  1. As I have said on occasion before For some wealthy people a high end classic car has the same purpose as expensive art, boats, or islands. Just a way to one up their other wealthy friends. Present company excepted of course.
  2. “Virtually rust free, no cancer”. Well, which is it? It either has rust or it doesn’t. Can’t be both.
  3. If you scroll down a bit further in the forums you will see one dedicated to cars like yours. Someone there might have run into your problem though admittedly it seems more of a generic than specific issue. But maybe a common problem with TCs.
  4. I can safely say rich people have not ruined my hobby. I don’t have high end cars( Plymouth’s 1952 and 1980) that I bought for what have turned out to be modest prices( ok, I did overpay for my 52 In retrospect but it has worked out well after I found out all the work previously done in it).I have faint hopes that inflation will cause the values to stay somewhere near my investment. Currently about $5000-$6000 per car. I like driving them and as long as they are presentable to me( I come from that era where driving shabby looking junk is somewhat embarrassing) I am happy. I did give up on the idea of getting the interior on the 52 redone. For me the cost of professional help would probably be the value if the car. And the 1980 car is a survivor that I bought with 8400 miles on it in 2007. Once again it seems you can get out of old cars what you want depending on you.
  5. This looks very much like one a member of my former POC region was trying to sell about 10 years ago for $24,000. I don’t know if he sold it for that or anywhere near as I had left not long before. Can’t comment on price until the report on my BS price point calculator gets back.
  6. After responding to alsuncle about the asking price of the 55 Chrysler I now see this on(although it is a convertible) asking almost $60,000. I can’t help but wonder is my BS price point detector on the fritz? A beautiful car for sure but $57,800. Really?
  7. I like it too. I am a Mopar fan but can honestly say I have never seen a similar car with such a high asking price. Maybe others here know better but my eyes still water when I look at the ad. We all know Mopars of that era are the low price spread.
  8. I thought pretty neat until I saw the hop up on the engine. You never know how those things are done. I would need reciepts and who did the work.
  9. I imagine my school bus experience would help in getting used to driving one but it would have to be in a lot better condition.
  10. If I wanted a big fine pickup I would take this at $35,000 over any modern one at 80,000(or more)
  11. The 1952 Plymouth Cranbrook that I still own today. In early 2002. I learned that even though the rest of the vehicle passed the magnet and solidity test, it never behooves you to forget the bottom of the frame. A $900 repair in 2003. Thanks to a local restoration company(McCabe Restorations) I did not have to pay to have the body lifted off the frame. Folks who knew the difference between a driver and a high end show car. I think they are still in operation today.
  12. Every time I see a picture of one of these mid 70’s full sized cars I remember how massive they are. Talk about a highway cruiser.
  13. This could be great for someone interested in a not at every car show vehicle. I know nothing about Kaisers except what the are but at that price a running presentable car is a good deal. I am sure the Kaiser specialists will have input about potential problems but still looks nice to me.
  14. You might want to list this in the not mine cars for sale section. And post pictures and as much information as you can. Your ad at the relatively high price requested for that year Mopar will need a lot of backup fo draw the interest of a buyer.
  15. What is it about Wisconsin that it seems to have an almost endless supply of old cars in various configurations and conditions? I would love to have this but I can only quake in fear of the costs to make it presentable and drivable. And I am not as fussy as many. I can’t remember when I last saw either a Valiant or Lancer wagon of that era. So body parts if needed would be a difficult search. And just for sh*ts and grins, no title.
