  1. Replacing the wood structure on my 1931 Reo Royale Victoria as most of the wood was rotted out or missing. Plus the car was taken apart years ago or used as a parts car now I am trying to find the parts. Thank goodness for the invention of the camera so I can tell what items should look like.

  4. I guess this is what Roof Watchers did ? Civilian protection. Fire watchers from points of vantage on roof tops and streets maintain unceasing vigilance for fallen incendiary bombs. They immediately seek to control them with equipment stored nearby In 1940, at the age of 16, I was allowed to serve with the men as a "Fire Watcher." This entailed spells of duty on the roof of buildings to smother any incendiary bomb in our section with sandbags or, if a fire had already started, to drench it with water using a stirrup pump and a bucket of water until the fire brigade took over. The Luftwaffe followed this fire raising exercise by dropping HE bombs that caused the fires to spread even more. There were many fatalities and casualties amongst the ordinary civilians as well as the Police, Fire and Ambulance services who were taking the injured to over-worked hospitals. We took pride in the fact that with our limited resources we had seved all the buildings in our section. 13. Not my car but someone sent it to me. If someone wants to enlarge the picture feel free to do it as it shows hundreds on pumpkins. 1951 Ford Convertible
  14. Here is a story for old car fans. The original owner a company stored a 1929 Reo Speedwagon in a Transport Trailer out of the elements for 60 years. It was in near perfect condition including seats, truck racks, bed and paint. The 2nd owner let it sit outside in the weather for 5 years and the elements basically destroyed it. The reason he left it outside was so people could take pictures standing beside the old truck. The 3rd owner is restoring it slowly and says the metal is solid. By the way he is looking for a rim for the Reo LOOKING FOR A RIM LIKE THIS BELOW
  15. I went into a small welding shop about 15 years ago to have a small piece welded. I was standing right beside the welder waiting for him to finish his welding and I looked into a 45 gallon drum he used for garbage. At the bottom were two Record vices Made in England that had been thrown out and replaced with new ones. I asked if I could have them and he said sure I gave hime $20 a piece so there would be no trouble. I gave them to my son in law who loves them even though they have some slag and chips on them. It has to be worth a few hundred dollars ? This is a stock photo not the actual vice.
