  1. Yes, I knew Tom Stamp, saw that '38 Bentley 4 1/4 L MX sport sedan before it was lost in the 1976 fire in his Dansville shop. Mental images of that Bentley still haunt me...
  2. Yeah, once in a while, I'll PM you when this virus situation is done, run over for a visit.
  3. Yes, the Hogs Trough was quite the rough place but gone now. The inmates were the people you recall, pretty rough crowd, got very rowdy many times, back before the DWI laws put the clamp on such shenanigans. Dalton had the Banking House, a good deal more 'civilized' than the Trough. The Banking House is gone completely now too. Even our last bar closed and is now a daycare facility. Times change, however slowly even here. The only time people come through Dalton now is to go to the Maple Tree Inn for pancakes in the late winter-spring, get lost because the roads are confusing south of here. BTW the Hog's Trough was in Oakland, down west of Nunda, just over the Town of Portage line because Nunda was a dry town left over from the days when the Nunda town fathers wouldn't have a booze joint in their village...but weren't opposed to visiting them in other towns, such as the Genessee Falls Hotel and others...
  4. 1949 Packard Standard Eight - $5500 - OH - Not Mine https://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/d/rootstown-1949-packard/7141053604.html 1949 Packard all original never painted or modified, runs and drives good has some new basic parts. Has some rust in the rockers have new rockers need installed. Phone calls only NO TEXT. Contact: Randy (330) - 2-eighty-three - thirty-nine-09 I have no personal stake or interest in the eventual sale of this 1949 Packard Standard Eight sedan. Parenthetically, I will note that clubs, regions, parts and on-line help support for Packards is among the best for any orphan nameplate.
  5. When folks I meet when visiting family and friends in Colorado, they assume I must be from NYC. Dalton is about 300 miles from the Big Apple, more akin to western Pennsylvania and Ohio. I even had my brother-in-law's sister tell me "It must be wonderful to go to all those Broadway shows." She was surprised when I told here how far away NYC was from here and that I have never been to a Broadway show. In fact, she lives closer to Denver than I do to NYC. Poor geography familiarity is systemic.
  6. The windshield and door tops are the dead give-away. Neither are configured the way they built bodies then, not even the convertible coupes. Worst, they rarely add any structural bracing to the pillars so the poor car is a shaky mess when driven.
  7. Glad to see this unusual '65 Mercury Montclair found an appreciative new owner.
  8. 1959 LINCOLN PREMIERE SEDAN - $10500 - New York https://buffalo.craigslist.org/cto/d/clarence-center-1959-lincoln-premiere/7140804587.html# Really sharp LINCOLN PREMIERE SEDAN. It is an older restoration but with just minimal TLC this already special car can be outstanding. Runs and drives just fine. Well loved and cared for. Take a look at the pictures and give me a call with any questions you may have or set a time for a test drive. George (7-sixteen) nine-12-four-thousand-2 Notes: 75,000 miles, one of 1,282 1959 Lincoln Premiere pillared hardtop sedans built. I have no personal interest or stake in the eventual sale of this 1959 Lincoln Premiere. Parenthetically, When I was a LCOC member twenty years ago, I was told these unibody 1958-'60 Lincolns and Continentals were among the most difficult and expensive cars to restore properly.
  9. There is a 1929 Cadillac 341-B five passenger Victoria coupe by Fisher about two miles from here that was disassembled in the 1970's including the engine. Its now been wished off on the grand-nephew of the prior owner. The grand-nephew still entertains notions of a restoration himself although the has not the shop, tools and worst skills to do it. Encouragement to pass it onto a Cadilac collector with the resources and skills necessary have mostly fallen on deaf ears, even after cuing him in on how costly a proper restoration will be.
