  1. I'm wondering about that too Ray. I hope so.
  2. Want to Buy a Really Big Dodge? Anna Dodge’s Delphine is For Sale | The Truth About Cars Interesting read.
  3. Nice looking car Dave. How about some more photos of it?
  4. I'm not sure if 1927 is exactly the same but this thread may help a little: http://forums.aaca.org/f143/confusion-rear-axle-seals-25-a-329091.html
  5. Glad to help while the knowledge is still fresh...
  6. The coefficient of thermal expansion isn't much different between 'regular' and typical stainless steel. 304 Stainless is maybe 30% greater so if they are of this alloy, you may want to open up the clearances a wee bit.
  7. I wouldn't expect them to be different Richard. They appear to be the same based on studying the wheel cross sections in the mechanics manual. Compare the dimensions of what you have to these links. 8. Hi Richard, Assuming your '25 uses the same as my '25 (on which I've done bearings recently), the inner bearing and race should be easy to come by as they are still produced. Timken 2788 bearing and 2729 race; I paid $68 total for 2 each (less shipping). The outer bearing is, unfortunately, not in production nor could I find any cross reference. It is Timken 1751 and while you can find them, they are very pricey (Amazon had them). The race for this is a 1730 which appears to still be available. I was lucky that my outer bearings were still in good shape. The outer bearing does not have a grease seal as the screw on cap keeps in the grease.
  9. Blinking yellow lights with low bridge warning are just for decoration...
  10. Perhaps he meant no fuel pump? Seems a bit too pie in the sky at this point...
  11. Pete, I feel your pain and frustration... Perhaps you could look up a Model T club or equivalent in your area and ask people who have recently registered old vehicles in Mass. how they went about it. Maybe there is a MVD that is more experienced and worth a longer to drive.
  12. Fwiw Pete, I bought a jack at Hershey last year from a vendor that specialized in jacks (they had hundreds). According to them, the 25 DB jack was like the one John has picured in the tool kit. I'm out of town or I'd take a few photos for you.
  13. That seems a bit difficult to believe. Are you sure the firm is legitimate? Posted is not a very large stretch from postal (although that word has acquired an extra meaning in modern times).
  14. Agreed Paul. R-12 is not too difficult to come by on fleabay either. I've paid around $20 - $25 a pound (not including shipping).
  15. There is an EPA site somewhere that has a table showing various R-12 substitutes and what they are composed of. Sorry I don't have the link handy but iirc, Freeze 12 is 80% R-134a and 20% R-22 (?) I'm not 100% sure what the 20% component was.
  16. "you can safely stick your arm into it to pick up a part that has slipped off of whatever you intended to use to lift that part out of the vat", True, but wash it off quick or you will stain and smell like old molasses for a day or two...
  17. I don't have any scientific evidence one way or other. I can only say it did not seem to eat away clean metal when I did my engine splash shields which were too large to fully submerge in my bucket. Some cleaned areas were overlapped when I flipped them over and I saw no obvious signs of dissolving metal ( thickness was unchanged per dial caliper). YMMV...
  18. Interesting... I have one of those on the lawn tractor....
  19. The molasses is pretty well documented, try Googling it. It's also cheap. I pay around $10 for a gallon of animal grade syrup (at TSC) and dilute it in a big plastic bucket. It does work well but slower than the other 'formulas' out there. It works faster at warm ambient temps if you have that luxury. It will also remove paint if left long enough.
  20. Isn't that what the Joad family used in Grapes of Wrath?
  21. I've had some success with animal grade molasses (diluted 5 - 9 parts water, 1 part molasses).
  22. They banned fat broads? Seems like the kind of thing that could get an organization sued these days... The PlastiPlate will be just the thing for the trailer queens! They'll just put some casters on the bottom and roll it up into the trailer...
  23. I don't know if you can get this in the U.K. but it does a good job of sealing petrol connection. I have the 16 oz. bottle which is a multiple lifetime supply (it's all I could find). http://www.permatex.com/products/automotive/automotive_gasketing/gasket_sealants/auto_Permatex_Aviation_Form-A-Gasket_No_3_Sealant_a.htm
