  1. Thanks Walt, I would have never determined it was a Birch. I had to look in the Standard Catalog about them, certainly an unusual way to manufacture and promote the make, maybe more for the benefit of Birch Motor College. The Birch does look like the Commonwealth, maybe both being in the Chicago area, they both sourced their radiators from the same supplier. The era of the assembled car was analogous to the 'wild west' of auto-making.
  2. The colors presented in catalogues of the period might well have been available on special order but were rarely considered standard factory color selections. At times, these bold colors were simply the flites of fancy by the advertising artist. For the extreme extroverted, such colors were just the ticket, though most Packard buyers demonstrated more reserved taste when specifying the colors for their new cars.
  3. Be forewarned, this 1928 Studebaker Dictator Series GE started life as a coupe, has been converted to the open car it is now. That and the hideous clown colors reduces the value well below what is being ask.
  4. Walt, I think you've stumped us all with this one. Okay, we give up, what obscure make is this touring car? I'd like to add my thanks to all who have contributed. Wish I could contribute more but simply haven't collected that much which would be worthwhile to post. Know that I've greatly enjoyed and learned much from all these wonderful images.

  7. Occasionally, a custom body in the early decades features a design that we now recognize was decades in the future. The Coupe Madame by Janoir greenhouse looks like a Studebaker two door sedan from 1947-'52. Uncanny when those out-of-period design features appear, very avant-garde for the time. Wonder who designed that?
  8. Posted are the only two in the listing. Given they can run up to 24 pictures, wonder why people are so stingy.

  10. I've never seen a '35 Ford seven passenger sedan before. Who was the coachbuilder?
  11. Not to make light of the tragedy, but if some hollered "MOLASSES!!! Run for your life!" What would you do?
  12. A make and model that should be high on your list of potential candidates would be a 1926 or 1927 Studebaker Big Six. The engine is a 354 cu in L-Head six and four wheel brakes became optional in 1926, standard for 1927. It would have the capability to maintain the cruising speed and four wheel brakes to better handle situations that might arise. The Antique Studebaker Club is focused on the pre-WWII models, would be a good source to discover available cars that might fit the bill.
  13. Walker is washing his 1940 Packard 110 convertible coupe. The Packard 110 was the low-priced six cylinder model. Nice picture, interest octagonal house in the background. We have a few of those in the Northeast.
  14. Timely request, there are cars readily available such as this '24 Studebaker Light Six touring. https://youngstown.craigslist.org/cto/d/southington-1924-studebaker/7130045969.html
  15. Your family members were unusually tall for that era, note in comparison to the Graham-Paige 610.
  16. This is as good as I can get the Duesenberg J Kirchoff convertible sedan image to improve.
  17. I thought it looked like a good value and holds a lot of potential for the right person. Best of all, you get those unusual rear door 'quarter' windows that crank down with the main glass, like all 1956 Mopar four door hardtops, a one-year-only feature!
  18. 1956 Plymouth Belvedere four door hardtop - $4000 - Nevada - Not Mine .https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/d/boulder-city-1956-plymouth-belvedere/7138416752.html 4 door sedan, 303 wedge motor. Only one little spot of rust on the front pan under the grille. Runs needs fuel pump and valve seals. All complete with a trunk full of extra parts. 60,636 miles, automatic transmission noted. I have no personal interest or stake in the eventual sales of this 1956 Plymouth Belvedere four door hardtop.
  19. I see you are catching onto my motivation to post some of these CL pickings. It is that there are good values to be found in older collector cars available for those without major expenditures, cars that can be enjoyed with family and friends without depleting the family fortune. Not everyone has five figures to commit to what is essentially the luxury of a collector car to only use for enjoyment, not daily transportation.
  20. The other roadster that speeds by is the question.
  21. I seem to recall a pink '56 Chrysler New Yorker station wagon was used for the introduction of a 1970's-'80's TV show to imply the family wasn't too well-off, but can't recall the name of the show. Anyone remember?
  22. Buster Keaton should have known not to race a what-is-it roadster with a Model T. Any guesses what make that roadster was?
  23. 1955 Hudson Wasp - $12,500 - Idaho https://lewiston.craigslist.org/cto/d/ahsahka-1955-hudson-wasp-custom/7138740304.html Rare 1955 Hudson Wasp Custom sedan, 6 cyl. 9 volt, dual carbs. New master and wheel cylinders, brakes, plugs, rotor, condenser, cap, filters (fuel/air), tires. Continental kit, good interior. Runs but needs some TLC. Great for restorers and collectors. I have no personal interest or stake in the eventual sale of this 1955 Hudson Wasp.