  10. 1962 Plymouth Valiant - $3500 - OH - Not Mine https://zanesville.craigslist.org/cto/d/mount-perry-1962-plymouth-valiant/7135206463.html 1962 Plymouth Valiant for sale. A Body. 50,365 miles. Slant 6 motor. Manual 3 speed transmission. New tires. Runs well, fun to drive! Includes 2 slant 6 motors and one transmission. Phone: (7-4-zero) - twenty-two-1-fourteen-66. I have no personal stake or interest in the eventual sale of this 1962 Plymouth Valiant sedan.
  11. The colors presented in catalogues of the period might well have been available on special order but were rarely considered standard factory color selections. At times, these bold colors were simply the flites of fancy by the advertising artist. For the extreme extroverted, such colors were just the ticket, though most Packard buyers demonstrated more reserved taste when specifying the colors for their new cars.
  12. Be forewarned, this 1928 Studebaker Dictator Series GE started life as a coupe, has been converted to the open car it is now. That and the hideous clown colors reduces the value well below what is being ask.
  13. 1965 Mercury Montclair Breezeway - $1800 - manual shift overdrive - IN - Not Mine https://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/d/brownsburg-1965-mercury-mont-clair/7138969266.html This is a very rare Mont Clair barn find, 71000 original miles, manual three on the tree transmission with a Borg Warner Over Drive (Cable version), new rebuilt 390 motor, numbers matching, reinstalled but not completed. Good floorboards and trunk, bottom of back fenders need attention otherwise not bad for a 55 year old car, parked for the last 3 years car is not in running condition, this is a project car with all the parts to put it back together. Price is firm. have over 2000 in motor alone. Call Dave at (616)-five-fifty-two-30-zero-one cell or text I have no personal interest or stake in the eventual sale of this 1965 Mercury Montclair Breezeway. 15. Posted are the only two in the listing. Given they can run up to 24 pictures, wonder why people are so stingy.
  16. 1942 Studebaker Champion - $10000 - Denver, CO https://denver.craigslist.org/cto/d/broomfield-1942-studebaker-champion/7136674594.html Up for sale is a 100% original 1942 Studebaker - 38K original miles and completely restored!.. 17. Not to make light of the tragedy, but if some hollered "MOLASSES!!! Run for your life!" What would you do?
  18. A make and model that should be high on your list of potential candidates would be a 1926 or 1927 Studebaker Big Six. The engine is a 354 cu in L-Head six and four wheel brakes became optional in 1926, standard for 1927. It would have the capability to maintain the cruising speed and four wheel brakes to better handle situations that might arise. The Antique Studebaker Club is focused on the pre-WWII models, would be a good source to discover available cars that might fit the bill.
  19. Walker is washing his 1940 Packard 110 convertible coupe. The Packard 110 was the low-priced six cylinder model. Nice picture, interest octagonal house in the background. We have a few of those in the Northeast.
  20. Timely request, there are cars readily available such as this '24 Studebaker Light Six touring. https://youngstown.craigslist.org/cto/d/southington-1924-studebaker/7130045969.html
  21. Your family members were unusually tall for that era, note in comparison to the Graham-Paige 610.
  22. I thought it looked like a good value and holds a lot of potential for the right person. Best of all, you get those unusual rear door 'quarter' windows that crank down with the main glass, like all 1956 Mopar four door hardtops, a one-year-only feature!
  23. 1956 Plymouth Belvedere four door hardtop - $4000 - Nevada - Not Mine .https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/d/boulder-city-1956-plymouth-belvedere/7138416752.html 4 door sedan, 303 wedge motor. Only one little spot of rust on the front pan under the grille. Runs needs fuel pump and valve seals. All complete with a trunk full of extra parts. 60,636 miles, automatic transmission noted. I have no personal interest or stake in the eventual sales of this 1956 Plymouth Belvedere four door hardtop.
  24. I see you are catching onto my motivation to post some of these CL pickings. It is that there are good values to be found in older collector cars available for those without major expenditures, cars that can be enjoyed with family and friends without depleting the family fortune. Not everyone has five figures to commit to what is essentially the luxury of a collector car to only use for enjoyment, not daily transportation.
