  1. Finally, another period photo of the elusive 1930-'32 Hupmobile Custom Eight Model U or U-237! Note this sedan nearest on the right, the slanted windshield and rear-hinged doors. Their other models including the Series H that shared the powertrain had vertical windshields and front-hinged front doors. The other dark sedan may be a Series U as well though the door handles and windshield are too indistinct to be sure.
  2. 1957 Mercury Monterey - $3000 - Hudson valley, New York - Not Mine https://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/cto/d/vails-gate-1957-mercury/7145770449.html I put 10,000 in it. I’m taking a loss selling for $3000 firm. It was one of my drivers, it’s inspected and insured at the moment but it needs a new ignition. It’s a beautiful car, if interested call me. This is my number. My names Micky, call (845) 7- sixty-four- 36-eleven. No text or emails, they will be ignored. I have no personal interest or stake in the eventual sale of this 1957 Mercury Monterey sedan.
  3. The only way to get a response is to be persistent, list the name of the car for sale, indicate your general location and current interest, in an effort to get around the spam dumpster where most goes. A second, third or fourth request for a response should note that in the email subject line, spammers won't bother with more than one or two tries.
  4. Thanks John_S. Please note I write out the contact phone number with a combination of words and numbers so scammer bot computers can't glean phone numbers from the posting on here. Those robot computer programs are always scanning websites for phone numbers to use for robo-calls, but can't understand the combination of numbers and words. Too bad we have to do this to outsmart those creeps. Those CL postings that only have an email contact with a link to copy and paste have to be responded to more than once to get the seller to take the response seriously, again because of the many scammers misusing the system.

Of Note: The 1954 Star Chiefs were the first of the extended deck Pontiacs after Harley Earl applied the concept first to the Cadillac 60 Specials, Coupe de Villes and 62 Convertibles, second to the Oldsmobile 98 and then these luxurious top-line Pontiacs. Buick eventually joined the program with the 1958 Limited followed by the 1959 Electra 225.

  7. Yes, Incorrect English usage is irritating and too common in advertisements. I simply copy what they post, rather than correct what they write to "needs to be restored" or "needs restoration". This 1926 Ajax is an AACA HPOF Class prospect for the person who appreciates originality.
  8. Mike You'll get a better response to each car with an individual advertisement for each. its worth the trouble to do so, even if it takes a while to develop the pictures and information. These are premium cars.

  11. $1.00 is simply a placeholder people use to satisfy Craigslist requirement, its meaningless.
  12. Sometimes you have to send two or three email responses to get the seller to take you seriously. That's because he's no doubt received multiple scam responses already and deleted those.
  13. Absolutely! Expensive, better-than-factory restorations of rare cars have a niche, but for ordinary mortals, an affordable old car that can be made dependable and presentable will return far more enjoyable experiences and enduring friendships, the real benefit. There is a pantheon of automotive history to select from, choose what appeals to you and can afford, don't worry if anyone else likes or think its a smart choice, its about pleasing yourself. Then, drive the car, include those who show interest even casual. Introduce younger people so cars of whatever your period won't seem so abstract or scary, you might create another old car enthusiast in the process. But, yes, dive in, there is plenty of support here.
  14. A lot of Ford Model T's, including a surprising number of Model T closed cars. The touring facing the camera has the square-framed headlights of '20's Studebakers.
  15. 16. 1935 Pontiac Six Sedan - $6500 - Hansville, WA https://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/cto/d/hansville-1935-pontiac/7143231688.html 1935 Pontiac sedan barn find. An art deco streamline masterpiece from the original owners estate. The car is in remarkable condition and is very original , needing brakes and some tinkering to get running. The electrical is good and the motor turns over but will not start. The body shows wear and tear patina, some trunk rust and a bit of loose wood at the door hinges but overall the car is solid. This beauty would make a very nice and extremely rare restoration or as several pictures show, a cool rod project. This was the only year that General Motors used suicide front doors and also shares it's basic body with Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and LaSalle. Sold with bill of sale. Open to trades. Contact: respond by copy and paste into email: 6a87c24631ee3d6fab91f7d4493ab7ba@sale.craigslist.org I have not personal interest or stake in the eventual sale of this 1935 Pontiac Six Sedan
  17. Amen! Nothing sadder than a mid-'50's to '60's car that had a great color selections of wild period colors, such as turquoise, yellow, pink, rose-beige, iris magenta, light pistachio green, lavender, orange, bronze, etc, and the car is painted black, gray, white, resale red, tan or somber, bland color such as we have now. Wasted visual potential and just plain boring.
  18. His disciples should have bought him a White truck chassis, sent that to Bohmann & Schwartz! They could have chromed the radiator shell and put white-walls on it, That rear view is as ungainly and ghastly as all the rest!
  19. I didn't know there were any flattering views of that unfortunate Duesenberg... I recall a straight on front view which reveals how the body widens from the cowl like buses in the era did. The tall overall height, cut-off sausage rear body, heavily rounded window openings and 'humpback whale' side-mount covers all told make this the hands-down worst body any Duesenberg was saddled with. Wouldn't you know it, many of the gorgeous one-off custom bodies have been lost, but this atrocity survives.
