  1. Double ditto and like from me to all of you!
  2. That's a fine lookin' paint job. Hear tell it was meticulously caressed by some steady hands. Good luck with the sale buddy!
  3. I was able to purchase a newer socket from Advance auto and remove the innards to put in my original bezel. Worked out great. WD40 is how I got the old bulb out, which is Bob's idear!
  4. I would suggest jacking the car up safely and securely so the rear wheels are able to spin. There are procedures in the Buick manual for checking pressures in every gear selection and by following these guidelines, troubleshooting if and where the problem is or isn't. I just went through all of these steps on my 56 Dynaflow because of reverse band being out. But, I checked and rechecked everything to make sure the fluid and pressures were correct before I underwent the task of changing out the transmission and replacing it with a rebuilt one.
  5. I started the tube back in the tranny, started all of the bolts, pulling the seal into the groove, then dropped the rear end of the car down as far as I possibly could and still get under to tighten the bolts. I have no leaks and all looked good, so I didn't question why?
  6. .............and with correct placement, this townhouse could be considered to have a "two" car garage.
  7. Helps make sure the alignment is correct and the weight of the car helps 'seat' the torque ball when tightening. I was advised to do this by my dynaflow rebuilder. So, I did!
  8. Might I ad that before tightening the bolts on the torque tube, make sure the full weight of the car is back on the rear axle.
  9. Amen Buick Bretheren! God Bless us all and keep us safe And sound!
  10. Made it to Binghamton, NY for the concert there, but by the time I got home Saturday night and the way the snow fell over night, didn't have enough in me to shovel the snow and then drive to NYC. I'll go there next year. All in all, I had a wonderful time and met some really great people.
  11. Congrats on the calendar pictures! Should be really proud of your car! Matt
  12. Thanks guys. To get an idea of what I'm talking about, check this out........ All tuba and euphonium players gather together at Rockefeller center on the ice to play Christmas carols. This is the 40th anniversary this year and I would expect more than 400 players there. Notice, there are no other types of instruments, only tubas. So, I will be in Binghamton, NY on Saturday for a concert and then Sunday in NYC. Wish us luck. Matt
  13. Your braking issues may be the hardness of the lining material used when replacing the brakes. The older lining was much solfter and grabbed a little better. You also might just try driving the car a little more and see if the brakes form better to the drums after they heat up several times.
  14. Some time to post, but not done much work on the car. I have the resto of the hood to sand/buff and the drivers fender and passenger door. Don't know how I managed that. Then, I need to sand out all of the pontoons, etc. Matt
  15. Put the car away into storage last night. Pulled off the wiper motor to be sent off and rebuilt over the winter. I still have access to the car so when I get my new linkage assembly, seat ashtray and aquire a drivers door mirror, I can install everything. Driveway sure looks bare. I've not done much lately. Been practicing tuba for the winter TUBACHRISTMAS concerts. Matt
  16. Our thoughts and prayers are with both of you and your families!
  17. I also feel truly blessed with the friends I have acquired here on the chat board and at the meets. May each of you have a great and Buickful day with your families and friends. God bless and keep you safe always! Matt
  18. Mateo Welcome to the forum. I am also restoring a 47 convertible but am not sure of the quantity of leather required. Please post aome pictures of your car and maybe even start a thread in the "Me and My Buick" section. Your American counterpart. Matt
  19. Nahuel As long as the switch is in the off or on position, you should be able to remove it by using a small metal pin and lots of penetrating oil and patience. If you are removing for key pattern, it is much easier to remove glove box mechanism or door tumbler to get the key code. On the door, the code is on the flat rod that connects the back of the tumbler to the door latch. If you have a manual, all of this is in there. Matt
  20. I am dedicating at least 1 hour per night during the week to wet sanding. If I do not do this, I'll never get past this stage. It might take a couple of weeks, but I am moving along. I have several spots that are gonna need touching up, but I was expecting worse as I hadn't painted in 25+ years or so. Here are a couple more pictures. I get ahead of myself, but I also cannot help myself! Haha:p
  21. Haha! Funny, but I happen to have 3 more of those that look just like it!
  22. Well, following the prescribed "Wet sand and wet sand, then wet sand some more and buff", I was able to spend an hour or so in the garage doing just that today. I took my time and turned on the music. Had the heat on and had a great time with the car. If anyone would have been listening, they would think that I'd have gone crazy or that I had a woman in there and was trying to seduce her. I have two pictures to load here so you can see the results of before and after. This was only after buffing with a "heavy cut" compound. I didn't want to change out the bonnet and lo ok for the lighter compound. It's funny how "fat" we look when we take pictures of our paint!
  23. Time to get this girl in storage for the year...............contemplating working with a welding shop and see if they want a "fill in" job for the winter.......... Looks as if going to get the 47' Super convertible will be at least early 2014. I will need to pull the head on the motor as it is stuck and I managed to break off a spark plug. Last one of course. I already have a new head gasket coming. Gosh.....can't get enough of these things and not enough time in the day. Matt
