  1. What information is on the vin plate tag? Is that the one located on the toe board? It should have model type, and frame number. I would like to confirm any similarity to my 29 DB model DE. My tag in poor condition, but frame # and model number can be read. Do you have any pictures of the replaced wood portion?
  2. I have the master cylinder in my truck that is the same as the passenger car. It is badly pitted and I need to rebuild. The attached picture shows the master cylinder. 1) when is it required to have it sleeved instead of clean up by resurfacing? 2) will a rebuild kit for standard 1 1/4" bore work with the resurfacing? 3) is the kit I found internet the correct one? It appears the kit works for 1930 to 1936. 4) is there a replacement from another later vehicle?
  3. [quote=countrytravler;1330101 Thanks for posting. Lots of these "E" series trucks over in Australia region.
  4. My AZ engine has good compression test and it appears to be a good engine. I not care to replace oil pan gaskets. Tearing down would confirm that they are the same bearings.I hoping someone has an engine tore down already. Actually since the bearing part numbers match that should be enough. They have same bearings. Still have a question about the additional stamping on the engine near motor number. There appears to be a V20 stamped. Is it possible this is stamped when the engine has a rebuild by "Authorized Dodge Brothers Service Station". ".
  5. Thanks. I guess not all parts listings were complete. I found matching casting #'s only in "the DB Truck 1 1/2 ton" parts list.
  6. It appears that the bearings are the same for truck and car DA-6 engines. I summarized my findings on various parts books. In general there is good agreement for the bearing parts numbers. There is a few differences but they may be typo errors on the listings in the parts books. Is there a listing for "crankshaft bearing caps" casting numbers for the " DB six parts list"? If so forward a copy. They should be the same as the casting numbers on my caps. Thanks for input.
  7. I have completed all woodwork on my 29 Dodge Bros truck. Cuts were mostly straight. Nothing fancy as in a passenger car. I use table saw, router, and hand tools. I did require the help of a friend to fabricate roof slats. He had a planner and a table saw that could rib 1/4 " slats. You should have good patterns to start and it helped to make prototypes out of softer wood like white pine to confirm the fit up of the pieces.
  8. Crankshaft Main Bearing Caps The summary of bearing caps are off my DA -6 engine that was in my 1929 DB 3/4 tn. Series "E" truck. I would like to verify that the truck DA-6 engine has different main bearings than the passenger engine. Does someone have a parts listing for the trucks and passenger cars because the listing would show the bearings are different. If this information is not available I would like to compare parts #'s, and journal and width dimensions with other DA engines. Rear # 40415, journal dia. 2.3750, width 2.0625 Middle # 40414, journal dia. 2.3750, width 1.71875 Front # 40412, journal dia. 2.2500, width 1.875 Intermediate (tot. 4) # 40413, journal dia. 2.3750, width 1.15625 Note the rear cap has 4 bolts and has a potion machined with holes for oil passages. The A and the last digit of parts # 5.
  9. I have two DA 6 truck engines. It is good to have a backup. I only have one correct trans. Thanks for offer But I have the correct fan. Interesting that my truck engine has some additional stamping near the motor number. Hard to read but appears to be V 20. I suspect that this may designate oversize main engine bearings. Do you notice any additional numbers on your truck engine?
  10. Dave here you go. This from my DA 120 truck manual.
  11. thanks for information. My "E" DA manual has a different view of the engine. The trans is not shown. Did I purchase the manual from you? I forgot where I got it. I remember cautioning you on removing the cast iron heat control valve. It was rusted so badly that broke off a small piece of the flange. Not sure best way to remove. Be careful. the attached photo is of the Victory the engine I got in in May in AZ. Note the exhaust exit in the front and motor number at rear of engine. Both of my DA 120 engines had the exhaust out the back and the motor number in near the water pump. The Victory 6 exhaust exits the rear of the engine since the starter/generator would be in the way of the exhaust. Another difference is the fan has only two blades on the passenger engine. The truck has four blades for better cooling. Where is your motor number and exhaust exit?
  12. Do not Facebook. But this sounds very interesting. Is there a link to You Tube?
  13. Sure looks like the cab of the truck you high lighted on the sales brochure and not a modified passenger car. The 29 DB "E" series offered a fire wall and cowl option. Do not know if this year did.
  14. note the wire junction on firewall above the steering box. Too many wire terminals for a truck. My 29 DB series E truck has only three terminals. Yap it's was a passenger car to start. Dave is this a local find?
  15. The trans is from my 29 DE. I am not to sure the side plate is for. Is it for a PTO power take off. Both disc plates shown before are 10".
  16. Hard to say which is correct. I wonder if either will work since they are both 10 spline. I would believe that a truck would have a stiffer spring system. Thence the 561 for car and 562 for trucks. I do not for sure my DE truck clutch model but I would assume it is the 10RD 562 model. My parts truck is identical to the DE but it is actually shown as a DA 120 on the build card and it had the 10RD 562 model. To bad you do not have any trucks like yours near you to compare notes with.
  17. It appears your truck is in the listing as 3/4 group if you know for sure you have 10Q clutch in your truck. The 10RD lists as the DE, DEW, DEF, etc. group. These trucks were the GB carry overs and the DEW, DEF were the DE model with optional tires and heavier rear springs. My parts truck build card shows 4/11/30. This may not be the actual build date. I would believe there plenty of parts around to build trucks and they used them till they were used up. The transition years to the new model trucks is confusing. Your truck is a DA 124 and has a different frame design and body panels.
  18. Do not want a jury rig for sure. I have see the solenoid used on an engine like mine. My plunger is nothing more than an on or off switch. Pushing down only provides continuity from battery to starter. Very simple method but it requires a lot of pressure. A solenoid uses an electric current to force internal plunger to provide continuity.
  19. I have a 29 DB truck with the 6 volt system. I am considering placing a solenoid in the started system. It came with the floor plunger type button and the solenoid would assist in better starter performance. The old plunger could be use as a switch. 1) will a ford solenoid work? 2) do I need a relay in the circuit? If any one has a wire diagram it would be helpful.
  20. I recently acquired a 29 Dodge DA 6. The engine was drained of oil and water many years ago when it was stored. The engine was completely sealed. I have done a compression check on the engine at room temperature and oiled cylinders. All compression read at 60 psi + or - 2 psi. I have no way to test the engine after it is at operation temperature since it is non operational. Is the cold test a fairly accurate test? I believe the compression ratio is 5.0 To 1. Is that correct.
  21. Here is a listing for Dodge Bros trucks I had in my reference collection. Your frame number should be listed in these groups. Sad to say but the frame numbers can be wiped clear by rust. It should be listed on the title although. the frame # of the red GB posted earlier is E 140xxx and my DB is S 114xxx. E means Evansville Id built, and S mean Stockton Ca built. There is a transition from GB trucks to DB trucks during late 1920's.
  22. Great project. The ID plates are very interesting. These plates lead a hard life. I found my badly rusted ID plate for my 29 DB "E" series truck and could read the frame # S114xxx, model DE, and wheelbase 120. the following was found on E bay and the other is mine.
  23. Thanks for sharing folks. Great to meet up with other collectors. Hope to get to one of these meets.
  24. The picture posted belongs to a friend of mine truck. It is a 29 GB 1 1/4 ton. Note the iron spokes.
