  1. I will stop after this one. Mexico is still part of America. We have a free trade agreement with them that mutually benefits both. I love the look of both vehicles. Many products, good products are made in China. But, given the chance to purchase out of a lineup. I will puchase one made here because I am just hardheaded and stuck in my ways.
  2. After my dentist appointment this afternoon, I did some of my own on the grill. Few more to go and then placement back on the holder
  3. Try to market a product in China and pay the import taxes and then sell it. Report back with your results. They make it very dificult, if not impossible to sell our goods there.
  4. As nice as they may look, as long as Buick cars are made in China, there will be NONE in my stable! Period! I don't care how many vehicles they purchase from us. Elimination of US jobs. Why? Because of the UAW, taxes, etc. the government has probably agreed to let them be imported tax free or at a lesser tax also. Ultimately, who wins? The consumer? Don't think so.
  5. I am looking for a source for bolts like these. The originals were chrome plated. I would rather replace than send out for rechroming as some have stripped threads and are cracked, etc. They are for a 1947 Buick convertible top mechanism. Any leads would be greatly appreciated Matt
  6. Still moving along. Stainless mounted down the drivers side and door handle, door lock also. Wiper towers also installed.
  7. Still available. If the switches and bezels were sold separately, they would cost more than this.
  8. Funny you asked. I have NO idea! I took the too mechanism, less the parts to be chromed and the header to be powdercoated locally and showed the guy a picture of an original cars color. The header is rattle can and clear coated. The can was a really close match. The top of the header, that always rusts through is painted with POR 15.
  9. The important thing is to accomplish at least something every day. Also started laying out the convertible top assembly. Off for fasteners tomorrow.......
  10. Busy night. Set windshield glass in the rubber to let it sit fer awhile. Replaced the window guide rollers for the door windows, painted the header for the convertible top and mounted the headlightbuckets with new gaskets. Oh, dis I mention that my rubber came in??? Maybe some grill teeth tomorrow. Matt
  11. Took a little more than 3 hoirs to accomplish this next feat......clean,disassemble,clean,prep,paint,mask,paint,unmask,clear! Whew! Then had to bolt the medallion on the hood ornament and then on the hood.
  12. Since the clock is ticking down to Allentown, time I got my rear in gear! A LOT of assembly work today. A LOT MORE to follow
  13. Happy New Year to all of you Buick Bretheren and Sisters also Matt

  15. Check with Lares Lares Corporation www.larescorp.com They post here on the forum also
  16. Don't know how I missed this thread, but congrats and bravo! I get excited when I see stories of people saving these old cars and much more so when it is younger people that are involved. You are doing great and I look forward to more as your adventure continues. Matt
  17. Merry Christmas to you and yours also! Give your mom and dad both higs from a complete and total stranger. I miss my parents terribly. Especially this time of year! Happy New Year Matt
  18. Got most of my chrome back from the plater for my 47' convertible
  19. I will also say "ditto"'on you are lucky to still have your mother. On the other hand, I got most of my chrome back from the plater on the 24th.
  20. I think at this point, I would pour a little oil in each plug hole, put the plugs back in, crank it over a bit, then pour a good "little" amount of gas in the carb with the throttle wide open. Put the air cleaner back on and crank it over with the battery charger hooked up and on high. The oil will help the compression come up just a bit on the first time you crank it with gas.
