  1. No, not Goggle, The Splendid Stutz, edited by Raymond A. Katzell, page 253. I've both been fascinated by the late 1920's coach built convertible victoria configuration before it became most associated with Dietrich, Rollston and Brunn; and frustrated no full images of the car seem to exist. Advertised as "an 8-passenger coupe"; well, folks were considerably less broad of beam then...
  2. Year: 1928 Make: Stutz Model: Series BB Coachbuilder: Locke Body Style: Convertible Victoria, 6-passenger Attractive style, though something of a novelty to still include a rumble seat with the interior passenger seating of the convertible victoria. New York Custom Salon exhibit.

  12. That sounds about right! The Ford dealer probably would have given me that Custom Eight just to get it off the lot...except I was eleven years old, and my folks wouldn't have let me have it.
  13. AJ: What did your dad have to give for that '48 Packard in 1963, about $25? The Ford dealer here took a '48 Packard Custom Eight sedan in trade in 1963 from the spinster daughter of local banker. Although it was still in good, garage-kept condition, it sat on the backlot line of cheap cars with $25 soaped on the windshield. Later I saw it with all the other unsaleable cars up on the hill at this farm in the junkyard. Steve
  14. For Sale:1952 Chevrolet Styleline Special Sport Coupe, 74K miles - $8,500 - Pierce, CO 1952 Chevrolet Coupe - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle automotive... (craigslist.org) Seller's Description: For sale is a 1952 Chevrolet Coupe. This is original as one can get. Has original straight 6 215 ci 6-volt motor. Has a three in the tree transmission that shifts easily. Has bias ply tires on that still air but do show signs of dry rot from age. The paint looks clean, it does look as if it has been repainted, but it is still the original color, lacquer style and an older job. The car was parked indoors when I found it, so the car in very clean and rust free. Even the frame and underside are just surface rust. The car hadn’t run in several years, so I put a new 6-volt battery, new oil and checked over the whole motor. I was able to get it running and driving under its own power. The tank is full of old gas, so I bypassed the old tank and used a small gas can supply the fuel pump and carb. I have drove the car up and down the road, brakes stop the car and didn’t overheat. A beautiful car to leave as is and enjoy yesteryear or a very solid car to update and make it your own. I don’t need help selling, no codes or cash app transfers. Cash is king. I’m real, the car is real, let’s get together to put this in your shop! Contact: (970) three-8-1-nine-1-2-four No call/texts after 9pm or before 7am please. 15. Here is the all-vinyl 1966 Ambassador DPL interior which might be a tad more attractive to live with. BTW: Does anyone have good photos of a 1966 Plymouth Fury VIP four door or two door hardtop and the interior?
  16. Den41Buick: Congratulations, you bought yourself one fine motorcar! Thanks too for posing the original question, it generated a lot of interesting discussions. Steve
  17. Only the 1931 Chrysler Imperial Eight Series CG and the 1932 Chrysler Imperial Eight Series CH had hood louvers, the Series CL Custom Imperials have hood doors. Counting the louvers may help identify when compared to the Series 1931 CD and 1932 CP.

(craigslist.org) Seller's Description: 1961 Plymouth Valiant Sedan, Project - $225 Slant 6 with Push-Button select 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission. Runs, drives and is in good mechanical condition! The Car was garaged for 25 years prior to my purchasing it. Nearly "rust free" California car! Needs some minor tuning and will require cosmetics to be 100% correct.Engine runs well, and the automatic transmission was professionally rebuilt last year! The Master cylinder, Brakes, bearings and seals were replaced with new parts last year. My mechanic located four (4) good factory brake drums. Oil and fluids have been changed recently and the cooling system has been flushed. The Battery is in serviceable range, having been replaced 2 years ago. Factory fuel tank should be replaced, but I had the fuel pump replaced and a fuel cell installed in the trunk during the restoration process. 20. Steve, The Ford factory-catalogued club cabriolet with its rather elegant proportions bears the hallmarks of both E.T. Gregorie's design talent and Edsel Ford's unerring eye for good design. Although the Dietrich convertible victoria was a direct influence on the design of the new all-steel 1938 Packard Six and Eights 2/4 passenger convertible coupes, the Ford club cabriolet demonstrated how well it could be rendered on a chassis of modest length. Steve
  21. Here are two nzcarnerd (Mark) forwarded to me for improvement that were posted on Facebook by a Ward Wells. The first one appears to be a 1926-'29 Locomobile 90 sedan. The second image was said to be a Peerless touring.

  24. John: Some answer might be found in this Curbside Classics article: Panther Finale: 1981 Town Coupe In Pine Opalescent – The eBay CC Effect | Curbside Classic I recall reading in "Continental Comments", the LCOC club publication, that the 1980-'81 Continental town coupe sales dropped to less than half of what they were for the last years of the 1970's Continental Town Coupes. The 1977-79 Continental Mark V which had been wildly popular with 75K-80K annual sales; the market rejected the downsized Mark Vi coupes to approximately 20K annual sales. Fielding two similar Panther-platform two door Lincolns, both with comparatively dismal sales returns, couldn't be justified, so the better selling Mark VI got the nod. Steve
