  1. I bought a '51 Packard with no low range operation for $25. Drove it daily for 3 years and gave it to my Dad. Worked fine in drive , wouldn't move in low. The previous owner must have tried changing the driving gear as described. I never bothered trying to fix it, I bought a '47 Hudson Commodore coupe for $40 to replace it. I later bought my wife a 53 Packard Clipper for $125 , very low mileage , with new " Double Eagle" tires on it. Her driver for several years. These were used cars in the late 60's and early 70's , cheap gas and plenty of replacement parts in " junk" yards. The good old days? That's a nice looking Packard and they ride as nice as a Hudson stepdown , but they don't handle as well.

  5. Thanks for more info , your instincts were probably right ,considering the image issue and communication problems.
  6. Get to know your buyer , get to know your seller. Most people that buy from me ask to use " friends & family." It's an open option that paypal offers. I don't see a scam in the brief description , but I might be missing it. ? If you are uncomfortable with the sellers terms , pass on the purchase , or work something else out.
  7. Most are ordinary tools , tough to sell at $1 each at flea market. Make up a priority flat rate box full and sell them at a shipped price. " Tool Talk and " SmokeStak" are good forums for these.
  8. I used one of those in 1963 , rented from UHaul I think. Towed a 1936 Studebaker Dictator coupe with a 1953 Olds Holiday coupe. California to Ohio , 4 days , two drivers. Dropped it off at another dealer for my deposit. No problems that I recall.
