  1. Sad truth is he should part it out, sell the items that are unique to the '58 Packard sedan, hardtop and station wagon such as the front clip, instrument panel, interior trim, fins, side trim, taillights. Only '58 Packard Hawk came standard with the supercharger. Not unlikely this car has an extremely rusty frame which is beyond a feasible restoration.
  2. That poor old chestnut has been for sale on and off for most of two decades, it just gets more weathered every time the advertisement appears. Pretty much a parts car.
  3. We analyzed the origins of this 1942 Clipper convertible creation on this PackardInfo topic: http://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=22711&forum=16&post_id=219109#forumpost219109
  4. 1966 Checker Marathon - $2500 - Faulkner, MD https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/cto/d/faulkner-1966-checker-marathon/7142600659.html 1966 Checker Marathon, 250 6 cylinder, column shift manual transmission, rock solid Arizona car. Has the rare rear jump seats and was being redone as a vintage taxi but WAS NOT originally a taxi. It was a private car. Has been stored in my garage for the last 5 years with the intention of restoring it to rent for movies (GOOD money, like $350/day and up). Alas, I have far too many projects, so I'm thinning the herd. Car isn't shiny, it's just wet from a good scrub to remove 5 years worth of dust (see the last picture from earlier this evening). Many new in box parts and spares, including a windshield and taxi conversion bits. Fix it up as a driver, or slap the taxi graphics on and draw people into your business with a unique vintage Checker out front. Replacement wiring harness needs installation, so dash is dropped and steering shaft is disconnected. I'm told it ran before that, but I HAVE NOT tried to start it. Clear title. Easy resto or go custom. $2500 OBO. Contact: copy and paste into your email: 481f08479f143caea2a29d7a0aff4656@sale.craigslist.org I have no personal interest or stake in the eventual sale of this 1966 Checker Marathon.
  5. This topic has been and continues to be a feast for those of us who can't get enough of the rarities and obscurities that comprise so much of automotive history. Thanks to all who have so generously contributed, know that it is greatly appreciated.
  6. Good for them, they even got the convertible top rear window correct! The wrap-around plastic window was correct for the 1957-'60 model years, frequently disappeared when the top was replaced with an aftermarket top.

  8. Here's a better look at that Dodge Four town car: Wonder if these were a Willoughby series custom body?
  9. Mega-bucks for sure, ownership contains it own punishment, he has to look at it...
  10. True, More likely in the eye of the person writing the checks...
  11. 1940 Alfa-Romeo 2500 by De Mola of Belgium! I knew I'd seen this hideous beast before!
  12. If not Saoutchik, possibly Figoni & Falaschi. Who else did over-the-top, lavishly flamboyant as prefectly as these custom houses?

  15. 1963 Dodge 880 - $3000 - Mahopac, NY - Not Mine https://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/cto/d/mahopac-1963-dodge-880/7139108692.html 1963 Dodge 880. I am the third owner. The person I bought it from got it from his Aunt who was the first owner. He believes everything was mostly original and that the numbers matched. I have had it for 5 years and it runs fine. 1) push button 727 transmission; 2) Mopar 383 sought after engine; 3) original Contact: copy and paste into your email: d5e7cb98089d39109cf549d461c2d065@sale.craigslist.org I have no personal interest or stake in the eventual sale of this 1963 Dodge 880 sedan. Note: The 1962-1964 Dodge 880 and Custom 880 are very obscure models largely unknown outside of Mopar circles. These are a real 'what is it?' at car shows and cruise nights. Base engine for this series was the 361, the 383 optional. Think of the 1962-'64 Dodge 880 and Custom 880 as the ghost of DeSotos incarnate.
  16. Yes, It seems quite reasonably priced for an entry-level collector car. The proviso is rust damage, which 1957-'58 Mercurys suffered from rather badly, so interested persons should inspect it over carefully first to determine what condition those lower body areas are in.
  17. Here is the best rendition of the Peerless newspaper announcement I could achieve:
  18. I recall reading that some state DMV laws stated that both taillights were to be visible at all times from whatever angle. As seen on the station wagon, in a 3/4 view, only one light was visible because of the styling and side-mounted location. The retrofit taillights were supplied to remedy this situation.
  19. Finally, another period photo of the elusive 1930-'32 Hupmobile Custom Eight Model U or U-237! Note this sedan nearest on the right, the slanted windshield and rear-hinged doors. Their other models including the Series H that shared the powertrain had vertical windshields and front-hinged front doors. The other dark sedan may be a Series U as well though the door handles and windshield are too indistinct to be sure.
  20. 1957 Mercury Monterey - $3000 - Hudson valley, New York - Not Mine https://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/cto/d/vails-gate-1957-mercury/7145770449.html I put 10,000 in it. I’m taking a loss selling for $3000 firm. It was one of my drivers, it’s inspected and insured at the moment but it needs a new ignition. It’s a beautiful car, if interested call me. This is my number. My names Micky, call (845) 7- sixty-four- 36-eleven. No text or emails, they will be ignored. I have no personal interest or stake in the eventual sale of this 1957 Mercury Monterey sedan.
  21. The only way to get a response is to be persistent, list the name of the car for sale, indicate your general location and current interest, in an effort to get around the spam dumpster where most goes. A second, third or fourth request for a response should note that in the email subject line, spammers won't bother with more than one or two tries.
  22. Thanks John_S. Please note I write out the contact phone number with a combination of words and numbers so scammer bot computers can't glean phone numbers from the posting on here. Those robot computer programs are always scanning websites for phone numbers to use for robo-calls, but can't understand the combination of numbers and words. Too bad we have to do this to outsmart those creeps. Those CL postings that only have an email contact with a link to copy and paste have to be responded to more than once to get the seller to take the response seriously, again because of the many scammers misusing the system.
