  1. Bill thanks for rellying. Two of mine have the plastic broken so I am needing to replace quite a bit. I have an idea and will try something I did on my 56'
  2. For those who have these, they are really only for these years I believe. My "steel" sockets are useable, BUT, the part that I consider replaceable is very brittle, broken and frayed. How have others repaired/ replaced these? thanks Matt
  3. Do I have something wrong? Or am I missing something? all help appreciated. Wanting to crank her up by this weekend. thanks Matt
  4. In this picture, the oil line comes out of the bottom of the oil filter to the port in the head.
  5. In the picture above, there is a fitting with a yellow cloth stuck in it. The grey line coming out of the block to the right of the distributor is now hooked up to the top port on the external oil filter housing.
  6. I would appreciate any and all pictures of how the oil lines are run on other 320 ci engines. I seem to have either omitted plugging a hole or cannot remember where all of the lines go.
  7. My new convertible top is on order. I had almost forgotten to order it. Hoping to have everything else mostly done before the top gets here in 4 weeks. Company said is a 9 hour job (minimum) for someone that knows what they are doing!!!!
  8. Finishing up little wiring projects all afternoon. New everything to the headlight buckets and park/turn lamps. All the wires are hooked up at the radiator support. Started cleaning up the light bulb sockets for the taillights assemblies. They were pretty crusty. Still have to finish up the wiring at the sockets, then wire them in. Tomorrow another day and going to get the 56' out of storage.
  9. And this one is from the bottom of the filter to the port on the head
  10. In this picture, is the oil line coming from the bottom to the oil filter housing
  11. Thanks. Here are some pictures o what I have. One port is packed with a yellow wad to keep from leaking. (Oil comes out when cranking over motor. You can see the other oil line I hooked up next to it in another open port.
  12. Oil line dilema......since I am trying to finish everything up and start her within the next week, I realized I donmt know where all of the oil lines run from the block to the external filter and so on. Anyone got some pictures? I have two open holes on the bottom of the block near the oil pan. One has a 90 degree fitting in it and the other was just open and threaded. I hope to bend the fuel line that runs from fuel pump to carb tomorrow. Temp gauge and oil pressure gage are hooked up in their respective ports.
  13. Have so much to do that I can pick somethin different every night! Worked on a piece of stainless that goes around the tub (passenger side). A little more massaging and it will be ready to be put on.
  14. Really jumping into it now! Back on track and humming along.
  15. Might I add that a nice coating of wax on the freshly cleaned and dried chrome will help prevent oxidation from occuring so quickly
  16. Fuel line is ran. Funny how I sometimes forget I have a whole other car to look at. Doing a lot of odds and ends stuff trying to free up carpet space. I have manuals, soldering irons, drawings, trim pieces all over. Will try to tidy things up this weekend.
  17. Getting back in the groove again. Have to set one more piece of glass in passenger side door and done with windows. Most of the under dash wiring is complete. Have to finish turn signal wiring to column and horn button. Also need to wire clock. Got my new fuel line and was wondering if someone can take a couple pictures of how it runs through and against the frame.
  18. One great recommendation for Jim. He had a tranny on the shelf rebuilt, shipped it and I sent him my core back. Quick service and tranny works flawlessly. 56' special Matt
  19. Take those bolts out before dropping the tranny down for removal. I had to jack the unit back up to take them out, then took the lower ones out after i lowered the jack and tilted it. Tranny jack and another for supporting motor will make job easier
  20. Yes, dash and steering wheel scream 48' and the Super emblem definately is not long enough to say Roadmaster. Either way is a Buickful car!
  21. If that is 'your' radio, why not remove it and send it to be repaired at one of the many relair shops available. Depending upon location, members should be able to point you to a reputable shop
  22. Mr. Earl will be drooling in his cereal this morning.
  23. Guess I'm a little burnt out. Wiring is half finished under the dash. Did a little magic on the steering wheel until I can have the whole thing redone.
