four year old 2014 Chevy Equinox from Carmax that had only 14,000 miles on it. It was like new at half the cost of a brand new one. Found out that the way CARMAX works is they get used vehicles from the larger Auto Auctions and when you trade a car in at Carmax an Appraiser from the auction comes to Carmax to buy it from Carmax and auctions it off. The trade in cars go to auction. So the CARMAX cars are shipped from the Auction lot for Carmax to sell and your traded in goes to auction. Many of the Corporate Companies that give their sales employees new rental cars to drive and rotate them every 4 years. The employees get new model cars every four years. The company cars are well maintained and low mileage. This gives you great value to purchase this way and CARMAX will not negotiate pricing. We love are Chevy Equinox.
  19. Best bet might be to check with some of the American Motor Parts Dealers on line. Try Kennedy American Motors, Inc., America Parts Depot or Planet Houston AMX. Use Goggle for contact info. or call them and check with them what works. My '68 AMX does not have power Breaks and all the other AMC Cars I have owned, all with Drum Brakes, stopped easily so I never felt the need for Power Brakes.
  20. Served in the Navy on the USS Oriskany Air Craft Carrier, in the Golf of Tonkin 1969 -1972. Bought my first Old car about 18 years ago, a '68 AMC AMX, also inherited my Dad's '69 C10 Chevy Pick Up Truck and bought a '74 Porsche 12 years ago. I was a gear head since I was 13 and still am at '70. Vietnam didn't make me an Old Car Guy it just delayed it.
  21. Hi Joe, I just came across your post and hope you can find what you are looking for, these are great cars. Less then 7,000 made in '68 which was the first year of a 3 year production run. So, here is a You Tube I made of my '68 AMX taken before leaving for the 2016 AACA Grand National in Williams Port Pa. In the VIDEO I show all the things you want to look at and my AMX received the Grand National Award at the show. If you have any questions that I can answer let me know. You can email me at struckn@AOL.com. Here's the You Tube link.
  22. Happy back at ya....................but wishing for Snow. Looks like Spring is going to be real early 2020 here in South Central Pa. Lots of rainy days lately.
  23. Bimetallics are two metals one over another causing heat to bend them to a point where it causes another device open or close if I recall. One other thought with your set, up does it have a heat riser tube coming off the exhaust manifold to the carb?
  24. Not sure but I think that on my'68 AMX with a four barrel Carter the Spring Plastic Housing can be rotated to dial in the sweet spot to make the choke work at some point. Also, most chokes will go to the choke position it you press the Gas peddle down and then release it before cranking the engine. Hope this helps.
