  1. Thanks for everyone's input. I will be building the seat frames out of Ash.
  2. A piece I would love to have in my collection, the art - not the actual vehicle, of course. The door windows and window above aren't too complimentary of the overall design, though.
  3. What is the preferred wood you use to build seat frames and bolsters? When replacing structural wood, I have used primarily Ash. It tends to be a strong, sturdy wood and wonder if it would be the choice for seat frames or would you lean towards a different species? I'm working on a 30s Lincoln, but your experience on any make from the 30s would be helpful. The original seat frame is gone and I've been fortunate enough to have a loaner frame from another car to use as a template. The loaner frame was built in the last 25 years and is a mixture of oak and pine, so no help there.
  4. Here near Houston we have Cut and Shoot, and Kickapoo. The latter being of Native American reference
  5. Found out my grandfather was born in Bumpass.....I thought it was a joke.
  6. Took millions of years to form inside the earth, expires 1 year after bottling. Everybody knows that.
  7. This has been on my wall for 15 years. Sometimes i look at it and enjoy the old testimonials. Most interesting to me is the size, 18x24 and the NRA symbol.
  8. There are plenty of other places to show a modified car. While all car clubs benefit from more youth, "considering a new class" isn't the way to go here. Several of my cars are highly modified and are not "worthy" of having a spot on the AACA show field, and I'm ok with that. It would be nice if there was a "day 2" class, but oh well, I still participate when and where I can. Wanting a new class so you can get a better parking spot................ha
  9. Texas Tour is next May, I think. Each year it's hosted by a different club in the state, this year was in Harlingen. Next year is somewhere between Houston and San Antonio. 2025 our club is penciled in to host a national meet.
  10. Those are borderline scrap pieces. I would give you 5 bucks and a free coffee voucher, only if you delivered them. Seriously though, those are NICE!
  11. Found these in the bottom of a box with parts for another car. Do these look familiar?
  12. Going through a box that was supposed to contain needed badges, I found these handles at the bottom. Possibilities are Pierce, Packard, Buick, Cadillac, or Lincoln. I'm leaning towards Buick. Y'all have any ideas?
  13. Ive been told corn starch or baby powder. I've never had the courage to try after all the time I put into a panel to get to that point.
  14. Hope this sale goes well. I will not be able to attend, but I am interested in what type of literature this is. Is there any way, after Hershey, that one could contact headquarters to inquire about purchasing items, or does it go back into storage for the next on-site sale?
  15. In the newer sealers (20 years old now), DP90 is a black sealer.
  16. Very well stated. The tactics the outside company are using do appear to be quite misleading. Truthfully, I don't read the club newsletters as quickly as some and did not know that the club had decided to use this as a fund-raiser. If there is more than a handful out there like me, I imagine the poor soul answering the phone at HQ or the outside company will get an earful. Think of all those old farts that are members but don't use the computer!
  17. Man...... Whoever is in charge of this project is persistent. I've received multiple emails and even a mailer asking for my story. My life is as exciting as watching mud dry to dirt. Kudos to the tenacity, it looks like they worked for a car warranty call center previously. Need to back it off some.
  18. Contact Paul Rickman at 1933buickregistry.com He has used, new and recast parts.
  19. To all who are participating in this post, thanks. These are the "debates" that are had amongst people at my event. Very informative and it just adds more conversation to "bench racing" I have a family member that, very recently, became interested in the historics of the automobile. I asked her what were the three P's of early automotive excellence and after a few moments thought she answered, "Pierce, Packard, Peerless." I've taught her well......... A few more examples of my trivia questions "Christine" is what year, make and model of car? What is the umbrella name for Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler? John Deloreon designed the Deloreon of the 80's. What popular 60's car was he associated with?
  20. I host a gathering for car folks and have started writing random trivia questions on the disposable table covers. I don't get too technical as I want people to enjoy themselves arguing and thinking about the possible answers. At the last gathering, several people were consumed with roaming from table to table looking for the trivia and talking with the people at each table. Examples What's the firing order of a small block chevy? The nailhead engine is typically attributed to which car brand? Don Knotts was the face of what truck advertising in the 60s? What type of car did Colombo drive? What are the 3 P's of early automotive excellence? In Smokey and the Bandit, what vehicle did Snowman drive? and such..... As I said, nothing too technical. Included with the trivia, I post copies of cars for sale ads from the 60s and 70s. One that caught my eye was a Prewar Rolls for 300.00. Several Stutz and Packard offerings were just as interesting. With that said, what are some other trivia questions you can think of that could be added?
  21. There are several companies that offer vulcanizing services for running boards. What vehicle are you working on?
  22. I commented on the main page and wanted to follow up here. Congratulations. We all know the 1st ride is the most stressful.
