  1. Ha ha! Well Bill with this global warming and all you just can't be too sure...
  2. I have never observed anything like that before... I would think with a large spark like that it would cause a misfire were it inapropriate grounding. Static electricity is more prone in dry climates. Has it been especially dry? Any folks int he (U.S.) southwest seen anything like that?
  3. Interesting... I assumed it would have extended to the carb. Occrj, I have also noticed the condensation form on the upper chamber of the carb and it did feel cool to the touch. It may be an evaporative effect from the fuel/air mixture passing through.
  4. The body appears pretty straight but the yellow paint just doesn't do it for me.... If it isn't full of bondo it could be a good start.
  5. Yes, thanks for posting it Pete. If you do have to remove it again for some reason I would be interested to see the entire thing from a few different angles.
  6. I did buy a reproduction muffler from Meyers or Romar and it appears to be period correct in as far as it is cylindrical and about the right diameter.
  7. What a find! I'm glad to hear your are taking the conservation approach with this time machine. Best of luck with it; a beauty for sure.
  8. Wow! If I wasn't building a touring car... What is planned for the rest of it?
  9. "1915-1928 dodges are the least desirable to make rods out of", why is that I wonder? Maybe we need to publicize the reasons...
  10. It seems Kansas has a nice supply of barn finds... these guys usually have an interesting selection of pre-WWII cars. Model T Haven - Your source for parts and pieces of the car that made history.
  11. It appears amazingly rust-free. But there may be some skillful bondo work under that primer. It would be a shame to see it rodded.
  12. Ah, but a great tangent it is Ray! The article on the Blackpool Tower was quite interesting; a true multi-purpose venue! I don't believe I've ever seen a Jukebox looking like regular furniture before. I wonder if anyone ever produced one that used Edison cylinder records?
  13. Aside from those minor items... think of the satisfaction of DIY.
  14. That is interesting about the copper lines. Maybe they did some special metallurgical processing to strengthen the copper. Is the concern low burst pressure or low fatigue strength?
  15. That is really an exceptional Jukebox Pete. A beautiful piece... I would imagine parts a quite scarce. When did you restore it? It's hard to imagine how much more difficult it was to communicate before the internet (I mean you had to write a letter and get around to mailing the letter and then waiting days/months to hear anything back). I've dabbled in rebuilding player pianos (the player guts) and while challenging, there are a few places that fabricate many of the items that tend to wear out. And even making what you need out of wood or leather isn't super difficult (I'm excluding the piano itself here). The intricate mechanisms found in these Jukeboxes would take some serious time, effort and tooling to repair/reproduce, I'm sure.
  16. That's a Hemi all right! It would get you there but may twist up the frame a bit in the process...
  17. That's a very nice little truck Pete. It does appear the wheel base is much shorter than the Dodge. It's pretty neat that it was a barn find and now you've got it going in dignified retirement living... It must have been a bit of culture shock when getting the DB and finding that you actually have to search out some parts rather than flip through a catalog. I like Model A's too so don't get me wrong. I'm just envious of antique car owner who's parts are just a click or two away (and $$$)
  18. It's a long way from being finished Pete... I have had it on the road a few times as a fender-less jalopy in primer (with doors though). I was hoping to get more finish work done on the fenders and aprons this winter but, well you know how it sometimes goes. You can do some real touring once you get those new tires on! I will certainly let you know when I need help with some details. What other old car projects are you working on?
  19. Sure. It's always interesting to see how various details are handled on other cars. Was it restored or a surviving original?
  20. Nothing wrong with the pubs though.... been a while since I've been able to enjoy a nice cask conditioned ale...
  21. On the video you can click the pause button to freeze the frame although it is hard to stop where you want since it is so sped up.
  22. I have already sourced a pair DB Fan but someone else here may need them. Thanks.
