  5. I have never been asked that question. But a few years ago I was working on my Reo Royale on the driveway. And a 5 year old girl came by and said you should go to the car store and buy a new car. I agreed with her and said you are absolutely right.
  6. Here is something very interesting from the Bloomberg site. 1, they have a new section called Bloomburg Green, which deals with environmental issues. 2, BP stock has dropped to a 25 year low, just after announcing it’s going green. Looks like everybody hates oil and gas. Yet the Gulf of Mexico oil spill did not affect Bp as much as this announcement ?
  7. I saw this on the news today. Other U.S. political news from California has the oil market's attention this week. California Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order mandating that would prohibit the sale of internal combustion engine cars in his state by 2035. California is the largest state in the U.S. with about 40 million people, but this is not as big of a deal as it seems since Newsom probably lacks the authority to do this, and it can be overturned easily by a future governor between now and 2035.Moreover, it is an impractical order because California’s electrical grid lacks the capacity to handle this. Though this order may be copied by other states, oil traders should not read too much into these state efforts unless or until the car manufacturers start responding to them with altered strategy.
  8. The ban is also being expanded to hybrid cars and plug-in hybrids, which had not been included under the original proposals.
  9. Driving up emissions: Polluting plug-in hybrids are the car industry’s 'wolf in sheep’s clothing' spewing out two and a half times more CO2 in real life than reported from lab tests Hybrid vehicles are run off of a combination of battery power and combustion Greenpeace and Transport & Environment ran their own tests on hybrid cars This said they emit 188.3 grams of CO2 per mile, not 70.8 grams as advertised The UK will be banning new sales of petrol and diesel vehicles in the near future Environmental groups are calling for hybrid cars to be added to this prohibition
  10. Get your motors running! Car enthusiasts don vintage outfits as they flood the streets of Moscow for a retro rally to mark the 50th anniversary of the Lada Vintage car lovers headed to Gorkyclassic GUM Rally in Moscow yesterday to mark anniversary of Lada car Car enthusiasts dressed up in vintage outfits and donned head scarfs as they posed for snaps in the cars The vehicle is named after Moscow's biggest car shop, with the classic car show taking place yearly This year marked 50th anniversary of Russia's trusted Lada car from AvtoVAZ Russian car lovers donned vintage outfits to flock the streets of Moscow and mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of the popular Lada car yesterday. Gathering for the Gorkyclassic GUM Rally, the vintage vehicle enthusiasts celebrated the creation of one of their countries most well-known and trusted cars, with models dating back to the 1970s at the heart of the celebration. The classic car show, which takes place once a year in the Russian capital, sees vintage car lovers gather together, some opting for vintage looks to go with their vehicles. The Lada, which was first commercialised in 1970, was manufactured by AvtoVAZ, a Russian company now owned by the French group Renault. The original 1970 Lada car was the star of this year's show with several models making it to the rally. Families walked up to the Lada models, all parked together during the show, some of which were adorned with GUM rally stickers. AvtoVAZ's Lada, which was first manufactured in 1970, with technical help from Fiat, takes its name from a type of small boat in Slavic language. It was born out of a cooperation agreement between Fiat and the Soviet minister of automotive industry Alexander Tarasov signed in 1966.
  11. Maybe this was going on in the GM Factory A man answered an ad that read "Hiring welders $18-$24 per hour" When he arrived he was told he'd have to take a welding test. He turned in 2 sets of welds. One was a great weld, the other was a mess. When the boss asked him why he did this he replied "One is $18/hr, the other is $24/hr".
  12. In the early 1970's at the local service station a customer was complaining about a noise in the back of his new Buick Riviera when he went around a corner. The Buick Dealer could find the trouble so the service station took the back seat out and the brace that went from one side of the car to the other was not welded. They welded it and the noise was gone. I always wonder how many other high end cars came out like that. Then there is the Coke bottle on a string trick that was used to make a noise when the car turned.
  13. I saw this headline in a British newspaper I do not know if it is BS or someone is really thinking this way. New petrol and diesel cars could be made £1,500 more expensive to subsidise electric vehicles under proposals considered by the government Study looking into ways of accelerating EV uptake was commissioned by the DfT It proposed the introduction of a 'feebate' scheme - this would see the cost of petrol and diesel cars increase and the funds used to subsidise EV prices Hike in price of new internal combustion engine cars would be £500-£1,500 Members of the public polled on the proposal were widely against the scheme SMMT blasted the suggestion, saying it penalises those who don't want EVs yet A feasibility study commissioned by minsters on ways to accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles has suggested making new petrol and diesel cars £1,500 more expensive. The report, published by the Department for Transport this week, said the funds generated by the additional cost of motors with internal combustion engines could be used to subsidise battery vehicles, which are generally more expensive to buy. But the motor industry's trade body has blasted the suggestion, saying such a move would penalise those who can't afford electric cars currently, or don't have the facilities to charge them.
  14. From what I have been told to get investments from Banks And Equity Funds the Oil companies are diversifying into clean Energy. EnergyBP takes first step into offshore windBP (NYSE:BP) is continuing its seismic strategy shift in abandoning the oil major business model, making its first venture into offshore wind power with a $1.1B purchase of U.S. assets from Norway's Equinor (NYSE:EQNR). The British firm will receive a 50% stake in the Empire Wind and Beacon Wind developments off New York and Massachusetts, respectively, while Equinor will retain 50% in both, and continue to act as the operator. Just six months after taking the helm, BP CEO Bernard Looney said in August he'd shrink oil and gas output by 40% over the next decade and spend as much as $5B a year building one of the world's largest renewable power businesses.
